Every Government and Corporation wants its own AI.

Why are they still available for common people to buy?

>They are extremely expensive

Yes, but we can still buy them.

If AI is as important as people say it is, GPUs and RAM should be out of stock.
>>
they're not that expensive unless you're from the third world
>>
>>109673477
I'm from the third world.
>>
>>109673447
There's plenty to go around for both, but OEMs used the current data center situation as an excuse to ramp up prices. They're never going back to "normal."
>>
>>109673477
Even comparatively to two years ago, you are completely incorrect. When did you start whoring yourself for attention like a thai rent boy? Please respond!
>>
>>109673477
>they're not that expensive unless you're from the third world

They should be, as everyone wants them now.

Why aren't them even more expensive or downright unavailable?

The problem is, even 5090s are still available to buy.

They shouldn't be.

FTGE
>>
>>109673569
you cant chain 50 5090s and have them work properly as good as things made to do so, corpos need hbm, corpos need assurance the gpus are to exact spec, corpos need assurance they have warranty, corpos need more power efficient gpus, corpos need gpus that can just fit into the server rack without needing to swap 50 gpu fans for a blower type first etc

you're saying this shit is unaffordable? it's not even a month worth of rent and its not like you can't resell to get most of the money back anyways. its not that expensive compared to what it can do.
>>
>>109673447
Nobody is buying what's already in the retail channel at the current nonsense prices. That's why every quarter they tell you the prices are only going up next year, quarter, etc... that shit is taking up shelf/storage space for things that would actually sell and make them some money. They've been trying desperately to unload all that crap at 500% markup for the past 10 months.
>>
>>109673616
No, I'm saying it's stupidly expensive compared to prices a year and a half ago, and it's a 5070. Are you kind of slow?
>>
>>109673447
Binning. Nobody but consumer cucks buy broken silicon, nobody wants that in an AI datacenter.
>>
>>109673726
this
they can unload the shit bins for still some profit to retards
>>
>>109673581
The 3060ti I have sitting in a box is worth over $400????
>>
>>109673447
First of all, they don't buy babby-tier RGB shit with 16GB or less VRAM/. Secondly, government and most corporations are full of techno-illiterates, and prefer to purchase cloud services, not run shit themselves.
Any other stupid questions?
>>
>>109673447
Wait a few more years for the stage to be fully dismantled.
>>
>>109673447
Because the processes aren't perfect and selling the leftovers is profitable enough
>>
because AI's like using HBM more (mainly power efficiency), and we are still making gddr6 memory.
we ran out of HBM and now they are buying up the GPU's that use gddr memory normally used for gaming.
also every single GPU is assembled in a east asian country, only trump has the balls to actually blockade AI gpu's from being exported to other countries if he could.
Also the 8-16gb gpu's are effectively worthless for AI, so the common people can take them.
>>
>>109674082
>only trump has the balls to actually blockade AI gpu's from being exported to other countries if he could.
Techincally yes, raising the US import tariffs for GPUs is on the table.
>>
>>109673447
You don't need a lot of compute to run a model, you only need a lot to train one. And nobody outside a few companies in US and China is actually doing that at scale. Also you can't stockpile GPUs for future needs because they'll grow obsolete in half a decade
>>
>>109673447
>How are GPUs and RAMs still available for us?
Because the DIY market is tiny, niche and completely detached from the billions of orders B2B corporations are doing, you're also paying a much higher premium than say Apple when buying them currently
>>
>>109673447
>Why are they still available for common people to buy?
Do you not understand how capitalism works? Clearly not.
>>
>>109673447
>GPUs
Whales are only people buying them, etailers are milking the market for its worth. It is Crypto madness all over again
>Memory
Actually it is hard to find specific SKUs even for shitty UDIMMs. RIMMs, LRDIMM are backlogged to hell. It is making hardware procurement a big problem for non-ML markets.
>>
>>109675515
>retailers are milking the market for its worth
imagine how much a 5090 is going to cost when china invades taiwan.
$5000 is cheap
But when you get drafted that's not going to matter much...
>inb4 he thinks he can skip the draft / cross the border into a country that isn't going to be turned into the 51 and 52nd state / live off the land and avoid going to be abducted by a van out in public when fighting a war against 1.4 billion.
>>
>>109673581
Under 12GB of VRAM this stuff doesn't really matter, you might as well just use your CPU.
>>
>>109675515
>Actually it is hard to find specific SKUs even for shitty UDIMMs. RIMMs, LRDIMM are backlogged to hell. It is making hardware procurement a big problem for non-ML markets.
I work at a company that makes industrial equipment. We had to scrub an entire product launch because we can't get *any* SBCs in the form factor we designed around, even from weird Chinese places.

Everything was ready to go, the software, the hardware. It had been in development for years.
>>
>>109673447
>If AI is as important as people say it is, GPUs and RAM should be out of stock.
Now you're starting to get it. It's all fake and gay. They're artificially restricting supply using the boomer AI fever epidemic as the pretense. However, it's browncoded behavior and when this is over they'll lose all their izzat.
>>
>>109673477
The US is a third world country, as is Canada. There are no first world countries anymore. Boomers made sure of this, as did their social engineering slavemasters.
>>
>>109674226
>. And nobody outside a few companies in US and China is actually doing that at scale

Ok, but even small companies want their offline models running, and they could buy these consumer grade GPUs.

