Literally everything would have been better if AI was far far far more restricted technology then it has been this decade. AI is amazing tool that years ago could have been used for summarisation and now can be used to speed up software development and even significantly help actual STEM research. But because we gave it to everyone for free most just misuse it for slop that just spams social media and makes people dumber. If we would have restricted LLM access to only universities, various research institutions and tech businesses not only would we be further along the AI research, but AI would have no negative backlash and there would be no financial bubble. Just compare the benefits of either releasing it to the public or gatekeeping it.
