How to install icecat without shitting up my filesystem with whatever it needs to compile? Do I use a container?
>>
>>109693099
Why not add yokoffing's betterfox to the user.js list?
It's not super hardened but it's a good project.
>>
>>109693182
Will do for next one unless another anon beats me to it. He's smart and trustworthy.

I wish you the best of luck my friend. Compiling a large, modern web browser is quite resource intensive. I would just use a binary from a source you wholeheartedly trust, or go with another fork. Librewolf is very good if you want to be in sync with standard FF releases, and Waterfox is good if you prefer being on ESR. Abrowser is also a nice option, depending on your OS / distro.

guix install icecat

waterfox's last update broke twitter push notifications for me. tried it on my laptop and it works there. should i just reinstall it?
>>
>>109693099
Librewolf ~Awooooooo~ is the best browser

Why are u still using that shit?
>>
>>109694877
>push notifications
why would anyone want notifications in a web browser?
>from twitter
wtf is wrong with you?
i bet you use facebook too.

check about:config for:
>dom.push.enabled
>dom.push.connection.enabled
but i highly suggest taking your medication or touching grass instead.

One thing I like to do when reinstalling is to enable compact mode. You should look up a video on how to do that if you want to, it requires an additional step after changing the about:config setting. Unless they changed it since I last reinstalled. What it does basically is that it makes everything a bit more compact, but not unpleasantly so. I find it especially useful when browsing large bookmark folders, but the extra vertical space is nice as well.

I dont want the 935285th Firefox clone with a different theme and logo. I want a Rust-free vibecode-free browser capable of browsing the modern web. Is that really too much to ask for?
>>
>>109697027
If you're complaining about AI use in the software world while using any major commercial OS, then your stance is retarded. That being said, I highly doubt FF has vibecoded elements, but if you're gonna freak out about rust, then Seamonkey and Malepoon are what you want.
>>
>>109697076
I said vibecode specifically. Careful surgival AI use by an experienced developer isn't automatically bad.

Seamonkey and Palemoon are not capable of rendering the modern web.
>>
>>109697120
You should be A-OK with Librewolf, Icecat, or Waterfox.
>>
>>109693381
Yup, this is the way, but you are asking for too much. /g/ can barely open .exe files. Ever wondered why IceCat spam threads stopped when that guy sharing precomp binaries died from cancer (RIP)?

4chan killed the ability to view its catalog without js years ago newfren what did you expect
you wont be able to search on google either or browse reddit
>>
>>109698625
Disable the silly GNU JS extensions it ships with and you're good to go.
