Just starting with Linux. What should I start with?
>Omarchy
>antiX
>SteamOS
>Crunchbang Plus Plus
>Kali Linux
>Backtrack Linux
>Lunduke OS 0.2
>Guix
>gOS
Please don't suggest me any other distros unless they're similar, I know what I'm looking for.
>>
>>109639823
>that list
lmfao, nigga are you for real? Out of those distros SteamOS or Guix.
>>
>>109639823
watch youtube videos on each including videos on maintaining each distro. decide for yourself which fits your needs and seems the easiest and most logical fit.

Install Gentoo
>>
>>109639823
Either mint or arch, that list is worthless
>>
>>109639872
So Omarchy?
>>
>>109639823
>"I know what I'm looking for"
clearly you don't kek
>>
>>109639877
Mint
>>
>>109639823
>Please don't suggest me any other distros unless they're similar,
lol no, gentoo, install it now. From your list though go with omarchy and vibe your way to a functional desktop
>>
>>109639823
You need to start with Mint and call it a day. What is this bullshit list? If you were looking for niche operating systems BSD is right over there. I think you're confused.
>>
>>109639823
Install Gentoo
>>
>>109639823
Ubuntu. Everyone supports it. It comes with a good desktop experience (unfucked gnome), everything is either in its default repos already or offers a ppa. If you need any proprietary software, it will install them and not morale you, or say "b-but because of software patents, that's illegal in Burgerland (even if you don't live there)...!" like Fedora.

Everything you've listed is shit. SteamOS is the closest to "good", but it's an immutable distro made for gaming and nothing else.

Very weird list if you're completely new to Linux.

For an absolute beginner, I would recommend either Linux Mint or PopOS. From your list, I guess antiX. Don't go with something like Kali Linux. It's not intended as a daily use OS.
>>
>>109639823
omarchy is great
its arch preconfigured to be ready to go and looks nice, though getting used to hyperland (it auto tiles open windows by default) might take a minute
/g/tards like to shit on it because it is nice and easy
the rest of your choices seem insane and obscure in a way that makes me doubt the sincerity of your post
>>
>>109639823
Omarchy or Lunduke OS if you're a true chud.
SteamOS if you worship Gaben.
Guix or antiX if you hate Poettering and wish for him to die.
Any of the others if it's none of the above.
>>
There are only three Linux distros that actually matter: Debian, Arch, and Gentoo.
Debian: Start here. Get used to the command line, package management, and basic Linux navigation.
Arch: Move here next. You will build the OS from scratch, learning how Window Managers, Desktop Environments, and display servers actually tie together. This is also where you learn to "rice" (customize) your desktop.
Gentoo: The final boss. You will learn how to compile everything from source and optimize the entire system specifically for your hardware.

>somehow compiled the worst distro list
How would a Windows fag even know about half this shit?
>>
>>109639823
Honestly none of them. If you want to waste your time and feel accomplished go compile serenity in a virtual machine
>>
>>109640081
Are you saying Backtrack Linux and gOS aren't relevant and good options in the current day?
>>
>>109640066
This is so fucking gay and retarded. Just install ubuntu and actually use your computer like a functioning human.
>>
>>109640100
>rapes you with snaps (shittier flatpaks) and canonical's braindead decisions on a monthly basis
No thanks, I'd rather use NixOS.
>>
>>109639823
Omarchy is pretty cool but it's built for keyboard use and geared for local AI stuff. Go for CachyOS with Plasma.
>>
>>109639823
gos
>>
>>109639823
Avoid anything Arch or derivatives from it, dont listen to retarded anon suggesting you arch
use mint, debian, opensuse leap, zorin, etc
if you use NVIDIA, change that shit for AMD, i mean the driver it works but sooner or later is gonna bite you in the ass anyway
>>
>>109639823
Welcome to HobbyOS. I hope you spend a pleasant time troubleshooting esoteric bugs.
>>
Do ubuntu do kubuntu do xubuntu do lubuntu do fedora do not try fedora atomic, do not do anything fancy, don't get ahead of yourself.

However I like #!++ it's a nice throwback, I used to use #!
>>
>>109639823
>those distros

Just go back to windows at that point.
>>
>>109639841
>>109639872
>>109640370
Im also okay with Alpine or maybe Hackintosh but I looked at all the distros and these were the ones I liked
>>
>>109639823
fedora kde just works, aside from the occasional bug. its very boring which is what you want from your os
>>
>>109639823
Gaming?
>yes
CachyOS
>no
Mint
>>
Omarchy and other tiling window setups are NOT for beginners you won't know what the fuck to do if you drop yourself this deep
>>
>>109639823
>Lunduke OS 0.2
either troll, retard or both. either way, kys
>>
>>109639823
>Guix
I love it and genuinely believe that it is the end game for distributions, but unfortunately even reading the manual needs some prior experience with Linux. Keep it in mind after learning about basic package management, shell environments, the file system, and symlinks.
>>
>>109640100
>Just install ubuntu and actually use your computer like a functioning human.
If he used his computer like a "functioning human", he'd be better off getting an iPhone
>>
>>109639823
what the fuck is this list lmao. just use ubuntu anon.
>>
>>109640413
>Im also okay with Alpine or maybe Hackintosh but I looked at all the distros and these were the ones I liked
I'm afraid I have to tell you that you're an idiot.
>>
>>109640224
enlighten us, anon. what should they use? linux mint? so they have terrible performance due to having an old kernel. or, fedora? so that they have to use the terminal and complain later? ubuntu is the only sane option, snaps don't cause any harm to normal humans.
>>
>>109639823
Just install Debian or UBUNGU you stupid idiot.
>>
>>109640413
Unless you can name one reason why you liked those distros you are just larping and trying to be special by using shit no one has ever heard of before.
>>
>>109639823
>if you wanna learn linux
any DIY distro
>if you just wanna get a taste of linux (which means you will not know anything about linux)
any just works distro
>>
>>109639823
Use Fedora Workstation or KDE Plasma. Arch WILL break on you, and any Debian or Ubuntu Derivatives will be too old to realistically consider.

I have vibed my way through every issue on Arch, haven't wasted a single brain cell learning ANYTHING on the OS. The OS is supposed to get me working, not be the point of me sitting down in front of it.

you guys are fags.
>>
>>109639823
Arch, Debian or Fedora. Avoid those shitforks.
>>
>SteamOS
Your needs seem to be gaming related, I might incline to vanilla Arch.
Don't bother with forks, they find a way to shit the bed.
Tried Endeavour, PopOS, Mint, etc. They shit the bed on a regular basis or have poor package choice. Like Endeavour that shipped with properietary AMD drivers and everything GTK related looked like shit (it had big black bars on the frame as it couldn't work out the shadows).
>>
>>109641859
>he hasn't heard of gOS
That reflects more on you than on me
>>
>>109639823
literally all of those are meme distros
>>
>>109640039
By chad I meant that you love sucking jewish eceleb cock btw
>>
>>109639823
>Omarchy
This because deranged leftists call it a "Nazi" distro.
>>
>>109639946
I installed ubuntu 24.04 the other day and every time I logged in I was greeted with you have 4 security updates available. Where are the updates? Oh, you need to sign up for a pro subscription.
>>
>>109643926
I was stuck between that and antiX. I'm tired of non-political distros. I don't really care which way they're political, I just want them to be political.
>>
>>109644052
Use Omarchy
>>
>>109641686
Ubuntu doesn't really appeal to me, I've already picked out what I want.
