Start taking notes. Build a personal knowledge management system. Don't bother with plug-ins or fancy formatting, just use technology to journal in a productive way. Everyone should be recording their thoughts and keeping a database of what they learn.
>>
notes.txt, don't need proprietary shit for that.

idk man I just "take notes" in my brain.

This has been debunked.

Create an sqlite database.
Open it.
Create Knowledge base.
Simple as.

Joplin has built in WebDAV sync support.

Tried it twice, but everything becomes convoluted and hard to find.

It's interesting that you accomplished the exact opposite of what Obsidian is supposed to do. How did that happen? Genuinely asking. You can just sort your notes into folders and keep it simple and it's no different than any file system.

You don't have to use the weirder features. To this day I have no idea how Obsidian databases work or why I'd use them.

nah fuck off faggot, a swarm of agents is managing my second brain so I don't have to learn or remember anything, openclaw kills obsidianfaggots

Kek, true.

But I can't help but agree with OP. The amount of times I went back to my notes on how to fix, configure or install something is surprisingly high. It saves a lot of time. And I'm not even a programmer, most of my stuff is related to self-hosting or configuring individual programs.
>>
>>109636613
Shitposting aside, you can probably do both. I haven't looked into AI plug-ins, but I've heard there's a ton of them.
>>
>>109636016
You don't have to use it as a to-do app. In fact, it's not really built for that by default (if you want stuff like notifications, calendars and whatever else to-do apps have these days). There are far better use cases for Obsidian.

> LLM generated app mogs Obsidian
> LLM generated website generator mogs Obsidian publishing

I hope this bloatware meme goes bankrupt, I use my own app that just works (Tauri codemirror slop app). Even worse, their dog shit "publishing" feature, I prompted Claude have a markdown folder ("vault") to generate a site with a single button. Obsidian niggers want $10/month for that!? My domain costs less than $10/YEAR!

I'm in the same boat. Searching is just a shitshow. Theres tag search, file search, keyword search and its all super barebones and different.

I take notes, but why would I learn how to use an extremely limited proprietary(?) text editor just to take notes? Personally I use emacs but any decent text editor would be better than tying your workflow to Obsidian's bullshit when editing a .md file is such a simple task.

Too difficult to be honest I hate to say it but notion is just the best
I've also figured out that notepad in a folder with some heading formats (think:
======
Topic
======
Bla bla bla ) is best when you want to remember shit
But yeah notion is unfortunately as good as it gets if you want complexity
Obsidian is brilliant for personal wiki shit though I mean like project wikis that's kind of a life hack
>>
Joplin still sucks, it forces me use the cloud shit, instead of save as a folder/file. Importing/exporting just create another file, so I just use Zed, it have markdown view mode and isn't electron app.

Literally why would I use this when AI can already take notes for me lmao
>>
>>109635703
I created a prompt that will help save chat logs to my obsidian. It outputs the topic links and a chat overview that I put at the top of the log and then I link the log to the project folder. I've only recently started it but I really like the way everything is organized, I can easily click back to the essential parts of a convo. I do wish it weren't proprietary though. Helix notes fucking sucks.

I just tried to get this going in a docker container and all it does is proxy a desktop app into the browser? That's kinda fucked up. There's no browser-native interface for this?

What for? I'm gonna kill myself probably anyway
>>
>>109635703
It's a bit of a bloated mess, but it's one of the only note taking programs with a decent interface and format/file structure. It's staggering how utter shit most note taking programs are in that aspect.
