>>109645175Where in my post do I say "VPNs are safe" and shill for a commercial VPN service? I was talking about setting up your own VPN on a server you are renting in addition to using it as a seedbox. That gives you more control over how everything is run but obviously only a retard wouldn't understand that it's a server that you don't have 100% control over. Nothing besides a server that is run in your house is and even then your ISP can see things like unencrypted SNI when you connect to websites. To put everything I just said simply you're acting smug invoking a threat model that nobody is optimizing for. This isn't making you seem as intelligent as you think it does.

>>109647145uoh
>>109649682Clients are approved or forbidden based on their behavior. If they fuck up things like reporting stats they get blacklisted. This has happened with releases of actually approved clients that had bugs in them. This is why when new versions of clients are released they are not immediately approved. So besides violating the rules you're taking a gamble on the Tixati dev not fucking something up and causing you to stick out like a sore thumb, leading to a ban.
>>109649689i'm still using tixati 2.x.x, works on a bunch of trackers like AB just fine. i dont get the obsession with updating to the newest thing if it's not a security issue.would still be on 2.2.1 if it was still whitelisted everywhere, the only issues it had were very easy fixes in settings, the buffer overflow from spam piece requests and local discovery.
>>109649704Well all your gloating about it has caught my attention. I am interested in fingerprinting the client now. Should be a fun project.
>>109649718tix has the best aesthetic of any client by far like the logo alone is kino, good bit to customize as well and make it pretty with fonts and colors for the different states of downloading, seeding, finished etc.sucks that it's not on whitelists for most of the good trackers though

That's how a buddy of mine got on. He created a Gem on gemini, a project where he uploaded a doc file of all the RED material. He added instructions for it to respond to questions briefly in plain English. When he went and took the interview he had it split screen on windows. He pasted the question into gemini and in flash mode got the answer instantly. It was already paraphrased, but he typed it manually in his own words on red. He passed. The hardest part was getting the interview to begin with. I'm guessing he wasn't alone. He's still a member on there and it's been a year almost. Now I can't know that's why it's been shut down. But I wouldn't be surprised, because I'm sure it's an epidemic.

My plan is to take shit from JPS and dump it over the period of one or two months. Ideally, I'm supposed to upload in like 3 formats, right? Some anon told me that long ago, so I would actually need like 150 "real" uploads, or something. This is it. The end for me, one really last autism spree. I have to complete my neet private tracker autism collection before I get a real job irl, it's now or never. Can someone help me understand video encoding file sizes in a general sense?I'm looking at downloading a 4k rip of some movie, but there are so many different file sizes for seemingly the exact same encode. (h265, 10bit, dolby 7.1 etc.) I understand the 50gb~ ones are lossless remuxes, but the other ones range from like 9gb up to about 25gb. Would the image quality be that much different between the two?
>>109655157It entirely depends on the actual material. In all likelihood the 9gb is total ass cheeks but how well something compresses depends on things like the amount of motion in specific scenes and things like that. File sizes are less important than getting an encode that was made by a person who is competent.
>>109655157even 25gb 4k encodes are pretty shit and bitstarved. the remuxes are around 60-80gb and the encodes on non-curry trackers are around 40-50gb. 9gb is yify tier and only allowed on trackers with a predominantly indian userbase.

>>109655066That's a man.
>>109655233Don't care. Would.
>>109655157The most decisive factor is your TV size and viewing distance. I can't tell a difference between a remux and a 6000kbps x265 rip on my ancient ass Full HD TV. And that's just fine with me. How do you run your scene releases on Linux? Most of the stuff I've tried to run via Bottles doesn't work.
>deletes the torrent because it doesn't have enough compression layers and it's a single file instead of 500 split rarsGod, I LOVE scene release, I wish EVERY release had to follow scene's rules. It just doesn't hit the same to download a movie and watch it, I NEED to decompress 100 split rars into an ISO file that contains a custom installer that's so needlessly overengineered it doesn't run on wine and has my CPU going 100% for 2 hours and also it puts an entry on my main menu so that I can finally watch a movie by double clicking the desktop shortcut

