Intel spent a decade paying laptop manufacturers to exclusively use intel cpus. When AMD made the zen lineup the manufacturers found out they're losing more money with the exclusivity deal than they would making AMD laptops so they stopped agreeing. But AMD couldn't ramp up cpu production fast enough to cover the spike in sales so AMD laptops developed a reputation for being out of stock all the time.
There's also other stupid marketing gimmicks like thunderbolt 4 vs usb 4, the fucking idiotic mediatek wifi chip deals that killed a lot of amd laptop usability, the ass backwards naming scheme of their cpus to mislead you into buying old SKUs, and mobile gpus being pretty ass compared to nvidia mobile gpus.
