It's crazy to me how society glosses over how brute forced and retarded the current learning algorithms are. You shouldn't need thousands of hours of footage just to learn to wash a dish. I don't expect the current algorithms to get even remotely close to AGI or to automate anything but the most retarded and repetetive jobs. One of the main reasons I feel that way is how shitty and unelegant the current approaches feel
>>109645019No, they have spatial sensors to detect size differences.
>>109652267>One of the main reasons I feel that way is how shitty and unelegant the current approaches feelnot just feel, *are*. The energetic inefficiency of so-called "AI" is grotesque. It's like requiring a truckload of coal for 1 measly light bulb. They can only brute-force tasks and only if you're very generous on what "task completed successfully" actually means.Nature has had billions of years to work on optimizing neural nets, and it still consumes 20% of our daily carbs. Intelligence is frigging HARD. It's never going to happen. It'll stay with pixelslop generators, and that's it.
>>109652389Because nature optimised for efficiency while big tech with infinite money optimised for capabilities and speed. Your brain eats like 30% of your calories, so even from the first neutron clusters developed in jellyfish nature needed to optimise mainly for energy costs.
