Xbox hardware was quite advanced for its release date (2001). Many PCs at the time still had 100MHz FSB but the Xbox ran at 133MHz. The Xbox also had DDR RAM, not much of it (64MB), but DDR wouldn't be commonplace until the Pentium 4 and Athlon XP platforms a couple years later. Most PCs were still running regular single-channel SDRAM.

I picked up 2 of these brand new when they were selling them off for something like $30 each.
Soft modded and stuck in a huge hdd. Ran xbmc with all my movies on it (a bit like plex or jellyfin), retroarch and emulators for Nintendo and Sega games, and around 50 xbox games on the hard drive.
Used it daily up until I got myself a dedicated nas.
Still have them stored away. I heard you need to check and replace the capacitors as they are known to crap out over time
