Guys, what do you mean by liquid metal? Do I need a special one or will any do? I've broken an old termometer and put a couple of drops of mercury on the cpu, seems to be working fine, but now I'm wondering if different liquid metals have different performance and maybe I should've gotten something else, but where does one even get liquid metals other than mercury lol.

Other times I just twist the CPU cooler around, take it off, add another drop, and plop the whole sticky mess back on. The clamping force on the coolers for a ThinkCentre Tiny or EliteDesk DM is high enough that it genuinely doesn't fucking matter once you have "enough" on there, and the handful of machines I bothered replacing their stock VRM/Southbridge pads on probably run cooler than any machine I've ever used.My own machines? I removed the IHS on all of my remaining Ivy Bridge machines in like 2018, applied 3 coats of conformal coating on the rest of the chip, put liquid metal on that bitch, and used RTV to put the IHS back on.
