Cardputers worth it?Thinking about using it to talk to you guys over meshtastic.
>>109635031Totally worth it, everyone is using this.
>>109635031>meshtasticCan't you just install an SBC somewhere and connect to it?
>>109635031Cardputer is the best investment currently. Their value is skyrocketing exponentially day by day. Don't hesitate and pull the trigger right fucking now. Cardputer. Let me guess, you need more.
Only cool kids are using Cardputers.
>>109635031haha what the hell? imagine trying to code (or honestly do anything) while squinting at that itty bitty fucking screen and punching those little tiny buttons. this is for suckers.
>>109635031I was basically a street person, you know, I was a bad guy, I lived basically sleeping on street crates, this was the middle of the summer, on 47th street, outside this electronics store, I looked up and I saw the Cardputer, I went inside to look and before they threw me out I had a little bit of a chance to grab one and I used it to talk to an agent and it told me what to do. Well, I got myself up off the canvas, I stopped just being a loser, and I decided I would go to college and reform my life, I ended up getting an MEng over at the MIT and I became a Claude Code Prompt Engineer over at a FAANG making well over 200k as a junior and I still do most of my work on the Cardputer while sipping daiquiris by the pool.
>>109635031this is memeshit you'll put in your drawer in a week tops
>>109635322guaranteed. i still don't understand its usecase. the marketing for it is even more of a gimmick
>>109635031extremely niche use case, if you're not sure if you need a cardputer, you don't need one
>>109635031Why not get a LillyGo pager?
cardputer? that's a new one.do they have cardboard instead of motherboard inside?
>>109635031>for Hackersin the late '90s this would've been under every christmas treejust needs some 15yo in sunglasses hacking the mainframe on it in the commercial
use case for carputers?I have an android phone that's as thin, as small but it has a snapdragon 8 SoC, best in market modem, 12gb of ram, 512gb of storage. Can literally run MGS V and PS3 games. Why the fuck would I buy a cardputer? GPIO? Who gives a fuck, a phone nowadays has bluetooth, gsm, 4g, accelerometer, compass, wifi etc...also this thread looks extremely unorganic and ad-like
>>109635031i like the concept, but i'm too poor to purchase one (or 10)
>>109635031
>>109636082no, they still haven't decided to go full chinese.
>>109638179you make it seem as if its a bad idea? that model is lacking in a lot of different ports, including a modular design to allow for newer devices (for upgrades and the like)
>>109635031This is possibly one of the most retarded products I have ever seen. You have a cell phone that is many times more powerful than this in your pocket already. If you need more use a fucking laptop.
god damn /g/entoomen - can computers not be fun for you anymore?>muh fone is faster>get a laptop noobJesus fucking christ boys, computing can be fun and not just god damn snapdragons and gigabytes
>>109638462It's just a pi man, they are great for nifty embedded projects, giving it a terrible screen and keyboard doesn't make you a leet haxor and it's a pretty uninspired use of a pi. Particularly considering you're definitely never going to actually use this.
>>109635031what's a cardputer?
>>109635519This. I had no idea how useless they were until I got one home. Nearly any raw sbc or esp32 is more useful.
>>109635031noand lemme guess, it's $350 base model?
>>109635031>Cardputerscardputers are amazing. if you aren't tinkering to became a fucking campo kill, why even live. Like if you aren't automating beehives and citrus trees, what are you even doing?
>>109637196Raspbian won't garbage collect sshd because you haven't opened termux in the last hour and comes with a self hosting compiler.Or to put it simply: It does what you tell it to, some people don't like sucking corporate dick to do basic things like edit text files.
>>109640437sshdtermux-wake-lock
>>109635031>meshtasticYou ain't talking to anyone on this non-functional piece of shit protocol. Meshcore is the only mesh tech that actually works.
>>109635031I'm genuinely curious as to how this obvious grift industry is still a thing. There are literally hundreds of these meme products which just shove a raspberry pi into a terribly looking 3D printed case and yet they keep selling them to people. It's an underpowered, performative device. That's literally useless.
>>109638462Ok, show me an example of this thing running Genshin Impact. I'll wait.
