People were complaining about Omarchy getting $8m in funding, so someone gave them $2m more.
>>
>>109644897
$10m is pocket change in todays world.
Worst part about omarchy is the keyboard focused autism, why does he hate GUI?
I like my mouse.
Also he is trying too hard to create agentic-OS running on local ram, linux fags hate agentic workflows.

>>109644947
Well because gnome/kde just funds linux conferences in india/africa they don't actually deliver good software.
Both gnome/kde have been up for decade at least, and their product sucks.
If omarchy just emerged and already delivers, why not.
If omarchy doesn't want to be a meme they will create their own DE (has to be functional unlike gnome/kde also can't just be keyboard 100% shortcut autism workflow)
>>
>>109644999
And what does Omarchy do except CSS stylesheets of Gtk (made by GNOME)?
>>
>>109645020

The selling point behind Omarchy (besides culture war, and a hub for those who burned bridges with Freedesktop member organizations) is - get this:

"Malleable Desktop"?

What's that? It means AI/LLM agents run your PC for you, similar to how Microsoft wants. Your 'PC' is supposed to be a canvas, and clankers are supposed to run amok in it (not on top of it, they have root access, which is a 'feature').

The Hyprland dotfiles package is supposed to be simultaneously bare bones, and filled with bloatware. And you are encouraged to vibecode bespoke configurations, and original personalized slop widgets.

Anyways, maybe the next version is opinionated just the right to include the Linkedin keyboard shortcut Windows 11 added.

This will help make Linux mainstream and finally bring the legendary year of the Linux desktop
>>

I don't know why people are funding this. There has to be some ulterior motive somewhere because ain't noway a dotfiles installer script is worth that much.

>>
>>109645174
they want to rebuild chudslop nixos, but they don't know category theory, so their chudslop will be inconsistent, so you'll just have to reinstall every few times when an install fails and then a rollback subsequently fails, and also sometimes your installs won't be perfectly reproducible, but that's probably good enough for them.

>>109648361
Yeah, pic related, they literally hijack the AUR repo with their own proxy, then left the default as TrustAll so they can pretend to be hacked at some point in the future and install some sort of crypto stealer or glow in the dark spy software.

If you use any agents (it's encouraged by the distro so you might) then it might read some .md file somewhere and it can use privilege escalation to do whatever it wants. Alternatively, the OS also sports many remote code execution exploits so you can also get hacked that way.

This. Basically they created hyperland by funding it. Money will get traded. This is how scales of economy works. I think we’re going to see a lot more of this.
>>
Omarchy is the first Linux distro that works bug free as a desktop os and contains all the tools you’d need to have a comfortable experience. Everything else is just garbage. Gnome, kde, cinnamon, xfce etc. ok sure I could instead install arch and hyperland. But why? This is perfection in a bottle. I don’t game outside of wow classic so I don’t need full Bazzite. Nothing against Bazzite. It’s a great distribution. Kde and gnome ruin the experience. Kde comes so close to perfection but it shits itself in confusion after like a week of use and gnome is ios for retards and somehow uses a ton of ram for no reason. I’m sitting here using it having fun enjoying my pc again. The devs being right wing is just a plus. Stay mad faggots.
>>
>>109648949
Like every other desktop on Linux is a disaster. Glitchfests. Everyone claiming it “works on their machine” but they barely function at all. They blame the user instead of fixing the fucking bugs. They claim “skill issue” because their shit breaks nonstop. Bitch I just want to use my fucking pc. Get the fuck out of my face with your bullshit. It’s criminal how bad desktops on Linux are these days.
>>
>>109648974
I mean kde was always kinda terrible but at least gnome or xfce was usable. Cinnamon is ok but moving icons around causes them to dance around instead of moving slowly and they will glitch out and crash cinnamon if you have too many. Xfce is just broken. Hyperland actually functions as intended and doesn’t eat up all my ram doing it.

they are the sole contributers to hyprland, sure they didn't direcetly code it, they are the reason it went from nothing in 2022 to what it is today. They work closely with them, so if theres any bugs or something that an update would bring, they can figure out how to fix it before sending updates out to your PC. The tools they prepackaged make it feel complete. I think theres 1 tool I don't actually use. I could remove it, but meh I don't care enough. It's like how Fedora directly backs Gnome. Except it's not a bloated ram hog only to give you a less good iOS clone. It is less conjoined than Linux Mint is with Cinnamon except hyprland actually works as intended.
Omarchy is hyprland like Linux Mint is Cinnamon.

american tax law is broken.
you have to pay out SOMEWHERE.
Let's say I make $10m in 3 months, I either need to pay 20% of that which is $2m, plus a 3.8% net investment tax with a threshold of $250,000

Let's say instead of doing ALL that I instead donate $100,000 to Children's Miracle Life Network, I only have to pay 30% of appreciable assets instead. So I take my initial investment and subtract it from the initial $10m, Usually comes around ~$650k, that's only $195,000+$100,000=~$300,000USD

I am grossly oversimplifying tax law here, it is FAR more involved, but the end result is still the same. It just has to be charitable and have a paper trail. If what I invest in is American, I get a -15% etc. And I have to calculate each time I traded etc to get to where I am at, by calculating the delta to find the alpha.

