I’m lead developer on a 40 year old kernel. AI is laughably bad and completely unusable for what we do. I even combined the headers with in line documentation into a single file for reference for a skill to help write code and it sucks bad. Hallucinates all the time. Half of the functions have heavily abbreviated names and single character variable names because it was written back when size on disk mattered. But even the newer stuff it cannot do write and constantly makes up functions that don’t exist even when I prompt it to not make up functions that don’t exist.
