should i consoom it despite the price? the eye tracking is cool and i think devs can do interesting things with it
>>
>>109610548
if its costing close to $1000 then no. there are better ones like the MeganeX superlight or a Pixmax
>>
>>109610548
be your own dev. People are porting all sorts of shit to it with ai.
Price is irrelevant anyway, what matters is how much you can resell it for once you're bored with it & if anyone actually wants it.
>>
>>109610579
can pimax do wireless? i had a reverb g2 and the cable was the worst part
>>
>>109610604
they've had plans for a wireless adapter for the past few years but who knows if it ever comes out
>>
>>109610627
if it comes out before the frame i'll look at it but i won't do wired again. my g2 is bricked because the cable broke and then removing the cable too many times broke the socket. twisting it up while playing also super annoying
>>
>>109610654
frame starts shipping to consumers on sept 14th so that's highly unlikely
and pimax is jank central, they can't even run their new headsets at native res without crashing
>>
>>109610691
>starts shipping to consumers on sept 14th
only if you win the lottery
>and pimax is jank central, they can't even run their new headsets at native res without crashing
so is there a wireless alternative with eye tracking? people keep saying it's overpriced but everything else needs me to compromise in some way
>>
>>109610719
>only if you win the lottery
It'll be much better than the machine, they have more than twice the starting stock and the interest is much lower.
>so is there a wireless alternative with eye tracking?
Meta quest pro, and that's basically it. Incredible headset in terms of tech, but horrible EOL software and horrendous comfort.
Frame isn't going to push boundaries in single paper specs (which makes some people really mad) but it'll be a great all-rounder.
>>
>>109610738
yeah that's why i want it. it looks like an upgrade over the quest 3 that just werks and everything else is very specialized. but you don't get zuckbucks to subsidize it.
>>
>>109610579
It'll cost close to $1000 alright, but not on the 900 dollar side
>>
>>109610719
>She thinks the foveated rendering will work in stand alone mode.
Am laffin
>>
>>109611064
it will, valve is using the dxvk conversion to force it
https://youtu.be/gt78UDtOjPY
not going to be the greatest form of dfr but still
>>
>>109611064
i don't care about that because i mostly want pcvr, i mean using eye tracking for game features or ui
>>
>>109610579
It will be more than $1k

>>109610548
VR has no games
>>
>>109611243
>more than $1k
If it is, not by much.
Near announcement, they said they targeted less than the index. They did say again in March that it would be less than the index "but not by much", and at that point most of the increase already happened.

How are these things VR again?
>>
If Valve made the Quest 3 it would cost $900. Add in eye tracking, better chips, more RAM, included wireless dongle. I don't see how it could cost less than $1400.
>>
>>109611672
The Quest 3 is sold at a loss, but only when matched up with how much money Meta burns on incompetence and tardwranglers.
Prior to price hikes Valve could have sold the headset cheaper than the Quest 3 while still making a profit.

>Prior to price hikes Valve could have sold the headset cheaper than the Quest 3 while still making a profit.

I don't see how. I think it was going to cost under $1000 as they said and now they will have to get close to $1500 with RAM and storage costs increasing. Plus the Qualcomm price increase.
>>
>>109611743
it was still less than 1000 bucks in march at gdq, so well into this mess
the qualcomm prince increase is like 20 bucks
>>
>>109611553
You can't really play video games with a retarded glove.
>>
>>109611856
gdc* not gdq
>>
>>109610579
how is megaoneX better? It's not even standalone headset.
frame is a standardole headset running loonix. Not android trash. You can do x86 emulation on it, take if with you, use it with drones, write your own stuff, run scripts, integrate with other systems and so on. Unlike jewish quest 3 running spyware OS.

Meganex will continue to be a meme until they have support for more than SteamVR lighthouses for 6DoF, Windows for Operating systems and Nvidia for GPUs. It's basically the "dedicated enthusiast early adopter" option. Meganex will continue to have a bottlenecked 800$ albatross around its neck discouraging newbies for as long as it is stuck with SteamVR.

Pimax at least has SLAM tracking options and is working on Linux support even if its build quality and software probably isn't quite there yet.
>>
>>109612265
>how is megaoneX better?
its almost twice the resolution of a frame, has OLED screens and the lenses blow it away. the superlight 8k is the king of clarity at the moment, it puts the apple vision pro to shame.
and for a pricetag of $1800 is better damn well should
>>
>>109612541
>SteamVR lighthouses for 6DoF, Windows for Operating systems and Nvidia for GPUs.
theres are the three best options in their relative fields. who the fuck uses AMD and linux for VR
>>
I'm interested in it because it's an ARM Linux headset.
>>
VR headsets have no use cases outside of masturbating to JAV.

>VR headsets have no use cases outside of masturbating to JAV.
What model do you have?
Would you recommend it?
>>
>>109613335
Even if there weren't a problem with putting all of their eggs into one basket, Microsoft and Nvidia definitely aren't the best options anymore unless that's already what you are using.
The Meganex is firmly targeted at people who bought an Index and wanted an upgrade path, it's not a good headset otherwise, given that the pricetag is otherwise raised by 500$-800$ and you have no freedom to choose your OS or GPU.
>>
>>109613329
you still need something like rtx 5090 to utilize these resolutions. Frame is fine for almost everyone AND it has loonix.
My point is that these are different classes of devices.

It's a self contained pc on your head tho.. private float screen full fat pc gaming + vr if you want it... Worth it. https://files.catbox.moe/slaslm.mp4

I can interact with the virtual world with it and use the weapons and other things as in Virtual Reality ?

Anon you have hands in real world, right ?

>shiling shitfall headsets

>should i consoom it despite the price?
YES, please! I also want them. Would be cool if there was a multiplayer room with our fleshlights connected and we could have a HJ session
>>
>>109614335
bet
>>
why not just wait for the devs to actually do something with it then? never buy tech on the promise that itll eventually be worth it
>>
>>109610548
no, they need to redesign it, take out the RAM and chip and just make it a cheap wired headset.
>>
>>109614530
fuck off simtard

Only once did they mention price where they said it will be less than the Index. They didn't give an amount, they didn't say anything about adjustments for inflation. People just assumed it would be under $1000.
>>
>>109616814
>only once
WRONG,
They did a first time in November along with the launch, which is what you're referring to.
They did a second time at the GDC on March 11th, one dev from the steamdb d*scord went there and chatted with them since they had a presentation and booth (with machine, frame and controller)
Here's what he wrote verbatim on the subject
>Frame is still planned to cost less than Index
>Just not a lot less than Index
someone asks in the discord what that mean, which kit and what localized price, so he goes back
>full kit
>less than 1000$
>They also said "yes*" to Frame prices lowering if the RAM prices lower (and stay low long term/not volatile)
>add 10 asterisks to that
>but not against that idea
>>

Do you have a link or something for the GDC March 11th interview since that's something Imissed

If you want to go straight to the source, here. I'd spoiler these if I could but alas.
