What's G.Skill QC like? I had a 64gb RAM kit I bought in 2024 which started having trouble last month so I shipped it back and got a replacement kit this month which is also failing under load. Like 5-15 minutes into OCCT it starts spitting errors.
It wasn't worth the effort to sell my old 16gb kit in 2024 so I've put that back in and ran the same test back to back for 6 hours without a single issue.
is it normal for an RMA replacement from these guys to be DOA? Is there anything I can do except tell them to replace it again and hope I get a good set?

You need to share more of your PC hardware details, because it's unlikely GSkill would be sending you defective replacement kits that would waste everyone's time and money.
>CPU & motherboard models
>Memory kit XMP/EXPO rated speed & primary timings
>Test condition: XMP/EXPO enabled? What are the memory-related CPU voltages & memory voltages

If you ran the memory tests with EXPO/XMP enabled, that may be causing instabilities.
If you ran the memory tests with a CPU overclock (either manual or board feature like AI OC), that may be causing instabilities.

I saw a LGA1700 board on sale for €29 the other day, I even have a CPU that I'm not using to pair with it, but it just doesn't make sense to buy because it's a DDR5 board.
AM5 is still sort of fine though because CPU pricing is good. You can get a €150 AM5 CPU that's as good as or better than a €300+ AM4 CPU and that price difference about makes up the difference in platform costs if you don't need huge amounts of RAM.

It's a tradeoff between PPI & display size.
There's only two 5K gaming monitors widely available in the US, both are IPS.
One of them is an LG miniLED with mediocre local dimming performance, and costs nearly $1000 after taxes.
>>
>>109665781
That 14900K is 8 weeks old, has never been overclocked or overvolted and the mobo was up to date on a 2026 BIOS version with the Raptor Lake microcode fixes already applied before the CPU was installed.
I obviously can't 100% rule out CPU issues but if one RAM kit fails and one RAM kit works then it's probably a RAM problem, right?

>The 64gb kit is failing at stock
You need to test individual modules of this kit @ stock JEDEC settings (installed in A2).
You should also check the BIOS has CPU microcode 0x12F installed, and set an IA VR Voltage limit (1.4 to 1.45V).
That option should be in [Advanced CPU Configuration] section of the OC tab

64GB is more stressful for the CPU IMC to run than 32GB.
If individually testing the modules in that 64GB kit returns no errors, the CPU likely can't handle the full 64GB configuration.
You can't completely rule out a problematic CPU.

You don't seem to understand the fact that DDR4 IC manufacturing and module packaging is a very mature process in 2026.
There's simply a higher likelihood of his CPU being the issue after his purchased and RMA replacement DDR4 64GB kits are both reporting stress test errors.
Memory, VRAM, and GPU stress tests are all CPU stress tests. You need to be 100% sure the CPU is stable when you run these tests.

>trust the memory companies
Don't put words in my mouth, it's about his 14900K having a higher likelihood of being defective vs. a mature DDR4 IC & packaging causing issues.

>It's not your responsibility to troubleshoot their bullshit when the whole idea is just enable XMP and go

Test every single module in the RMA'd kit individually, don't stop after 1 stick reports an error..
If they all report error, your CPU's almost certainly defective (extremely low chance of all RMA'd sticks being.defects).
If they all pass the test, your CPU IMC likely degraded for whatever reason.
If some of the modules in the kit report errors, GSkill likely fucked up.

You're not wasting you time, you're building a case against GSkill or Intel either way.

I made you a small pixel perfect mockup, try viewing it without scaling.
How far away do you have to be from the screen in order for the boxes 1 and 2 to look like they're both pink with no pattern breaks?
How far away until boxes 1 and 2 seem to be two equal pink rectangles?
How far away until you stop seeing the red line 3?

protip: I can still see the pattern break from 2.5ft away on my 27" 4k panel, and 10ft are barely enough for #3 to become fuzzy, and I'm 33% of the way into legal blindness

G.skill didn't question the kit that was sent and sent a replacment.

