How does Halo 2 Cortana look more futuristic and exotic than today's designs? I could say this for virtually every aspect of the computer world back then. It's like they were really showing off.
Only corrrect cortana is Halo 4
>>109640243Every little aspect of Halo 2 was a labor of love, that's why. Absolute peak of the series.
The color scheme and strip patterns. Modern shit is bland white on silver crap. This shit is more /ic/ than /g/.
>>109640243Because she was made by men who gave a shit. Today cortana would be made by a group of faggots or trans people who would cut her tits off or make her an annoying boss bitch.>>109640363Halo 4 was fucking dogshit stfu.
>>109640243I don't like that they made her opaque Jen Taylor voiced by Jen Taylor playing Jen Taylor. Absolutely ruined by Jason Jones.
>>109640243At least post the remaster
on different subject is ferrari luce the halo car of year 2026
Because she and rest of the cool designs were made in a time when future was basically completely unknown.People just knew that future was going to be cool. There was no true unified design language either even if there were prominent overarching themes in design. And they absolutely were showing off. Increasing computing power made that possible and everyone wanted to push the envelope to see what they could do.When you combine that with women being hot in general and a bunch of nerds making sexy designs with a bit of Asian vibe in the mix, you get pretty damn attractive women in entertainment.
>>109640243Made by unhygienic nerds VS made by socialite women
>>109640243Back then tech and games were run by engineers and talented writers and artists with a vision, now both industries are dominated by investors and activists with no idea what they're doing, no talent and absolutely fucking no vision.
>>109640399trash doom clone
>>109642795>MUH FRUITYNIGGER AYYYEEROW!!!!>ZAMN DAT SHIT WAS BUSSIN FR!!!!!!back to tiktok zoomie
>>109640243because the lgbt force took over everything with gubment backing and hate beauty and normalacy so they force their lgbt version of attractive. she'd be a boss bitch dyke trans helicopterdemi dragonlamb kin and be fat and titless and be a male hating feminist.
>>109643074Getting triggered at the sight of early 2000s design, just because you have a knee jerk reaction to zooms liking and naming it is fucking retarded.Like it or not but that was the futuristic stuff we had around back then.Pretty hard talking about the design or the spirit of the era without bringing up your personal trigger there. But here's a pic that's more faithful to the era. Bit less of the grass, water and vibrant colors, maybe this lessens the blow a bit for you.
>>109643207>the spirit of the eraThe spirit of the era had nothing to do with the design. He's right zoom zoom.
>>109643214Lol, you clearly weren't alive back then or lived in some Eastern shitpit or a rural region in the US without any technology. Here in Finland tech and design around it was absolutely part of the culture and the spirit of the early 2000's, which was also the case in most places with the clearest example being Japan. To even imply that spirit of the era had nothing to do with the design is beyond retarded, when the entire subject of design was an integral part of the tech boom, which was a massive cultural driver.I swear some of you guys just want to be part of some imaginary "cool kids club", but in reality were born in the very late 90's or early 2000's and didn't even really even experience the early 00s as you weren't even old enough to walk.
>>109643207Schools loved their Apple. I just threw away one of those. It looked cool, but weighed 50kg and had no built-in handle.
>>109640243I'm really glad that my observation resonated with you enough to repost it into its own thread, anon.>>109640363The shader, texture and face wasn't the best it could have been.
Am I the only one here that wants to bang Cortana until her womb is the size of a basketball?
>>109640243people got lazy you see it all over society "good enough" is king
>>109644898no but we're having a serious discussion
>>109644898lets see have you downloaded international voices yet
>>109643385Nice projection zoom zoom. Too bad we can tell you're a post 9/11 fag just by the way you write.
>>109640363While Halo 4 is shit, its Cortana version is pure sex
>>109647446ok, but which cortana has the cutest face?
>>109643207>>109643385>>109642795Back when there was hope for the future.
TECHNOLOGY????????????
Amusing how many technical techniques that Bungie had to employ to make Halo 2 run>Halo 2 had some notoriously bad pop-in issues with textures and geometry >Pop-in, level-of-detail popping, and occasional slowdowns were more visible during cinematics than in regular gameplay. Objects and environments would transition between detail levels noticeably, and distant geometry could appear low-detail or pop in abruptly>Another thing that was quite heavily downgraded in the transition from halo CE to halo 2 were the sparks and particle effects system. The impressive sparks from CE’s grenades, ricochet and explosions are nowhere to be seen. They were replaced with essentially a 2D gif of a spark>Halo 2 does not render in 480p natively on xboxhttps://icode4.coffee/?p=738>Halo 2 using HDD cache>Outskirts (old mombasa) has a texture cache size of ~19MBhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv-_LFTjjzU>Halo 2 does have realtime shadows with some lights, particularly ceiling lights (such as on Zanzibar)>The original Xbox had two different console types, the retail consoles that consumers would buy with 64MB of RAM, and a development console (or dev kit/debug console) that was used by game developers with 128MB of RAM. The extra RAM on the development console helped developers debug their games and run additional test code during the development process>Bungie guys were all excited about "Stencil shadows on everything">To get the scale of missions they wanted for halo 2 the lighting tech and real time reflections etc where too costly on the OG Xbox to be feesable at the scale they where going for. So it was removed>Some dynamic lighting spots in Halo 2 are Foundation, Cairo station at the end of the level there is a dynamic light source in the elevator, The Oracle there are dynamic flashing ceiling lights after the cable is cut, Outskirts the flashing light above the doorway at the start of the level and in the Hotel
