I don't use my phone anywhere near enough to justify fucking with it.
>>109667185I main GNU/Linux and Lineage daily, yes. I also manage 100+ Windows workstations, so I guess you could say that I daily drive Windows too.
>>109667185I've been using Ubuntu and GrapheneOS for many years. I use CoMaps instead of Google Maps.
>>109667208>>109667867based
>>109667185it would be retarded not to fault drive those
I unintentionally ended up getting a google pixel, I needed a phone that day because I was leaving the state for work and it was the cheapest phone they had at the store, and I was thinking about trying grapheneOS, not because I'm overly concerned about privacy but more because I don't like the phone ever doing anything I didn't tell it to, would it be worth it or is it not the right fit really. I sign into youtube, the only thing I realistically care about is never seeing ads
>>109668767>I sign into youtube
>>109667185GOS for me. Nicer than lineage, IMO.
>>109667185GOS/LOS really shouldn't be grouped with Linux. They are still android and using them will be 99% the same as stock android. >>109668767Yes it is still worth it for being able to granularly deny permissions and internet.
>>109668785any advertising data collected on me could probably be considered negative load, and I never see ads anyway
Desktop:ArchLaptop:ArchrPi:Arch (alarm)Handheld:CachyOS (testan)Server:Arch (inertia, not because it's the best, should be using debian or someshit)Phone:whatever the fsck the vendvendor put on it (galaxy) I wish slimROMs/cyanogenmod still was a thing... might even switch to iOS at this point, increasingly don't like Google, and don't use my phone much anymore
>>109667185Nobody with a job (and therefore money and therefore a bank account) uses this.
>>109669481>Nobody with a job (and therefore money and therefore a bank account) uses this.i have 7.42$ in my bank account and use lineage, checkmate.
>>109667185I still into Linux and self-hosting everything. I used to include Graphene OS, till the Fold 8 Ultra came out... Now I'm Linux + Self-hosted+ Android.Yeah, I'm giving up my telemetry but at this point in my life, IDGAF anymore. I'm not going to deny myself the pleasure using this beast of a device for "muh privacy." Especially with flock cams everywhere, FISA, Patriot Act, Age Verification... Browser fingerprinting... On and on and so on and so on.
>>109670993Can I donate?
>>109671051My routing number is 1234 plz send 10 quintillion dollars
>>109669176>he doesn't know
>>109671067I only have 2.15 dollar
>>109667185I use gnu/linux and lineage, yes
>>109668767you can use graphene just like regular android, install google services and google play and other shit on it just fine if you want to do that. it just gives you the option not to, which is nice.the one big thing it can't do that's a dealbreaker for a lot of people is nfc payments. (((they))) refuse to whitelist anything other than official google roms to do that.
>>109667185Yup, I use LineageOS and Fedora Linux.
>>109668767As the other anon mentioned, you can use the sandboxed google play services for apps or services you may needbut you can explore youtube alternatives such as Newpipe and its forks or spinoffs, Invidious instance of your choice via the browser...etc without the need to login into an account, allows local subscriptions but if signing works for you and you don't mind then thats finetheir documentation page is really extensive but probably can answer many questions you may have about GOS, what it does, and allows you to do
I run Lineageos on my phones and tablat for 9 years. Works very well.
>>109669475relatable, sometimes I feel like we have to accept the phone spyware in the modern world, it sucks.>>109671145>>109673464>>109674438based, but what exactly motivated you to run a custom, more privacy friendly android rom? Was it an experiment? old phone stopped receiving (security)updates? or a privacy choice? And will this affect your future phone choice? The Linux part is probably privacy motivated and because Windows gets worse every fucking day.
>lineageos on tablet>grapheneos on phone>linux on laptops/desktopsI hate what I've become almost as much as I hate my need to become it.
>>109667185> gnu/linuxyes, since 2014> lineageosyes, since 2017 (used to have cyanogenmod since 2012 before that)> grapheneosi have no google hardware
>>109669475>cyanogenmodcyanogen is lineage
>>109675133>based, but what exactly motivated you to run a custommy phone is old and MIUI was just too slow, after installing lineage it was fast as new>And will this affect your future phone choice?yes, initially I wanted to get the poco f8 pro, but probably not gonna anymore.windows is ass cancer as a software developer.
Debian, Void Linux, GrapheneOS and LineageOS on second phone.
