Would you daily an ARM PC? I think the novelty of it would be pretty cool, shitposting on a small brick.

Of course, it would be soulless as fuck, but all your fans and lights are bloat anyway.
>>
No, probably not.
To much work getting the programs I use daily to work on them, especially for work.
>>
>>109694961
Does it have ACPI and UEFI ?
Is it locked down?

If I don't need to bake its hardware configuration into a kernel (device tree) to use it then it's a contender.
>>
>>109694961
The CPUs included in these fucktard boxes are slower than Intel equivalents.
>>
Why? It doesn't do anything different except run less software and have less hardware support.

Even the arm laptops failed because of lunar lake efficiency chips lasting substantially more than a typical work day
>>
i don't need an x86 computer and neither do you
>>
Anything other than x86 is a meme.
>>
>>109695105
The fuck are you going on about? The M6 Ultra is the fastest chip on the planet right now, it's way faster than the Xeon or Threadripper chips.
>>
>>109694961
Mac mini were cool when they were $500
Now? Get fucked
>arm on winblows
lol
>>
>>109695276
but it its slower than Intel i3s from a decade ago when compiling renpy porn games with gigabytes of spaghetti code written in Java
>>
>>109694961
i suppose i would
>>
>>109694961
The problem is that all the arm stuff has shitty locked/non-standardised bootloaders and shit Linux support even if you can get Linux onto it at all. Windows is worthless trash and i can't tolerate it for a second so that rules out most arm stuff for me. Also i don't really feel comfortable giving money to a company that sells laptops with soldered ssds and glued batteries so that also rules out the rest of the arm stuff too.

>arm pc
Oxymoron.
>>
They're still expensive for what are smartphones with no screens.
>>
>>109695276
No it is not stop lying you filthy nigger.
It can't beat cinebench in multicore so it fails bigly
>>
>I think the novelty of it would be pretty cool
What novelty? There is no difference for you besides slightly worse software compatiblity and more locked down hardware.

Mi have an M2 Mac Mini purchased on sale for $500 with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. I like it for what it is. It does a decent job emulating a low end PC for gaming plus it can do gay tracing in 60FPS for low ply shit like Quake 2 RTX and Minecraft.

This
Without ACPI, UEFI and a standardized open bootloader, ARM PCs are just smartphones without a screen. Calling them "PCs" already makes me instinctively cringe.
>>
>>109694961
I would arm a PC daily
>>
I do it's called my FUCKING PHONE
>>
>>109694961
no i would not daily any PC im not a monkey
>>
>>109694961
I would love to have an M5 Ultra Mac Studio for 3D animation. The 256GB M5 Ultra model has much more high-bandwidth memory available to the GPU than the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell (96GB VRAM) and is yet still cheaper today.

Would you daily a toilet? I think the novelty of it would be pretty cool, shitposting on a porcelain throne.

Of course, it would be toilet witch as fuck, but all your hand soap and t.p. are bloat anyway.
>>
>>109694961
>think the novelty of it would be pretty cool, shitposting on a small brick.
It's really stupid. I can build a mini-PC without ARM. I can repurpose an old all-in-one. I can use my android phone in desktop mode. You don't need an overpriced brick for shitposts

>Would you daily an ARM PC?
I do.
The only thing it's no good for is gaming, but neither was the Intel Macbook I had before it.
>>
>>109697935
Valve are working on some kind of ARM translation thing actually, similar to Linux's Proton. But it's for their new VR headset which is DOA due to component costs so who knows if it'll actually materialize
>>
>>109698482
The problem is Apple unwilling to compromise their GPU to work with something other than Metal
>>
>>109698482
macOS already has Intel 64-bit to Arm (they're ending it in macOS 28, but apparently are keeping bits needed for games) and Windows 11 has both 32-bit and 64-bit to Arm.
>>
>>109696972
That sounds doubtful, how about the GPU compute power?
>>
>>109696215
Oh cool, cherry picked benchmark results. Lets see real life performance. Oh wait, you can't show that because you're a poorfag who can't afford the newest MacOS computer.

I guess if I was poor I would say how my i3 is so much better, but we both no it's a delusion.
>>
>>109694961
Waiting for the LEG PC.
>>
>>109695105
>are slower than Intel equivalents.
substantially slower

>>109695276
>M6 ultra
wow. that's great. now if only apple had a dominating computer platform that mattered and had a market share greater than 8%. people would actually use it! but apple has nothing and their products are trash.

number of super computers built using apple chips: 0
>>
>>109695746
It's because they're not subsidized by being tiny spy machines for governments and corpos you carry around everywhere.
>>
>>109698533
>but apparently are keeping bits needed for games

>>109698511
not quite. the street shitting geniuses at 1 loo place have always created their own obnoxious and questionable derivatives in order to create user lock-in while also making it much harder to port software from one machine to another. this one of many reasons why people don't make software exclusively for macs and why it has fuck all games specifically written for metal api
