>never used a mac or an apple device in my life>start working as a computer science intern in Tur(d)key>they give me a Macbook M1 pro to use>after using it realize there is nothing outstanding about these devicesSo THIS is the mythical apple devices people rave about? The only out of ordinary feature it has is that it makes 0 noise because it doesn't have a fan but I guess that's not normal since it's a work laptop and not a gaming laptop.
>>109680608>that's not normal*that's normal
If you pay close attention you will also realize that someone has taken a bite of the apple. It's not a brand new shiny Appleā¢, but an ordinary rotting compost apple like any else.
Apple is a designer brand, people use it to show that they have the resources to spend on something valuable, same reason they throw lots of money on gold chains or pricey suits and shoes etc when cheaper alternatives would serve the same purpose.
>>109680608The OS is slightly more intuitive than Windows but yeah they're just basedware
>>109680608It's marketing. Google is an advertising company.Apple is a marketing company. Google devoples services to spy on you, then sells your data to ad agencies for profit. Apple makes shitty substandard hardware that's dumbed down to the lowest IQ, then deploys masterful marketing to create a cult base following to sell that substandard slop. That's how they make their profit.
>>109680608Actually it has 2 fans. Also yes, it just works. Also m1 is 5 nm (so yes not the greatest performance it was first arm of theirs)
>>109680654>The OS is slightly more intuitive than WindowsNot OP but I had the opposite experience. Mac OS is full of the most bizarre UI choices I have ever seen, literally unlike every other computer just for the sake of being different and quirky. Pic related, I had no idea what I was supposed to do here and had to look it up, apparently you have to "install" software by pretending to drag the executable into an imaginary folder. Adding more arbitrary abstractions like this is not how you make an operating system simpler than its competitors.
>>109680668How did a highly intelligent and developed nation like Japan fall for Apple's tricks so hard?
>>109680713Japan is tech illiterate. They play games on phones and glorified tablets like switch.
>>109680713>Japan >Highly intelligent
>>109680749>They play games on phones and glorified tablets like switch.Where else are they supposed to play them? Sony console don't have games. The types of games they're interested in are already on consoles which they already own. PC-exclusive games are only beloved by autistic gaijin. Piracy and emulation are viewed as something the loud annoying brown third-worlder tourists do.
>>109680781You should like a techlet homosexual. We know for a certain you're an NPC techlet... Are you a homosexual too?
>>109680708had the exact same experience as a programmer using windows and linux for 25+ years after i was given m1
>>109680713...as can be seen by salmon in sushi or rings replacing trad wine in weddings, japs are still all easily manipulated horde animals.
>>109680781Yeah they play "games" that are glorified gambling apps with female characters of questionable age instead. So much better than us lowly gaijin amirite?
>>109680809Try that again in English, sukhdeep.
>>109680644>Apple is a designer brandM6 mini cost $899>>109680654Wrong, you never cared to optimise your workflow for it or use it at all just vague-posting for a reason.>>109680668>Apple is a marketing company.Apple is hardware and software company, unlike google.>>109680708>bizarre UI choicesGnome copied entire macOS desktop ui/ux workflow and made it like 1000x worse, just so you know. You never used it again, just more cope.>>109680713Now let's post Indian/Pakistan/Bangladesh devices are those people intelligent according to your logic LOL?
>>109680842You sound like a flaming moron.
>>109680837>Yeah they play "games" that are glorified gambling apps with female characters of questionable age instead. Those are popular worldwide, we have a board on this site that is full of threads about them
>>109680842Ohhhh a paid marketing shill. I always wondered, do you get paid by the post or by the hour? How do you prove how many posts you make per hour? How did you get hired or even find the job?
>start working as a computer science intern in Tur(d)keygrim
>>109680939Why?
>>109680842>Gnome copied entire macOS desktop ui/ux workflowIs that why Gnome is so bad? First thing I do whenever I'm forced to use it is spend 45 minutes changing all of the settings and keybinds and disabling all the weird behaviors.
>>109680608Here's a few I have observed, I use linux at work, windows at home, but I have a fagbook pro because they just are the best laptop.>No weird retarded charging errors where the battery is dead without explanation>My airpods sync perfectly, not well, but perfectly>My airpods switch intelligently and perfectly between my phone and my laptop>Wirelessly transferring anything between Apple devices just works without errors>No weird retarded AI slop code errors like you get with Windows>No retarded FOSS bullshit with programs because none of it is made with some pentium 2 tier hardware in mind>It just worksIt's nothing special per se, but it just has less of those stupid problems that should not be problems. I don't fully agree with the UI always but it is at least consistent and doesn't tend to break with some random update.
>>109680984>>My airpods sync perfectly, not well, but perfectly>>My airpods switch intelligently and perfectly between my phone and my laptop>>Wirelessly transferring anything between Apple devices just works without errorsThese are all because Apple deliberately chooses not to support other platforms.>No weird retarded AI slop code errors like you get with WindowsWhen I brought my laptop from work to home I tried connecting to my home network but I couldn't and it gave me a generic error message. After a few minutes I realized I typed my password wrong after clicking show password button. It literally could have told me I was typing the wrong password like on Linux or Windows but it didn't.
>>109680973No gnome is so bad, because it's linux frankenstein tranny freakazoid version of the real thing.Gnome 3.0 is when they tried to steal UI/UX from OSX, and created Poopshit Diikshit version of it.