That says two things. Something was wrong with the kit despite the "mature" process, and the CPU is unlikely the culprit. Do you honestly think g.skill would fill an RMA out the goodness of their hearts in this environment? I would say no.

You can't magically have bad RAM as confirmed by g.skill as they sent a replacement and suddenly have CPU issues.

You want to blame the 14900k based on PAST issues that have been addressed and as far as anyone can be concerned and the evidence out there, are not a problem in 2026 especially with a brand-new chip, that has never seen an old BIOS.

Based on my experience. G.skill is not sending their best. This supposed "mature" process might as well be gobbledygook marketing bullshit. All that matters is if G.skill sends a working kit. Which they have failed to do so far.

The original 64GB DDR RAM kit worked fine from 2024 until the first month of using his 14900K.

It's far less likely to have both his original and replacement 64GB DDR4 kits to go bad compared to his 14900K causing issues.

>The original 64GB DDR RAM kit worked fine from 2024 until the first month of using his 14900K.
There's a lot more to it than that. I had a 13700kf which died late June (Raptor Lake nonsense). The CPU and RAM went bad at pretty much the same time. I RMA'd the CPU, got a 13700k back, bought the 14900 in the meantime. Replaced the mobo and PSU. Since my CPU started acting up, across three CPUs, two mobos, two PSUs and three RAM kits I've had issues every time I used a 64gb kit and no issues every time I used my 16gb kit from 2018.
>>
>>109666674
This is scalping. They did the same shit with RTX 3000 & 6000. 6800xt msrp was $650 and Scamegg was selling directly for $1200.

>The CPU and RAM went bad at pretty much the same time
The probability of both CPU & memory going bad is pretty low.
>Since my CPU started acting up, across three CPUs, two mobos, two PSUs and three RAM kits I've had issues every time I used a 64gb kit
You should probably quit building PCs given your bad luck or whatever you're messing up in the process.
Raptor Lake CPUs memory stability is also sensitive to CPU mounting pressure & ILM contact.

Two weeks wages at minimum wage is enough to buy a 5080, which will last you like 3-4 years at the very minimum.
You'll spend more on a gym membership for 4 years than that. Hell, if you buy a console, you'll probably spend more on just games during 4 years.

That sounds pretty encouraging. Do you feel you have to change your seating arrangement or monitor distance much to keep your visuals 'clean'? My current 2160p display has a (matte?) IPS panel@144Hz, so I definitely have room to improve just from a panel technology point, but it'd be awesome to hit higher Hz values and have more room for performance in general. The latest 360Hz ultrawide OLEDs look fucking nice.
>GPUs are good enough at scaling and sharpness now that 1440p looks like 4k.
Would you clarify what you mean by this? I have a fairly modern rig, but I don't really understand how you can compete with 2160p on a 1440p panel from a PPI perspective. Are you referring to upscaling/downscaling of some kind?

In BIOS 43°C, In idle on windows t's 45° - 55° (system temp is 33°c).

MSI Afterburner

Afterburner's Curve Editor hotkeys explained by the developer, CTRL+T is useful when undervolting.
https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/msi-afterburner-v4-6-7-beta-1-is-approaching.458132/post-6435267

Relatively easy to follow guide
https://github.com/LunarPSD/NvidiaOverclocking/blob/main/Nvidia%20Overclocking.md
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPpW9yXHvOU

Get Afterburner, run it, open the Curve Editor,
use the Core (MHz) Curve slider to give it a +120 MHz OC (this is usually stable, higher offsets will need testing),
select a voltage limit point (800~900mV is performance/efficiency sweet spot for that chip),
click on the desired voltage limit point of the curve (ex. 800mV), hit CTRL + T, hit apply on the app's home screen,
Save that custom curve setting in one of the five available slots.

You can also set this profile to automatically apply on Windows startup (find the icon).
If you really want to downclock the card, move the Core curve slider towards the left.

