If something negative is said about your distro you usually block it our your brain, so, no, nothing happened. Hide this thread.
Nothing against Debian, criticism is forbidden in any Linux distro.

Not trying to make an argument.
If you want le epic banter, this is the wrong board. All I'm saying is, no matter the topic discussed, Linux users will, without exception, rule it out. This is a personal observation, not an argument.

What I'm assuming the recent events are:

>Arch has 400+ viruses in the AUR
>Artix had a major schism with XLibre; one of >the Artix devs resigned over the fiasco
>Debian voted in favor of using AI code; users are divided, and one developer even quit
>Manjaro is Manjaro
>Pop!_OS has become an unstable and buggy mess, according to many
>I'm not sure about Void, but I don't think the devs have been taking care of it properly, especially since the official Void ISOs are now a year and a half old.

I don't think gentoo will survive the AIpocalypse for long. Somebody will propose to do some small thing with AI saying
>it's just X why so angry :)
some key member will fold. Later they'll claim
>it works 99% of the time!!!
and propose AI for something bigger and rot will propagate.
>>

>Can you explain for a normie, I don't know what you're on about
Not him, but basically debian had a vote on whether they should allow AI contributions to the debian project. The majority voted to allow in some form AI contributions.

Some leftists (i.e. trannies) who voted against this abandoned the debian project because they believe that AI is fundamentally immoral and that it's a "fascist technology".

I hope this clears things up.
t. Debian chud

>>109702943
If I remember correctly after reading up on this yesterday one of the guys who left was only on the project for a relatively short amount of time it had comparatively low experience so they probably didn't lose much if any value from these people performatively leaving.
>>
>>109698640
Pretty much
>>109698688
Yeah in Artix's case it's more like it's being blasted by Xlibre schizos. They will recover when Tango takes his meds.

I'm on Devuan but I have to admit I feel the water heating up. The organization that backs Devuan is blatantly antifa, yet the actual community and people driving it forward are total chuds.

File: linux dramas pie chart.jpg (81 KB, 1254x1254)

Linux has, best-case scenario, a market share of around ~5% among all OSs used on home computers. Of that share, each of these drama-filled distros would likely represents less than ~5% of the entire Linux user base. Among users of those "affected" distros, the people really affected or limited by these dramas would make up only a small portion of each distro’s user base. Worst-case scenario, let’s say 5% of a distro's users are significantly affected or incapacitated by it.

Across the entire computing world, this whole shitshow (fragmentation, drama seeking, attention seeking, infighting, etc) occurs within an infinitesimally tiny sliver of the OSs installed on home computers: at most around ~0.0125%, that's like 1 in 8000 computers (I know you know that in reality is far less than that, but let's be generous here for the sake of math)

Think about that the next time you spend your valuable (and already dimming) attention on it.

*I* will take over maintenance of Artix if that's what it takes.

>>109707512
I'm new to linux and this seems like the best way. Gentoo feels like it would be learning a bunch of stuff just for the sake of learning it.
>>
>>109707596
They tend to break things for no reason and lag behind everyone else.

It's fine if you just want steam and a browser, if you want to do development, have any weird hardware, or run any obscure software it's become one of the worst distros.
