after severely underclocking my phone's cpu (1.2GHz for two A76s, 1.0GHz for the six A55s), gpu (390MHz lol), and RAM (1200MHz), i have not noticed many issues. chromium works fine, emails are good, local media playback is perfect. i am starting to think a lot of the "breathing room" in modern devices is dedicated to OEM malware services.
>>109614736People tend to go outside their basement now and then, and cpu taking forever to do tasks isn’t great for battery life
>>109614750i've gutted non-essential services, even microG got wiped since i didn't need it (can simply open an app to check notifs).all of the heavy-duty stuff has been moved to my PC. besides, i'm not an indian. a phone is a phone!

>>109614736But does it still work as a phone?Does safetynet still work?A phone's not very useful if you stripped out the baseband and all the OS stuff

>>109614736>i have not noticed many issueswell of course not; modern phones run underclocked most of the time anyway (to preserve battery life)mostly what you'll notice when forcing things to be slower is some things taking longer than you expect usually, with occasional things failing (probably in stuff like video calls)>i am starting to think a lot of the "breathing room" in modern devices is dedicated to OEM malware servicesthose work just as well when underclocked, anonreally, all you're doing is preventing the cpu from going back to sleep sooner (phone cpus are really good at taking small sleeps)
