Thanks, but I'll stick with Mastodon.
Honestly what's even the point of Bsky? Mastodon is already filled with woke lefty types. Xitter is just astroturfed right wing instead of astroturfed left wing now. There was never any real threat.

I've been using Bluesky (on and off) since the start. There's nothing different besides the userbase consisting primarily of sensitive bozos. Other than that, a lot of us use it just as a quieter place. I sometimes post my art there. Compression is shit though. Like it's REALLY REALLY bad. I wouldn't consider it a Twitter replacement in any capacity. The shit you see on Twitter is so unique.
>>109667501best post. masto/pixelfed/misskey/pleroma are actually censorship-resistant and self-hostable. bluesky is still a centralized platform run by pozzed corporate stooges. anyone not on fedi who claims to care about freedom is larping
>>109667565>anyone not on fedi who claims to care about freedom is larpingThe problem with those who explicitly do so are annoying faggots who post about their love of lolisho 24/7. Not that I have anything against it. It's just... Why do they all talk about porn so much?
>>109667320>your favorite content creatorsI heckin' love consuming content, engaging with brands and following influencers!
>>109667577frankly i haven't run into the loli crowd much. on fedi, you only see posts from people you follow, so i mostly see tech news and book reviews, plus updates from friends. though obviously ymmv since different frontends organize the timeline differently, and the "trending" tab will be different for each server.nice dubs btw
>>109667320Twitter is older and has a more established base. Creators aren't going to use it if it's not pulling in numbers the same way their Xitter account does. Only people unironcally using it are they/them pronoun faggots because the place is a literal hugbox.

>>109667577I thought Mastodon decoupled from Pawoo over loli? Pawoo's no longer Japanese-owned after getting sold off a couple of times though. Wish Pixiv had held onto it.

Bluesky is a dead end because it's too centralized and expensive to run, they're currently burning VC cash with zero route to monetize without pissing off the audience they've cultivated.Mastodon will stick around forever because anyone can run an instance on a raspberry pi or $5 VPS or whatever. But without an algorithm it will never be adopted by the normies who are just looking to be spoonfed memes and the Current Thing to be for/against. If you don't want to see trannies, just flag every tranny account you see and after you do it 5 times, the algorithm will pick it up and you will never get a tranny recommended to you ever again.Lastly, Mastodon is all just political screeching and reddit memes. Doesn't it use some decentralised protocol or something?>https://atproto.comHow hard would it be to spin up your own instance?Even if the main instance skews very woke, having an actually decentralised xitter replacement seems like a good idea.
>>109683413its extremely hard to completely disconnect from the main instance. The architecture is a hairy ball and only blacksky has managed to be the most decentralized one but it costs them thousands in server costs because it needs to replicate the entire network and then they had claude do everything else because bluesky's appview is not open source.Even then, they still depended on bluesky's moderation server bs and accounts banned from bluesky couldn't join blacksky for a while. Just an awful centralized network pretending to be decentralized. But if you manage to make a non woke instance, they will have a lot of trouble banning it because the network is so shit.

>>109684540How so?From what I gather, the only centralised part of the protocol is the registry identifier ( at://did:plc:<hash> ), since it requires you to use the registry that Bluesky setup. However you can use your own identifier: ( at://did:web:yourdomain.com ) instead.(Unless I'm misunderstanding) moderation works by applying labels to users (their did) & posts that users can subscribe to, but if you use an app like Bluesky you're forced to use those labels, but if you were to use a third-party (or self hosted) app, you wouldn't be required to use Bluesky's "moderation".And since pretty much every post is a .json file, i don't see why it would be that difficult to set up your own 'app' to browse posts, sort of like an RSS reader.Again I might be missing something obvious, but it seems most people are just focused on the woke Bluesky app instead of the underlying protocol.
>>109684720How many of those followers are real people though? I created an account, but I've never posted or liked anything, and still I have almost 100 followers for some reason. A lot of them seem to be onlyfans bots or gaza grifters.

I use Mastodon, its actually interesting over there.Never found anything useful on Bluesky. But maybe for the normies its better I dunno.
>>109667565Reposting from that other thread yesterday that got deleted:Can't the head janny of the Mastodon instance just block access to other instances whenever he gets his manties in a bunch? Mastodon isn't perfect. Also every instance I've ever seen is completely dead in comparison to any of the centralized options.
>>109667320No, it's ass.
>>109689762>Can't the head janny of the Mastodon instance just block access to other instances whenever he gets his manties in a bunch?Just like you can block India from accessing your blog
>>109667320Nooo, let the Twitterfags stay on their fucking shithole. Don't want them invading my safespace
>>109667320Why would I use a shittier clone of twitter?
>>109668042Because mastodon and other activitypub instances fucking suck on both the clients end and the admins end. ATproto is newer and so has a tiny ecosystem but it’s designed to scale a lot better and address a lot of the pain points of activitypub
