Anyone remember these? I used to have this for my paypal account back in the day for 2fa.I think it generated enough power to show the 2fa code when you pressed on the "button" but I don't know. Maybe it had a battery? If it did, that's a really slim battery.Post more obsolete security tech if you want.
Those still exist anon, they just no longer show a code, they transmit it directly to your device.
>>109617063not the same device
>>109617040It's just a smartcard. Your credit card has one inside of it.
>>109617040I had one of those but it was an authenticator for Blizzard games back in like 2012.
>>109617040Not sure about this one but a lot of OTP generators back then had a nonremovable battery.Actually since these codes are time based that card must have some kind of power source to keep the clock running.
>>109617063>use most secure passcode for paypal>want to do an transaction>please use an otp generator or get a text on your phone numberwhat's even the point?
>>109617040>>109617063still exist, still purchasableit's just TOTP 2FAhttps://www.token2.com/products/token2-otpc-n1-otp-display-card-nonprogrammable-
>>109619306don't mind the out of stock i pasted a link to an older version
>>109617040I have pic related, I use it everytime to log into my bank account and authorise transfers.

How accurate are the clocks on those things?Because basic Casio wristwatches only have an accuracy of ±15 seconds/month.After a few years, I'd imagine the discrepancy a problem.

hardware TOTP devices still exist in japlandliving in 1990 since 1980 o nanka
>>109619918>accept if in some window>after auth, note time drift of tokenty
>>109619961why is the keypad necessary
>>109620174not him but maybe to program a secret if they're generic?i mean in general for TOTP to work the device and service you're using it with need to know each others' secret for the process to work
>>109620174Nta, before doing anything with the device you first have to enter the pin code, then when making a transfer, the bank will display a numerical code, enter that code into the authenticator thingy and it will give you another code that you then give it to the bank to authenticate the transfer.
>>109620187serial on the back should be enough for any application managing tokens, also bank logo on the case means a special order where the secret can be programmed during production>>109620223PIN is a nice feature superior to the secureid hardware fob i used to use anyway
>>109617040Unfortunately, some companies still pay for these.Cisco makes one called a DUO that uses a HOTP it is not time-based, which means if you click the button too many times it goes out of sync with the login server and you just can't sign in at all without contacting your IT support.