>>109658997Every single usenet indexer has the same shit as general/scene trackers, it doesn't really matter which one you use. Some are just better at covering the scene in general like treasure-maps
>>109665846Wait til you learn about scene 0DAY rules. It's multiple RARs like ISO, but each individual RAR is in its own ZIP file. Now that's convenient! When one group tried to ignore this dumb rule, some retard threatened to doxx them: https://defacto2.net/f/a61a301
>>109658997I'm in nzbs and omg and have never once actually had to use either of them for anything. Uselessnet really is an accurate euonym for it since it has worse retention than top tier trackers and struggles with automation. The only benefit is if you have very limited storage space and cannot effectively maintain ratios, then I suppose it partially justifies being a usenet paypig.
>>109666188that was cringe
>>109666188The rule is stupid but you can't simply ignore rules and start doing what you want without getting a council of other groups together to agree upon new ones. It goes both ways. Ignoring rules to fill the scene up with non-standard releases that are better could also enable worse ones. Take it from me, the loophole finding expert with knowledge of how site scripts worked who had to back down later because nukers caught on to his behavior. Pissing against the stream only gets you so far.

>>109667071The person who wrote it was right on the technical details. Everything else was completely unnecessary. But that's what happens when nobody has a native English speaker in the group to farm out the insult writing to.
>>109667080Right about what? I don't think "it's always been this way so it should continue being this way" is a valid argument. Even if they keep the RARs, the stupid ZIP inside RAR shit is too much and needs to be retired.
>>109667094I don't think it is either but it's not up to a single group to make the decision to change it. "Teehee we're going to radically alter the format of releases on x date, everyone else should too, update your site scripts accordingly" is not how that works. All the groups need to get together and agree upon changes or what's the point of the scene in the first place? Even on private trackers there are rules about how these things are supposed to be handled. If you don't have enough pull in the scene to gather people to hash this out or you don't dominate your specific scene on the level of a group like RNS, LOL/DIMENSION, ECHELON then it's just not going to happen.
Some scene history as far as major sweeping changes go. The two big ones I can remember:https://scenerules.org/html/2004_HQ_MP3.html I seem to remember a longer document about how this was going to come into effect on Jan 1, 2004. The most notable holdout here is WCR, the ancestor of the still active C4/PERFECT. They refused to adopt VBR mp3 encoding and stuck with 192k even into 2005 after rebranding the group to escape their past negative reputation. They finally relented later on. I always suspected it was because of their (very one sided) rivalry with RNS. I was annoyed every time some group released something I was waiting for in CBR in 2004.https://torrentfreak.com/bittorrent-pirates-go-nuts-after-tv-release-groups-dump-xvid-120303/ This is a more modern example. LOL/DIMENSION was so dominant and held so much sway in the TV scene that basically what they said was what goes. The still active FQM tried to challenge them by continuing to release XviDs but eventually relented. You can do these things when you're on top.
>Your popcorn quota has been reached, come back later! What's that shit? Never seen it before. And I only refreshed five pages just now.
>upload a torrent>watch ~10 people autosnatch it>uploading less than 3MB/s to them collectivelythese autosnatchers ratio cuck me on my own uploads and i figured they were sneedbox chads but looking at the speeds they're pulling these guys must be on third world residential connections. routing priority is a bitch when you're the only white man on a curry tracker i suppose. every day i learn something that makes me even more racist than i was the day before, will it ever end?
>>109667491Racism correlates with low intelligence.
>>109667491Shit peering is almost a constant on residential connections. It has less to do with how rich your country is and more to do with ISPs dumping traffic on the path of least resistance. Europe in general has it better than anywhere else in the world but they also benefit from all the cheap hosting providers used for seedboxes being on the continent. North America to North America is good too. But if you live in the Asia-Pacific region, rich or poor country, you're kinda fucked. Here in SEA I've got it better than most people in Australia with my 1gbit FTTH but neither of us are ever gonna win on peering.
A feature BitTorrent V3 needs: multiple threads from a single peer. I can talk about shit peering all day but my workaround is having a seedbox and downloading from it over https with many threads. My seedbox could be on the fucking moon with a whole second of ping routed through three continents and doing that I can still get great speeds. Having the option to do this over BitTorrent would improve things so much.

