>Not sure what private trackers are all about?
A private tracker is an invite-only torrent website. Each member shares common goals: collecting, preserving and discussing media.

>READ THE OP BEFORE MAKING A FUCKING QUESTION YOU RETARDED FAGGOT
>It doesn't matter if you use the same username in different trackers, the staff still share your IP with each other.
>Staff is not reading, being /marked/ is a meme, and even if it isn't, it is.
>Don't ask for invites, it's private for a reason.
>If starting out you should interview for RED, rank to Torrent Master, wait on account age, and get invites from there. THAT'S IT THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO.

They explicitly state “no copyrighted materials” plus a vps usually doesn’t like torrent traffic. I need a seedbox with a vpn. Not a vps that allows configuration of anything but the usage of nothing
>>
>>109622977
You're never going to find a place that says "yes copyrighted materials" and this isn't a VPS, it's a dedicated server. They aren't going to go through your files. I got an abuse complaint using it to seed Rocko's Modern Life to public trackers once and they sent me a scary email about needing to respond to a ticket or lose my services. But it turns out they just insta-closed and deleted the ticket themselves because they don't care. I know because I opened a new one to inform them I deleted it and they just shrugged it off.

They're a reseller of online.net. It's in the same tier as OVH and Leaseweb when it comes to euro seedbox hosting. Providers don't use it as much as they set up in those other 2 but it's just as obvious of a place to set up your own because of the ultra cheap pricing and not giving a shit attitude.

>No. 10gbit FTTH is all over Europe now. Running a topsite in your house is now as easy as it was to run a bbb site in Sweden in 2002. These guys are basically obsolete.
No home connection will get you the kind of speeds/peering required for racing. I used to be on a 1Gbit plan of a provider who offered 10Gbit and guess what, most of the time I was limited to something around 700Mbit. Not to mention the fucking CGNAT. Home connections are second class citizens, you need to be your own ISP.
>>
>>109623534
Even CGNAT doesn't matter for the scene's purposes because of bouncers. You don't connect directly to the site's real IP, ever. Topsites have been run off of home connections for as long as I have known the scene existed. It was just mostly concentrated in Sweden and Korea because those were the only countries that had good internet. Japan did too but there weren't so many sites there. You know how it is.
>>
But I should also say, as a qualifier, I'm talking about the scene. Not rented payleech shitsites with no affils. But don't you think it's getting to the point where even those people should be looking to migrate out of the gutter not just because of economics but also because they don't want to associate with people neck deep in shit hosting CP and getting mentioned on CNN attracting glowie attention with incidents like the recent m****rless one? If you run a general tracker and are reading this start thinking about your future.

you probably shouldn't be bumping the message after you receive the invite, but you could type "thanks" at the bottom of your application i guess. i never did.
>>
>>109623647
It depends on what the instructions say to do. Sometimes it's like put your email and nothing else. Other times it asks you to write specific things and thanking the recruiter can go along with it.
>>
>>109623619
No, I thank him in advance.

are we still pretending like it makes any difference whether a piece of software is open source or not? like your dumbass is gonna audit the code or submit a merge request.
>>
>>109623902
Bulletproof hosting is a bit of a different category and this isn't exactly the place I'd be looking for it:
>b) The only thing not offered as a dedicated resource is internet bandwidth. We offer a 1 Gbps shared bandwidth to all clients on that respective node. If bandwidth abuse occurs, the bandwidth will be limited to 69 Mbit dedicated.
>>
>>109623933
I have no reason to use slopware banned by trackers when the open source clients are perfectly good. It's not like this piece of fucking shit you have developed an irrational attachment to because you have 4chan contrarian brain is going to outperform a well tuned Deluge while seeding thousands of torrents without shitting itself. You just want to be different because that's what losers like you do.
>>
>>109623951
you are obviously a neon because tixati is known to be pretty much the most performant client around and that's not my contrarianism, that's the consensus and the logical result of having everything, from the gui to the actual engine, written in native c++ whereas for deluge the libtorrent daemon has to communicate with the other components via rpc, which becomes a huge bottleneck with large file lists..
>banned by trackers
appeal to authority. maybe if you don't like 4chan contrarians you should go and fuck off to reddit.
>>
>>109623993
It's shit. WinMX is over. You're using a public shitter client that spoofs itself rather than cleaning up. Next you're going to start shilling BitComet or Azeurus. Why don't I install Hola in my browser and voluntarily join a botnet while I'm at it?