Watch Monitor Unboxed review of the LG 5K miniLED.
His test system ran Cyberpunk on 4K DLSS Quality at around 130 FPS.
5K DLSS Quality tanks it down to 80 FPS, DLSS Performance 5K results in around 100 FPS.
He advised owners to play most 3D games using the 1440p dual mode.

Its somewhat conflicting to see dlss5 in CD since you have immense visual instability from their existing graphical approaches, RT with too little rays, time of day and pop in that its like adding an expensive lipstick on a pig.

Its really not when you realize how they mod is working. they hook the input directly from the game to the dlss and force it, depending on the table values (if they are generic UOB, conrotint8 or SRG for the linear HDR or tone map. The "official" has no support for other modes than DLAA and defaults to either DLSS 5 or RR even though RR is wasting resources because the pipeline is not separated

Current quantum dots work by absorbing wide range of light and glowing in a very narrow band, meaning very precise colors. Which was already useful to enhance current display technologies by simply dropping QD layer somewhere in between.
But making quantum dots glow in absence of any other visible light source can theoretically lead to display panels that are easier to manufacture than MicroLEDs and with way better burn-in time than OLED (yes quantum dots degrade too)

good thing since a qdoled tv costs less than a qdoled monitor

That is a much longer 4 year one. Kind of more expensive but worth it in the long run I think.

If the 5060 Ti is good enough to play native 60 fps 1440p while the 5090 and isn’t good enough to play native 60 fps 4k then what’s the point of going above 5060 Ti

LG 4K IPS gaming monitors are known to have QC issues like that.
You are shit out of luck if the warranty is over.
Double check the warranty status.

even good VA or IPS cost several times that

The monitor in >>109671379 had a launch price of 700 bucks though two years ago.
A good OLED was around 900 bucks at the same time (two years ago).

novidio is using it to skimp on vram. they can sell 12gb cards when the render resolution is below 1080p.

up-scaling and frame gen uses extra vram tho

>1,152 zones with well-optimized algorithm

>TCL 27C2A
>QD Fast-IPS Mini-LED (CSOT HFS)

The latter should clearly by superior by default through the presence of Quantum Dots and yet it winds up falling short of the AOC in one of these reviewes because Mini LED monitors seem to be a lottery of software algorithms and firmware updates,

The TCL is slightly cheaper and on paper looks like it should be superior in every way due to having slightly more dimming zones and quantum dots and yet in every review I've seen so far the local dimming algorithm and factory calibration SUCKS compared to the AOC
And yet somehow I still think I can fix it by manual calibration or through a software update (which likely will never come because lol chinkshit firmware updates)

Anyone have any experience getting a GPU to work on chipset PCIe slots? 3090+V100 or P40 on the main slots works fine, but neither card is detected by nvidia-smi when it's installed on the 3rd slot. Z790 chipset.

In the early to mid-2010s, manufacturers targeted professionals exclusively due to high manufacturing costs, low panel yields, and severe burn-in risks from static computer elements. Sony led this space with their Trimaster EL lineup, including massive production-industry staples like the Sony BVM-X300 (a 30-inch 4K OLED master reference monitor released in 2015). These monitors were far beyond consumer reach, often costing between $30,000 and $40,000. They were viewed as business investments for Hollywood post-production houses rather than PC peripherals.

OLEDs exist in consumer space since early 2000-s, it's not a new tech by any means, yet it still suffers exactly the same issues as it did back then. As technology progressed, companies tried to bridge the gap, but early attempts were still treated as hyper-premium professional creator tools rather than everyday PC monitors. For example, Dell announced the Alienware AW3017H (a 30-inch 4K 120Hz consumer OLED) in 2016, but it was quickly canceled due to panel quality and burn-in concerns.

IPS remains the preferred choice for most professional office and color-critical work, though OLED is increasingly used for specific HDR video grading and hybrid setups due to cost-efficiency, no burn in, text clarity, and consistent brightness. High-end OLED reference panels exist, but standard broadcast and photo-proofing setups still lean on IPS reference displays for long-term color predictability.