>>109681043>They tried to copy a turd and made diarrhea insteadInteresting anon, tell me more
My main PC is linux, work laptop uses windows, and I have a mac mini m4 for shits and giggles.I find that macOS cannot be a replacement for me not just for obvious shit (like gaymen) but also because it does get in the way of anything a bit non standard like I don't know, fucking using a different browser than safari, a monitor that's not 5k and fractional scaling, my mouse needing a third party tool to scroll a bit more normally, shit like that.I like the OS itself, I actually love shit like automator, I don't have such a problem with some of the programs and I find that at least for editing on adobeshit it's actually faster than on windows (and of course it takes a big stinky shit on linux there) but then it's not all that snappy as I was told and I don't feel like it operates much faster than a windows 11 install on a good day. Hell even the search isn't that instant. It really, really fucking specific about what it's good at, and that's why I refuse to use it as a main machine. It's sad that in the year of our lord 2026 linux seems more "compatible" with all sorts of software and hardware. I feel like macOS is something that would have potential if they decided to let it free, but for now it's just a "do this one thing excellent and the rest very poorly" kinda system. Also it's dogshit for AI, I guess if I spent thousands of dollars on a mac studio I would probably get a better deal for local models but as it stands the base model is not as good as my fucking GPU on my main machine (then again the mac mini cost about the same as my GPU). Maybe I'd use it more if it wasn't a slow process for my current monitor to switch inputs.
>>109680708>I had no idea what I was supposed to do here and had to look it upHow unbelievably retarded of you>apparently you have to "install" software by pretending to drag the executable into an imaginary folder1. that's not an "executable". Apps are really just directories with a binary and related data inside2. that's not an "imaginary folder" it's a link to your applications directory3. you're not "pretending" to drag it in. You're moving the chrome App into your applications directoryWhat is it about Apple that makes Microsoft midwitts seethe so much?
>>109681062More cope 99% of indians, pakistanis, bangladeshis uses windows/linux.Stop being rude to your own kind...
>>109681081>Apps are really just directories with a binary and related data insideIf it's a directory, then why does it behave like a special kind of file, instead of opening up in the file explorer normally when you inspect it in the UI? There is no way you can frame this that makes it defensible kek
>>109680713There wasn't another option other than apple for smartphones until Google Pixel. You really think Japs will buy Samsung? They had domestic brands like Sharp/Sony but they were too late. With Pixel though Apple's domination is slowly decreasing.
>>109680654It's the exact opposite. Windows, as shit as it is, just make sense. MacOS is completely incomprehensible to anyone who isn't a cock-guzzling faggot, or worse, a c*lifornian.
>>109680708Wait you actually have to go through the humiliation ritual of dragging a UI element into another UI element, neither of which have any inherent connection to what's actually happening under the hood? Why do you need to do that when clicking the installer already means you want to install it? Or why not just have a confirm button?
>>109680608How long have you used it?Do you even know how to take a screenshot?
>>109681315command + shift + 4. I dont know why it has such a retarded keybind for a screenshot but It isn't that big of a deal.
>>109681262>linux/microsoft indians are now seething about GUIlol?
>>109681262It's not an installer. dmg is a disk image format. It's like a virtual drive you can store things in.An installer on the other hand is a program that opaquely spews garbage across your filesystem
>>109681376>It's not an installer. dmg is a disk image formatSure. But you still have to perform some action that says "I want to install this" to get to that view. Why male the user perform this humiliation ritual instead of just installing it?
>>109681716For transparency. This way you know exactly what is happening. The whole paradigm of installers only makes sense when installation is complicated. Just put the app in the folder man.
>>109680608The thing about macbooks is build quality and apple's new fancy processors that btfo everything else inside mobile computers market AND out.macos looks fancy. it looks fancy. that's it. I'd rather have Windows 11 ARM64
>>109681941>For transparency. This way you know exactly what is happening. What transparency? A popup telling the user "software X has been installed in location Y" achieves the same thing without the unintuitive drag and drop bullshit.>Just put the app in the folder man.Exactly. Don't make me do this bullshit.
>>109680713Meanwhile you buy any Android outside Japan it won't support their transit card system despite have the hardware to do so.Buy an iphone? no problem Apple pays the license fee for all phones that use the system.
>>109680608>So THIS is the mythical apple devices people rave about?it's only good because most other manufacturers are shit and good build laptops will be as overpriced as applel products. also if you compare it with linux (since who tf would use windows to develop stuff) their DE experience is better than whatever gnome and KDE provide (tho still shitty to some degree) so you have to worry less about gnome or your wifi driver shitting itself and can just do whatever you want. if you don't need a laptop those things are useless and i wouldn't but a mac mini
>>109680608I can run cyberpunk 2077 in ultra mode 1440p on my m2 max while camping with a cheap solar setup.
>>109682201The popup could be misleading or omit details, or lie. Worst of all it creates the impression that installing an app is some magical process that requires special software. How could you think that running an installer program is more intuitive than literally just dragging an application into your applications folder?
>>109680708Yes it is full of shite and stupid design decisions. Another one is having the menu bar detached from the window. Making it hard to see where you will do your actions.
>>109682331>dragging an application into your applications folder?why would you do that when you can run `brew install --cask <app>`?