>>

tixati is still actively developed so your dumb probocations don't apply.
I am on fucking headless so ofc i'm not using it. i am saying it is the best plug-and-play desktop client. of course it will be outperformed by rtorrent past 10k torrents or larger. honestly it might still mog libtorrent (-rasterbar) though with any library size, not to speak of deluge which is actually the slowest client you could have cited retard
>>
>>109624029
There's no compelling reason to use it. You can try to point out logical fallacies in arguments I'm making all you want as if that matters on four chan dot org. But until you measure it's performance in swarms meaningfully in the way people do with actual serious non shitware clients it doesn't matter. All you brought to this argument is shilling for Kevin Hearn's pet project. Stop running your dick suckers and start proving your claims. Until then it's public shitter slop and you're the kind of guy who bought a Windows phone in 2015.

Some real torrent client talk after this dumbass skirmish:

In order for an alternative torrent client to gain traction it would need to not just be lighter on resource usage. How many people are crying that qbittorrent is too heavy? Even people who still use uTorrent 2.2.1 in 2026 don't usually cite that as the reason for sticking with the closed source boomer client. It always comes down to it's handling of absolutely massive numbers of torrents without buckling under that pressure.

So what do users actually want from an alternative client? Better network performance combined with the ability to handle more overall torrents. A major hurdle that needs to be cleared is the failure of current clients to reuse https connections when doing announces. This would help with tracker load and client performance at once.
>>
>>109624122
>How many people are crying that qbittorrent is too heavy?
it has to be because it is multiplatform
>>
>>109624122
>So what do users actually want from an alternative client?
rust-based utorrent clone made from scratch that works on windows, mac and linux
>>
>>109624142
On my seedbox with an Intel Xeon E31230 and only 32GB of RAM it's holding up just fine seeding thousands of torrents. Maybe some guy trying to do the same thing on a Raspberry Pi would complain.
>>
do people actually limit their upload speed on OPS or is that just a joke
>>
>>109624186
I think one or two of those guys who are seeding basically every torrent on the tracker do. Other than that the tracker just has a lot of swarms that are inferior to RED's. Less seedbox users in swarms with under 10 seeders. That's usually fine. Downloading a FLAC album at 10mbit isn't going to make me cry. But downloading at a painful 70k/s from that one guy and he's the only seeder is a common enough occurrence.
>>
It's real obvious he capped it to that too because he changed ISPs recently but the speed is exactly the same.

Seems like you have a fetish for clients with ugly ass interfaces. Save for uTorrent. Azeurus being Java cancer bloat meant I was never gonna touch that thing. I thought torrents were completely lame until I discovered uTorrent and private trackers. Before that I was in scene groups with topsite access, using FlashFXP, and never upgraded my inherited family PC from 2001 beyond the 128MB of RAM it came with.

Arre bhaiya admin sahab, sun lo yaar! Your encodes are just too big only! I don't know what kind of internet they have over there in Bangladesh, but 20GB for a 1080p movie is OUTRAGEOUS, bhai! How am I supposed to watch the whole DC and Marvel cinematic universes with aunty when I invite her over for VLC and chill? I demand you stop the bloats, yaar! Jio has only started to offer a 300GB cap per month for their 5G service. How am I supposed to both download and seed all these monster sized movies when you bloat them like this? Times are tough, bhai. There is no more hard drive in the market. You can only buy 500GB harvested from e-waste Acer and Toshiba laptops from 15 years ago. Please have mercy on us sir! The subcontinent is in your gratitude! The size of WEB-DL 1080 and encode 720 is perfect for 1080. NO MORE BLOAT, bas!

Don’t assume “better” trackers are uniformly better for your needs, and don’t forget the general trackers you started out in and came from.

General trackers are genuinely underrated. For example, I was asked to grab some niche foreign show. None of the mid tier trackers I’m on had it. TL had it. Of course I could make a request on any of these trackers and they’d probably fill it. And I’d assume that any of the top tier TV trackers would have this show. But, getting into the top trackers is just such an order of magnitude harder than staying in these general trackers. And these mid tier trackers are still highly regarded and not trivial to get into. Now, the mid tier trackers obviously excel in retention, and curation. You can grab releases and have confidence they’re good. But even then, curation means they can lack enough variety. Many such cases, where for example there is a x264 version of a show, but not an x265. I think that no matter how high on the tracker ladder I climb, I’ll find myself coming back to general trackers.
