I can't read books because I lose interest after the first couple of chapters. How do programmers do it? There’s noway you read a 1000 page book on CMake and remember it all…
>>109689050I just skim themA lot of those books are textbooks or reference books that you’re not intended to read straight front to back like a novel. The only book that I’ve ever read front to back entirely like that is DDIA by kleppmann, but that book is pure gold
>>109689050Imagine how much literature you're missing out on by reading textbooks outside of college like a complete sperg and memorizing algorithms that AI already knows about
Environmental control You don’t try to read somewhere you have 10000 dopamine steroid boosters in your immediate vicinity Imagine being locked in a room with nothing but a bed and a light you’d probably finish the book in no time Extreme example, but the point remains
>Read up until you reach a point where there's a practical application>Try to implement what you've learned so far in said practical application>Consult the previous section(s) whenever stuck, but only after you've slammed your head against the wall a sufficient number of times trying to remember >???>ProfitJust dive into the deep end.
>>109689050I like using pomodoro to keep my sanity in check. Also I don't read something about CMake since anons said it sucks
>>109689226Real men don't care about made up stories.
>>109689226> Imagine learningYeah, I like to learn things
>>109689050Read the thin books. If the book is fat there's a good chance that the author didn't have a good enough understanding to digest it down.
Simple. Its both reference and explanation. Read the book from cover to cover outloud and not in your head only the explanatory content. At the least your mind indexes where you read something so in the future you can quickly seek it out for detail. You dont have to absorb it all just know the range of content available.
>>109689050I don't read books. I ask AI to summarize for me or use Wikipedia, Cliff Notes, Reddit etc
