>Mark Zuckerberg says Apple's lack of innovation since the iPhone will lead to its decline:
>They haven't really invented anything great in a while. Steve Jobs invented the iPhone, and now they're kind of sitting on it 20 years later
>Year over year, I'm not even sure they're selling more iPhones at this point. Part of it is that each generation doesn't actually get that much better, so people are taking longer to upgrade
>They built stuff like AirPods, which are cool, but they've thoroughly hamstrung the ability for anyone else to build something that can connect to the iPhone
>I'm pretty optimistic that because they've been so off their game in terms of not really releasing many innovative things... eventually they'll get beat by someone
Do you agree with acclaimed businessman Mark Zuckerberg?

He's half right. Apple hasnt innovated much but their users are deeply entrenched and rarely if ever leave the Apple product ecosystem. I do think he's also right that their generational jumps in tech are too small and way too rapid for the majority of their user base to upgrade that often.

Apple didn't burn 50 billion dollars killing VR so they have the money argument in hand

says the dude who is CEO of a tech company best known for being the internet's retirement home
where will Facebook be in 20 years? meanwhile Apple isn't going anywhere unless california gets nuked

It will take a "next thing" to kill Apple. Whatever replaces phones. The users are way too sticky and the products are eternally "good enough" to be seen as a baseline for other manufacturers. Personally I can't stand apple devices or services.

The only thing that could feasibly replace phones is smart glasses
Smart glasses might be challenging for apple since the premise of the product is that as much processing as possible is done off-device to keep a small footprint. Hence why OAI is really into the idea right now, with Jony Ive's collaboration ironically enough
I'm sure they have had this in mind through the development of the Vision Pro though

obviously I disagree, the M1 lit a fire under the ass of the laptop market, and the Macbook Neo, which I am typing this on now, shook up the sub $1000 market. I used to be an apple hater and even I can see that apple stock has been going crazy since beyond the iPhone's release in 2007

Facebook, Google Search, and Amazon's bookstore aren't exactly new inventions either, being first to market isn't guarantee'd success

M1 was groundbreaking
also glass houses
