This is literally my job now
I should have kept programming as a hobby

Looking back, it's weird to think that people thought that game was so profound in like 2014 or whenever. I think it's something about contempt for games. So when one game comes along and is in any way self aware or satirical, people who dislike games thought that was a brilliant thing to do.

Sounds like a great job to me.

Time to return to monkey. It's up to you if that means launching the nukes, flinging your shit around or no more showers.

It's worse than this for me now. I don't even type anymore Claude code does everything and I don't even bother with checking the commits anymore. But I'm constantly trying to look busy and the boss is pressuring everyone to work harder as they know "AI boosts productivity". It's a living hell especially as all colleagues realize their jobs are now merely ceremonial or decorative at best so it has become very cutthroat with a bad vibe and ass-kissing like how bullshit jobs usually work.

I should have gone to medical school when I had the chance as a young adult rather than thinking I could have a nice remote consulting job on some tropical beach making similar amount as money as a doctor.

nobody thought the game was profound
it was just novel

The entire metanarrative storytelling device was peaking around that time and people loved it because it felt profound but now it is literally a tired trope people are sick of.

Zero escape, undertale, Stanley parable all released around the same time with the same metanarrative shit. Doki doki literature club is i think the last one Doing this trope before people got sick of it. Sadly now all of those works will retroactively be hated even though it was very innovative at the time. Kind of like how "chest high wall cover shooters" being a overdone trope has retroactively ruined the reputation of the original gears of War, which was brilliant and unique when it came out.
