>better gaming performance than CachyOS
>more stable than Arch
>more user friendly than Ubuntu
>cooler name than distros like Fedora

Why is it more niche than dedicated Gaymerslop?
>>
Normalfags are conditioned to believe a product dedicated to 1 specific thing is inherently better than something generalized
So if a normalgroid is going to go through all the trouble of installing Linux (something they already see as a gargantuan task like climbing mount everest) of course they are going to pick Gaymer OS 0.69 which promises to make their game run fast, rather than a generic stable desktop system that can do everything including games.
>But it's even /g/ users
/g/ is full of normalfags

garbage like Arch and Arch based distros do more damage to the overall image of linux than any shill could ever do, most of the complaints about linux i read here or outside in the internet is 90% of the time because arch or some garbage distro based on it, this place forgot the shitshow that it was when manjaro was popular

oh cool, well being /g/ i cant wait to see the performance graphs that anon has with real-world reproducible results.

oh well, im sure you will post them op.

I use mint. It's great
The only problem is it is Ubuntu based. But they have the foresight and made LMDE for when the time comes. They have sound judgement. Until then, I think it is a solid distro

The only distro anybody should be paying attention to is Fedora.
Mint is too old just like Ubuntu LTS and Debian most of the time and Clem is a slow faggot. Canonical doesn't even know what it wants Ubuntu itself to become either.
Arch breaks all the time, and no, just because it works on your machine doesn't magically make it better.
The only reason why gaymer distros are even relevant is because of SteamOS, and as soon as Gabe realizes how much of a waste of money and time that is and abandons it, everyone will stop working on them just like all other FOTM distros before them.
Yes, this is a Fedora shill post. Go ahead and cry about it, you know I'm right no matter how hard you cope. Red Hat has made Linux functional for once, there's a reason why Linus uses it himself.

Linux Mint would be more popular if it wasn't known as a "beginner friendly" distro. Modern tech retards refuse to use anything that isn't at least "moderately advanced" because they don't want to "lose aura" by using "easy" Linux. It's all tryhard bullshit

Ok. So i tried cachy, specifically for the VRAM function they provided - it made no real difference to my perceived experience in a game. So i went back to win10 IoT.
But seriously, the choice will always be base arch or base debian. You only use spins if you want some functionality or feature that those spin devs are working on (the cachy example is perfect).
It's been this way forever guys, stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

I still think LMDE is better, it really just needs the Mint version of their kernel manager to be perfect. LMDE also has more up to date packages. It's really just debian but without the retarded delay the mint ubuntu version has with updates. They waste so much time removing all the ubuntu crap, why not just use LMDE instead?

Because it uses Cinnamon and most people want their distro to use their preferred DE ootb rather than swap over post-install. If Mint had a KDE option it would rapidly overtake downloads of their Cinnamon and XFCE (lmao) isos

>Normalfags are conditioned to believe a product dedicated to 1 specific thing is inherently better
If this were true, everyone would be using Unix-based operating systems that adhere to the original concept where there were 50 million small tools that each did 1 thing and you piped them together. But normalfags hate this. They want one tool that does everything, that's why all software is bloated monolithshit.

There's nothing wrong with Arch itself. It explicitly markets itself as something for power users. It's the fault of everyone trying to use Arch as a base for a desktop that leads to this shit. Arch even has a FAQ page right on the front page of the wiki comparing it to other distros and give new Linux users advice on what they should use (not Arch). Arch can't do anything about the natural human hubris to want to be cool and use something tryhard when they should be using boring and more complete out of the box. It even recommends Mint.
Arch also can't do anything about the fact that using something you build from the ground up requires you to read and most people skip the reading.

I highly recommend to use debian KDE or gnome yes you have to like write a code on su - and make you super user usermod -aG sudo <USERNAME> but its stabilized so well its optimized and its easier compared to arch cachy is or any other distro not talking about mint or zorin BTW anyways just try Debian 13 you gonna love it but if you are an advanced user just use arch Debian and arch is supreme

>dizzing xfce
elaborate.
>KDE option would win
If i remember correctly, it used to have a KDE edition, but after starting the cinammon project fork of Gnome, they threw a pool for which DE's where the most used by their user's base and it the results were "xfce and mate" and so they stayed. I don't know, i also believe that in today's age, with KDE finally getting matured, by technical merits it would be probably the main desktop they would use for popularity standars, but they might be too commited to Cinnamon by this point and too far left behind by some other distros that do design their own version of KDE, like kubuntu and the other niche ones i can't remember, and that would take resources that may not come back from such work. It's already a pain with the wayland transition and stuff.

>>
>>109633448
That is so fucking confusing. Why are random libs installed manually? If it's just deps, that's not worth mentioning. Package manager handles that.
>>
>>109624642
I'm genually curious know, who uses Mate with Mint? outside of Cinnamon as mint's go to, xfce appreciation and practical use, i haven't seen that many people talking about Mate except when Ubuntu killed ubuntu-mate this year, so it startles me that Mint still offers it and maintains a custom edition with it, even though XFCE already covers the light-weight DE they offer.
>>
>better gaming performance than cachyos
Highly doubt it, maybe if you take into account less input lag from the compositor, but that's about it, cachyos with cinnamon and xorg is surely faster than mint.
>>
Mint ships with retarded defaults that are garbage for gaming, and because mint is shilled as 'the beginner friendly distro' the first experience of Linux for tech illiterate retards is objectively a shit one.
>no HDR
>stuttering with mixed refresh
>no multi display VRR
>no fractional scaling
Mint isn't a beginner friendly distro, it's meant for destitute 1366x768 laptop ziggers. If you're new, just use any distro that ships with Wayland GNOME or Plasma and you're automatically better off. ESPECIALLY if you are tech illiterate.
