A few weeks later I got hit with a bug in systemd that messed up with encrypted volumes and the entire thing was unusable forever. Thankfully I had my intact backup. I said "fuck this shit" and moved to OpenBSD. Then not too long after, Spectre hit and OpenBSD was mostly immune. LOL

BSD, Haiku (which just got modern 3D with broad support through Vulkan), Plan9, ReactOS as well. Which now boots, runs, installs your OEM drivers, and runs Half Life 2 perfectly along with most other classic Win32 software. FreeDOS is popular with gamers now. I manage to get by. If I have to do all kinds of fancy shit, I have a brand new Mac Mini with 64GB RAM unified memory here, my wife's employer bought it for her, no enrollment in anything, just said "hey buy a computer and bill it to us" and she never uses it anyway.
