it was a pretty average gaming pc. middling cpu, little ram (which was fine since it's a console), but a decent gpu.as for the rest, it has four controller ports, always nice.the controller was a legally-distinct playstation controller and not really any worse, which was good.built in hdd was pretty sick, had 3 cache partitions games could use to improve load times, even some limited online content downloads.built in ethernet, probably the first properly successful online service.as for unofficial stuff, it was an excellent homebrew system. run games from hdd (practically need to upgrade the hdd for that, the stock one is 8/10GB with about 4GB available), xbmc, emulators for everything up to n64, etc.i say this as someone who first got and preferred my ps2, i got an xbox second hand later on and mostly used it for homebrew/xbmc, but i wouldn't have been disappointed if i only had an xbox, either

used my xbmc xbox as a streaming machine up until 2020handled everything except 720p+ videowhen i upgraded my pc i finally replaced it with my old pcnot nearly as comfy controlling the tiny ui with a mouse vs a controller thoughtried using kodi, but it's jeeted out the ass and runs slower on an i7 3770 than xbmc on a piii celeron
