Being able to problem solve is an innate skill you either can do it or not.100% this, most people aren't fit to solve problems in general, it's not a mindset, it's from deep within and there is NOTHING they can do to faking having it, atleast for a long period.Sadly the barrier to become a swe is so low that they recruit anyone who can type on a keyboard, I've seen my fair share of people staring at their monitor doing nothing because a bug happened in one of the tool they use and they're just helpless, you can't even guide them, you have to fix the issue for them and they'll never remember what you did.It's unsettling the first few times but you usually learn fast that most people around you aren't bright and need a mommy to operate in life. I've done my fair share of parenting for people with double my age and double my salary, the workplace is unfair, most of these morons should be fired and replaced by 19yo autists who dream in code since they're 8yo but it's not happening...This applies to any engineering field btw, I used to feel bad for factory workers but not anymore, most people usually converge towards their place in society, it's usually fast for people who dropped out of highschool, did not go to uni and refused to learn a trade, you should not feel bad for people unfit to do anything but grunt work, it's where they belong in the first place.

Some might intuit that one could make an array of arrays for a 2d data structure, a shockingly high number of people would need to be told this explicitly even if they had a problem which implied this solution. Now we have a 2d array, we know a for loop, some will automatically recognize that we can put one inside another to make a nested loop to access those values. Like a monkey you could teach him by rote to type a certain word, maybe even another word and another and eventually he gets a sentence. But he couldn't then write an original sentence because he doesn't understand language, he doesn't fundamentally understand what he is doing he's just going from memory. This is the level most people operate at, but they're a few steps further along than the monkey. The issue isn't that they haven't learned to think for themselves, but that their brains can not perform that layer of processing.