I can then leverage the donation with a futures contract. That means for X amount of time you have to produce Y, and I will give you an initial donation, and money over time for you to continue doing your thing, and if I can leverage that with a tax writeoff, the leverage is tax free. They can't disappear though or they go to federal prison. This ensures that they remain honest with whatever they do. If you think it's just money laundering, think again. And if the government can't find you should you skip the country, I have more than enough money to find your ass and take my investment out of your body.

>>109649418
I explained how futures works a bit but futures demands a future with a project, if something is woke, it's not looking good for their future. if you don't like it, I don't care. Not my problem.

They donated to hyprland first from 2022-current day and backed them. They showed that they wanted to produce something of value. So it's more than .files. there is a significant monetary reason to donate to it, it shows that they care about scales of commerce. All the freetard distros run around, and I have asked for them to do things, and got screamed at. The devs acted like gay little angry trolls. Maybe learn how to be nice, being nice can make you a ton of money. Being a dick to someone like me will make me walk away. Cuz you aint manifesting a positive atmosphere like that. Manifest better.

the new trick is to set up a charitable foundation for software then donate to it to get a tax break if you want bespoke software that you expect to not profit from.

That's the trick that OpenAI used, it was a tax free black hole for billionaires to hire their friends and have them build cool shit, unfortunately as it became more obvious that they were going to make stacks Elon got pissed that he didn't get equity in exchange for the money he donated (which he obviously got the tax advantage for).

They didnt built everything, they just put together a free, integrated system, with existing free components like TeX, X11 and Perl, combined with their own programs. You dont have to build everything, since the point of free software is to reuse existing software to prevent duplication of effort.

This is a project that uses the very same distribution that compiles in telemetry to KDE as a base for their distro. What's to stop Arch from adding telemetry to some core Omarchy package?
>>
he's literally seething that I canceled my contract with the demiurge. fuck the archons, fuck the jews, and fuck the antichrist. I am one with the monad. I trust the project that DOESN'T include telemetry.

opt-out is a cop-out

arch only compiles things based on what's provided by the developers of a project, they don't care that much bro. should that change I am sure other distros exist.
I will not be installing spyware, no matter the OS.

And Omarchy doesn't make anything themselves, now do they? They are vulnerable to decisions upstream software vendors make.
They even ship Spotify, an app which I bet has a hell of a lot more invasive telemetry than what KDE is doing.

they made hyprland. seethe.
>>
>>109649695
They configured some dotfiles. They didn't "make" it.
>>
>>109649690
They make some shitty shell scripts and configs. That's literally it. $10M for this.
>>
>>109649695
the one that has a literal popup ad begging for donations? that one?
>>

The largest financial backing for Hyprland comes from the Omacom Foundation, which secured an $8 million initial fund—expanded by another $2 million—with contributions of $1 million each from prominent tech leaders including DHH (David Heinemeier Hansson), Michael Dell, Jack Dorsey, Patrick Collison, Tobi Lütke, Matthew Prince, Jason Fried, and Brendan Iribe.

what's it like being this wrong your entire life?

This is like Brave, bait to trick non-tech-savvy people to use something that is bad for them. For example Brave sounds good, but in reality it is Google Chromium that doesn't have reproducible binaries (non-free and proprietary). Then they can do multiple MITMs and sell user data illegally, all while fans are defending them. Then they use millions of dollars to advertise and spam bot accounts to fight against facts.
>>
>>109649708
They didn't make Hyprland. Supporting it financially is not "making something".
>>
>>109649702
>money bad
this is why you don't have $10,000,000 in your bank account
>>
well this was a fun evening, but it seems I have other things to do that are more fun than this.
>>
>>109649734
now kiss and make up
>>
>>109649714
Moreover the support came after Hyprland was built. Not only does it violate sense, it violates causation.
>>
>>109649802
bought and paid for, same thing, we invented hyprland by giving them money.

Out of all of them, the webdev Callous probably hurts the most lmao
