Hey /g/! It's been a while since I posted here, but recently a thought has came to mind.

So I've been looking for a job for a while now, and I've been thinking about what I would spend my first paycheck @ my new job on and shit, and recently, I've heard about this cool little thing called a CyberDeck, which is basically a small little laptop thingy that you can build by hand and customize all by yourself and shit.

It's been trending a lot on TikTok lately, mainly being popular around the kids and stuff, but on one hand, I don't want to spend possibly hundreds of dollars on something I'm gonna end up barely using (I fell for the flip phone propaganda and it was inconvenient as shit, you can't do shit on KaiOS), but on the other, I think it would be nice to make one specifically for playing video games on the bus with and shit (plus gaming laptops are too expensive), so I just got to know:

Is it worth all that money and time, and is there any advice for someone considering purchasing one?
>>
No. They're just toys women on TikTok like.

>make one specifically for playing video games on the bus
buy a ds lite and an r4 card, enjoy a 100x better experience

raspberry pi is a laptop with the power of android cpu (literally worthless)
with the same money you can get a more powerful laptop
>>

Does it support PC-only games? Like the shit you can get off steam or whatever?

comfy

>CyberDeck
An alt-tech /g/ meme commodified into overpriced tat for gullible normies.
>flip phone propaganda
Figures. Do not listen to /g/, TikTok, Instagram Reels about this shit.

What does it do that can't be done by termux or android? Feels extremely larpy to me. They keyboard isn't even good to type on.
>>
>>109609854
no and neither will a cyberdick with less power than your phone
>>

So then what computers would you suggest as an alternative? Ideally something I can carry around in a bag and whip out on the bus without it being a total pain in the ass and something I can run a game like Minecraft on, for example.

are you some sort of fllthy normie? or are you larping as one? in either case gtfo
>>
>>109610074
buy a macbook neo or learn how to not spend every waking moment playing video games
>>
>>109610074
Steam Deck or it's various clones? Or just get a portable controller for your phone.
>>
>>109610074
Minecraft is on phones

are there any prebuild cyberdecks for EU that can be used as daily driver for people who want open software and open hardware for people who don't use smartphones but are techies?
>>

Now that you mention it, I did hear that the steam deck works kinda the same way as a regular ol PC does, all you'd really need to do is install windows on it and shit (might have to look it up though)

Thank you, and sorry for being such a retard about it lol

>>109610136

Yeah, but it sucks ass compared to the PC version from what I've heard, and that's coming from someone who used to play both the ps3-4 (favorite ones btw) and Nintendo switch versions. At least with PC, you can add your own mods to it and shit without having to spend hard earned money on minecoins.

Installing Windows on a Steam Deck is like watching straight porn to stare at the man's arsehole. Just run Minecraft on Linux.

not really.
its really just a personality signifier.
"I like tech, I like to craft, and I like being different"
I want a cyberdeck, but only for a dedicated shitposting/meme posting device.
I am fully embracing that its just for people who enjoy the hobby or want to be trendy.
literally anything else would make a better computer.
>>
Literally just buy a 2:1 thinkpad

Its a fun /cyber/punk LARP, but that's it. Do it for the love of the game, but dont expect to do anything useful with it, other than posing it for photos.
>it fits in my pocket!
so does a phone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>I can work/game on it
A small laptop does the same thing, but better, and cheaper.
They're cool, but cool as in "performance art", not in any useful way.