>>109669546They use bots to bring in scene releases and releases from other trackers.
>>109669546>Why would you upload to IPT for example for some russian asshole to take home massive profits? Some people are really dumb and do it because they can't get into PTP.

>>109666217The thing is joining those premium trackers is something that would take years. TL -> MAM -> Red -> Blu or whatever the current meta path is. And still there's this looming threat of being banned because of ratio so once you finally join you can't just download whatever you want anyway. You have to spend another year building favorable ratio through FL or maybe occasional upload. All of that takes time. And that's something I don't have. I have spare income tough so paying for usenet is lesser deal to me than maintaing favorable relation with Cabal.
>>109668860baste transmission chad, i also use it
i remember years ago somebody here invited me to ipt and i never used it. im sorry
>>109670178A few issues with what you're saying.1. You can only pay for the low tier usenet indexers, you can't buy your way into anything good like in/omg2. Joining premium trackers takes about 2 years. Is there effort required? Yes absolutely, but you're making it seem like it's some decade long journey and I can tell you have no idea what you're talking about because you can't jump from TL to anywhere.3. Ratio is only an issue for your first tracker. If you prioritize freeleech and build up a decent seedsize, by the time you get your next tracker in the path a lot of your torrents will be cross seedable which means you will start the new one with a decently high bonus point rate. Also, higher end trackers are far more generous when it comes to bp than lower tier ones. For example, BTN is completely ratioless, and on HDB I have a seedsize of ~1.5tb and generate enough bp to wipe out 250gb of download every 8 days. PTP is not quite as easy but again, 99% of things you download will be cross seedable so you can simply download from easy trackers like BTN and HDB, cross seed to PTP for bp, and then spend the bp for the rare times you actually need something exclusive to PTP.
IPT is good because the goat voices38 posts his releases there before anywhere else.

>>109669546The key to monetizing piracy is to create arificial scarcity. You run an nzb indexer? Limit daily nzb downloads (this one is the funniest because there is NO logical reason that explains those limits to your paypigs, you can't blame this on space or bandwidth)You have a DDL site? Limit speeds for non-premium users. You have a torrent tracker? Sell accounts or give freeleech in exchange for donations.Content is king, remember that every dead torrent on a public tracker, every takedown, every dead link plays to your advantage. People who run pay2pirate operations would love to eradicate all free sources so you're forced to pay for their shit.Alternatively, you can sell exclusive early access, selling leech that didn't hit pre channels yet to third world pressing plants used to be a thing in the gameiso scene.

>>109670220I don't think you've disproven my argument about the invested time. You say two years. OK. That's a bit shorter than I tought but still it's two years and a necessity to follow some strict rules about what to download and when. Compared to usenet where I can simply join and download and it costs me few dollars a month. I don't dispute the fact that more obscure or better quality stuff is only available at private trackers but unless I want that specific sort of thing it really is much less hassle to just saturate my needs at usenet.I don't say you should switch from your torrent setup to usenet. Hell no. You already joined trackers you want. But for me and tons of other people usenet way is a really good alternative.

So not worth itDS is actually very decent for an indexer that's only semi-private at this point given they have open signups at least once or twice a year. Especially for new releases they often quickly have the better ones from higher tier private trackers way before they make their way to lower tier ones (if they ever make it there at all). Even besides new stuff, I'd say it's better than the trackers you could compare it to in terms of ease of access (TL, Seedpool etc)