No?
>>
>>109673447
Low end gpus like 5070 are economically worthless, hence the price being MSRP-ish even today. They’re also barely being produced nowadays - you might want to buy one when there’s still reasonable stock if you expect to need a gpu before 2028 or so.
Ram is needed by every computer on the planet so you can’t just turn off the faucet or the whole economy will hiccup - but you can raise prices so 16gb costs as much as 96gb in the past. Poors don’t use computers for anything useful after all, otherwise they wouldn’t be poor.
>>
>>109673477
I checked price on 5090 this week, it's like all +5000€ here.. I find this a lot, I would hate to think what someone from a 3rd world country think of it.
>>
>>109673447
Increased demand means increased prices, but the demand is not infinite, so unless there's some behind the scenes arrangement they should still be available to everyone willing to pay the higher prices.
>>
>anon has his first encounter with market forces
>>
>>109678696
This is the absolute top of the line consoomer gpu you can get, is this surprising the price is high for a halo product?
You can buy seven 5070 for the price of 5090 and still get 1440p120
>>
>>109673447
You can’t run ai sloppa on a dinky rtx 5070 and 2x 8gb ddr4 ram
>>
>>109678551
No, 99% of people in positions of power at companies are tech illiterate for the most part, and even if not completely illiterate they would never consider running local models for their business when they can just 'Buy Claude subscription'

the ram and gpu you posted in your picture go with motherboards not generally used in the computers which some might call servers the companies you speak of usually buy

>imagine how much a 5090 is going to cost when china invades taiwan.
But Elon is building the biggest chip manufacturing factory in the world and getting help from Nvidia so we'll get cheap US made chips in 4-5 years.
>>
>>109673477
>they're not that expensive
Considering my PC that cost €1450 little over a year ago is now €2800 (same parts, best offers available)? It's pretty fucking expensive.
Can we still afford it? Yes.
Still expensive as all hell? Yes.
>>
>>109679192
>we'll get cheap US made chips
You mean "the AI companies are getting cheap US made chips". Because don't for a second think they will find kindness in their hearts and flood the market with cheap chips for us normal people.

It's never going to happen. We are nothing to them. We don't even register on the radar when it comes to profit.
>>
>>109679281

They want you to buy a shitty console without disc player for $1000 and be happy about it.
Actual useful components are solely for commercial customers.

For every billion they earn selling gamer hardware, they make 100 billions on a single AI deal. And AI is expanding constantly while gamers upgrade (maybe) once per generation. In fact, most gamers go 3-4 years between upgrades.

We are nothing to them.
Nvidia made that very clear. The big guy himself said it.
>>
>>109678791
I am in EU and I have to pay over 1000 EUR for a 9070 XT too.
>>
>>109673616
5070Ti is for nerds, they are not crazy expensive, 70 models were never expensive. Some premium 80 models were and lately 90 are absurdly priced for what they can do. And it's not because of crypto anymore.
>>
>>109673447
Because the big portion of it is just corporate greed nothing to do with supplies
There probably millions of DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 RAM around the globe
>>
>>109679560
Even my local PC shop (typical average town pc place) has row after row with RAM hanging in the store. For once it's even easy to find different colors for color matched builds. BUT the price is all retarded so basically nobody is buying except in desperation for repairs.
>>
>>109673447

>>109675925
If China annexes Taiwan, all of the fancy chips will become unobtainum for the near-future. This is what happens when you put nearly of the EUV production in one egg basket. Only DUV and older fabrication methods exist outside of Taiwan.
>>
>>109673477
They are luxury goods only good for silly media consumption. They are vastly overpriced, but that doesn't stop FOMO whales from paying up.
>>
>>109675925
retard. The entire point of the AI war and all this drone-tech is so that nobody actually has to GO to war.

It will be swarms of drones fighting each other in the sky and seizing areas with AI-led area-denial signal hacking or some shit. They'll only need piecemeal peacekeeper forces to hold territory seized post drone-war.

One day, humans might not even understand how to fight wars conventionally outside of watching movies anymore. Disturbing thought, being a fan of 40k myself.
>>
>>109678791
For a consumer gou? Yes that price is insane
>>
>>109673447
man, am i glad i upgraded like a year before this whole retardation...
>>
>>109680594
>retard. The entire point of the AI war and all this drone-tech is so that nobody actually has to GO to war.
No its not. LMAO thinking they care about that. The reason comes down to effectiveness and cost. That's it.
>>
>>109681243
yes, because it renders humans obsolete in matters of war. Its not the WHY, but its the functional, practical result and purpose of the drive.

Its the first big breakthrough in military conflicts since gps-guided missiles + bunker busters became a thing in the second iraq war. And its got far far bigger ramifications. Its only real equivalent is tanks replacing cavalry in WW1+2, or the explosion in aviation warfare in WW2.
>>
>>109681270
>and purpose of the drive.
No its not. Its efficiency and practicality of it. Not the emphatic thought of we can save lives by doing it this way.
>>
>>109678551
What the fuck kind of company does not already have a PC
>>
Let me explain. There is a convid-level amount of money printing about to take place shortly. Smart companies are using any justification they can to jack prices now to take advantage of the wave of cash that's about to hit.
