These assholes are responsible for the massive confusion surrounding the concept of privacy.

Your ISP, VPN and DNS providers track you. The moment you use TikTok or X, you’re being tracked. Highly precise psychological profiles of you are being created. And no, sandboxing doesn't prevent that.

I can believe that GrapheneOS is useful against Cellebrite and Pegasus.

But please, stop labeling it a "privacy" phone. If you would be honest, you wouldn't get so many attacks.

This. It's a security-focused Android ROM that can be used to enhance privacy, but if you're installing dogshit spyware on it, you're still suffering from the effects of dogshit spyware. You don't need a whole new mobile OS to sandbox things either. You can use an advanced SSB application like Peel or Native Alpha.

NTA, but I believe everything in the OP to be rather self-evident--to anyone who isn't a gullible moron, that is.

I do think the same thing but I was expecting something more.

These grapheneos FUD threads should count as advertising/begging because that's all they're doing at this point.

But it sandboxes apps from each other, you have no root google services to spy on you. It does a pretty good job with providing a solid base, but just like using Linux, it means nothing, if you install proprietary garbage and spyware apps. The base is clean, the rest of your opsec is your choice, have it as bloated and spyware infested, as you want.

Trvthnvke, hardened_malloc isn't even meaningfully better than scudo
My hedge is that the Cellebrite defense comes from zygote exec spawning instead of forking, because it probably fucks up their ASLR bypasses
>>109637539
Utter nigger retard, stock doesn't give play services "root" as you say, it's just a little more privileged. And there is zero proof it even spies on you (show me the wireshark). And to take a page out of the graphenefag playbook, every single app that uses play services has the sdk embedded in it so it could track you anyways.
>>
>>109637150
My ISP does not track me. I know almost everyone at the ISP and I know that they know that I know that they know what some people are in to. They will not be the first one to throw a stone. Consolidating all traffic and DNS through Cloudflare however, there is something to be discussed and I am not confident that anons are ready for that conversation.

To be honest, yes, In fact, you forgot to mention the big one: your cell phone provider. If you want privacy, you shouldn't even be carrying a cellphone. Of course, it's a good debloated android ROM, I use it with f-droid apps only for a tolerable smartphone experience. I do wish I didn't need a smartphone at all but it's getting increasingly difficult year-by-year to exist in society without one. I wonder how long I will be able to get by without fully committing to the botnet.

Google services has the highest privilege on stock droids.

Have a private space or separate profile for your goygle play shit like banking, nfc payment, uber, gmaps or even anti cheat vidya. And keep your main profile FOSS and minimal. I really like the private space feature, it's like a different profile in your app drawer, sandboxed and with it's own encryption key and only takes a second to open and when you are done with your spyware shit, just close it and everything in that app drawer is shut down.

>the highest privilege
No it doesn't you delusional faggot. It does not have anything close to root access. It cannot break out of the app sandbox or anything. It does have extra privileges though, but nothing unreasonable, honestly. Also keep in mind that GrapheneOS's "sandboxing" actually has special cases in several parts of the system framework just for play services.

>you delusional faggot
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you proprietary slave? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class at Harvard, and I’ve been involved in numerous free software projects, and I have contributed to over 300 core-utils for GNU. I am skilled in Lisp and I’m St. IGNU-cius, saint of the Church of Emacs. You are nothing to me but just another unethical non-free software advocate. I will distribute the fuck out of your source code with freedom the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit about me and the GPL on the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my colleagues at FSF and your binaries are being reversed engineered right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your copyright. You're fucking dead, kid. Free software can be anywhere, anytime, and it can ensure your freedom in over four ways, and that’s just with the GPLv2. Not only am I extensively skilled at hacking, but I have access to the source of the entire GNU userland and core-utils and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable proprietary code off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what ethical retribution your little “clever” program was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have ensured your users' freedom. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit free as in freedom all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

This gets exhausting to explain about GrapheneOS but maybe you are genuinely asking. You live with tradeoffs in your life yet you don't apply the argument here in good faith because you value high convenience over privacy when privacy has never been more convenient. Using F-Droid on GrapheneOS is a great experience. You also get to boycott all the requirements that are against the user's interest while also boycotting terrible companies.
>>
>>109637150
It's as private as an OS could be. If you go install spyware and connect to non private services, of course much of your data gets leaked. GrapheneOS just gives you more control over what you give to whom and makes sure its secure so nobody gets any data without user permission (other than the data apps can gather through networking, IPC, unique app ID per device and other installed applications in the same profile).
>>
>>109637150
I was wondering when the daily anti-Graphene thread would be made.
>>
>>109637909
You don't need a cellphone provider. You can still use it when connected to WiFi (which is literally everywhere), you just can't send/receive messages & calls. You can get around that though with something like Google Voice or one of the million apps like TextNow.

This is true. But getting people to use it and share its benefits with normalfags is a good thing. There's a reason why federal agents and governments are trying to depict GrapheneOS as a criminal operating system. It's because it works as advertised. The more normal and "innocent" people use it, the better. It can help create a culture where caring about security/privacy slowly becomes the default instead of whatever corporatist hellscape we find ourselves in

>>
The "privacy" community (not the security community) has become so undemanding and demoralized that they believe GrapheneOS offers genuine privacy.

They don't even believe in privacy in the pre-Snowden sense anymore.
>>
This is what I keep trying to tell my brother. The only way to have privacy as in, no one knows where you are or what you're doing, is to go live out innawoods without any modern electronics. If you're not willing to do that, there's no reason to do all kinds of autistic shit like running your own email service or whatever.

If you own a smartphone, doesn't matter which one or what software you run on it, you are being tracked and listened to everywhere you go. All of your calls and SMS/iMessage/RCS messages are logged, and every search you run is recorded. The NSA has been intercepting and decrypting Internet traffic for decades, and police departments are doing it too.
