>can't use my Model M because I can't operate without a Windows key anymore
tandy modern hp laptop logo that's racist
>words words wordsthere used to be infographics for this stuff
>>109666053They became outdated. Be the change you want to see.
>>109665725Rebind right alt or right Ctrl or caps lock
>>109665725The unicomp ones have a winkey, though their prices have surged in recent years thanks to the tariffs.
>BudgetIdeally no more than A$100>Location (continent at least)Australia>Preferred switch typeSomething less clicky, I think I've used brown ones before>LayoutI think I prefer ISO>Form factorI'd like a 75% one as I have limited space>BacklightDon't care, if it comes with such I'd like to be able to turn it off>Previous/current keyboardsHonestly don't remember, it's been a while.I'd like for something that I can get off Amazon ideally, sorry for being a demanding cunt.
>>109668646>thanks to the tariffsidgi. Does someone have to smuggle those springs out of Russia in their asshole? How are they more expensive than Topre now?
>>109669583A lot of american companies got fucked thanks to the tariffs, actually. The ones that make prebuilt PCs especially (there's no such thing as a made in america GPU, or CPU, or...).
>>109669653That's not tariffs, that's printing money to buy all the PC parts for AI bullshit. You seriously think tariffs made finished goods prices go up 3x when the joke rate is 100%?
>>109665368i almost bought one at goodwill for $3 once. space invaders are pretty neat and how mx blues should have felt. was the only mechanical keyboard i skipped on in my collection.
Happy 1 month anniversary to my model f order hopefully Joe doesn't read my posts here and sends me a mail bomb or something
>>109671083You can still get working rt101+ for like 50 bucks on eBay they're total sleeper keyboardsProblem is they're prone to chatter so my n key presses twice sometimes
>>109671816sweet brah
>>109669720AI bullshit just exacerbated the problem. Before AI made PC component prices skyrocket it was tariffs that made anything that wasn't made in the US (because factories to make said thing didn't exist) skyrocket in price.
>>109665368 i just bought a Keychron Q6.
>>109671854yeah i think they used to be like $20 back when i was collecting. i actually bought a rt101+ on ebay that came in the original box for really cheap but someone put an actual rarer doubleshot ANSI forward elctronics complicated alps keyboard in it. my other biggest regret was selling that. haha ive never ever seen another one even online.
Might splurge and get a custom cap set made, not sure if I should advertise to have groupbuy retards fund me. Its Ar Ciela script for a long running project, which can now really take off with local LLM's.
>>109673846AI and Hormuz is like 90% of it. PC parts have huge margins and tariffs are practically 30% max. They can absorb that like it's nothing and amortize the price increase over several years. They can't absorb demand from AI companies with infinite fake money or outbid research labs for the last bottle of good helium.
>>109674206Just one example, but Hyte had to raise prices on their PC cases due to the tariffs. You can find the exact numbers for how much their own costs shot up due to said tariffs in that 3 hour GN vid on the tariffs.
>>109674393>HyteWho? PC cases are largely cheaper now than they were 7 years ago. Or the same nominal price, which is basically 30% cheaper. Probably because nobody is building a new PC with current RAM, flash, CPU, GPU prices.
>>109674454If you don't know who hyte is you've been living under a rock anon.
>>109674454In ~2014 I could buy a mid tower case for like 40 bucks from phanteks not that rosewill garbageThe same tier of case is now over 50 dollarsBack then 200 for a corsair 2000d was considered obscene now its a relatively normal price for a high end case
>>109674468Some company totally irrelevant to the retail case market apparently.>>109674582USM2 has more than doubled since 2014. The same case would be $90 if real prices stayed the same. Real price of cases and PSUs is at all time lows currently.
>>109674582Also the 200D was always broke shit for retards.
>>109674837Ah yeah because I took into account inflation that means higher number is actually lowerNobody argued inflation doesn't exisr
>>109671816I waited 1.5 months for mine to be on it's way. It's to be expected, you'll be getting an e-mail with a tracking link next month probably. Also holy shit he updated his site after however many years of the project running lol
lol, finally, ordering extra keycaps won't cause a fucking headache
>mildly interested in ergo keyboards>all decent ones cost 600 bucks or morewtf
>>109677896I can build you a dactyl for about half that.
>>109677784Ya super excited I've never used a beamspring beforeHoping i like it if not I'll be sad
>>109677896Why not a kinesis or an ergodox
Typing with only my right hand and having to look down at the keyboard since muscle memory is no longer active
>>109677896wdym? as far as mass-produced options go, the glove80 is the gold standard and it's $425(maybe you use non-burger dollars idk)
Is krytox lube necessary for springs? Is it really that much better than a generic chinese brand? I really only care about function don't care if it makes them quieter.
>>109677921I think some of you have gone insane, this is a medieval torture device. There is no way hands can type on that thing.
>>109684098The whole point is that it conforms to the shape of your hand. You can find typing vids on youtube of dactyls, kinesis too. It's far more comfortable to type on than a flat row staggered board to be honest.
I changed the USB-C cable on my Model B104 beamspring keyboard and it seems to have died for no clear reason as a direct result. Leyden Jar controller seems to still be electrically responsive. No fucking clue what's gone wrong with it. Any ideas on not having a $500 paperweight? I would invoke the limited warranty but Joe charging me $50/hr. and shipping could very easily total the cost of the fucking thing if it ends up more complicated than thought, and I think Joe knows that.
>>109684771Oh also obvious shit>Both cables involved are fine>Keyboard also does not power on when connected to USB-C over something like a phone>If it's something really stupid like a bootloader mode being invoked by key-combo, there's no Joe-listed key-combo anywhere and I doubt that since it doesn't show up in the Leyden Jar firmware tools that handle such things, this thing is currently just a brick
>>109684771At worst you should be able to replace the controller if that's what's fucked. Send an email to the manu anyway just in case he has some troubleshooting steps that could fix the issue.
>>109684841Yeah emailing Joe is on my list. Hoping that if anything comes of the warranty it'll just be a free Leyden Jar. Will be an annoying soldering job but I'll happily take even $50 and my time over another $400. Sucks that I love this keyboard so much I'd even remotely entertain buying another!
>was supposed to be shipped this monthwaiting months for groupbuys sure is fun
>>109674062Tragic. Enjoy it while it lasts, chatter gets so bad over time on Keychron boards and I have one that's just entirely unresponsive until I hit a key like 30 times and it *maybe* registers once.Use the limited time you have to fuck around with modding or testing out other switches if you so wish.
>>109685215Once had to wait 18 months for a group buy to deliver. Glad that's unlikely to ever happen again.
>>109685215Its OK I have another month+ before my keeb ships
are there any keyboards with lids?
>>109689002YesNo I will not tell you how to find them
>>109689021
