Unlike Webp, AVIF has a baseline profile that was explicitly made to be be fed into AV1 hardware decoders. JXL for all the cool shit it has, does not have this advantage, everyone is essentially crossing their fingers really hard that software JXL decoding will become super duper fast in the future so nobody will care.You can preview what this is like with webm related, it was a png converted to VP9 yuv420p with stream loop enabled. If your playback device supports VP9 hardware video decoding then this will completely bypass the CPU as it scams the VP9 hardware video decoder thinking it's a video file. Same thing happens with AVIF on AV1 hardware decoders except it's now more standardized and not just a shitty hack like webm related.

Added JPEG XL to my chan. Still a few kinks to work out. This is a very insecure format for being so new. PNG has start/stop boundaries. JPEG XL by design does not and in fact is designed to permit garbage added to the file. Must have been a 4chan poster that made this.
