>over 300 mega bytes for a fucking note app
I'm having second thoughts before installing.
>>
I don't care about the size but it's seriously lacking in features, especially given how hyped it is
>>
>>109699858
no native apple pen support is just one big fucking deal breaker. how is it on android tablets on this regard?
>>
>>109699873
What features do you require that it doesn't come with or aren't satisfied by plug-ins?
Asking since I've suffered through every self-hosted alternative trying to escape but can't
>>
>>109699858
Notesnook is like 299, I recommend that one
>>
>>109699858
>web app
>cloud
In the trash it goes
>>
It feels like a private Wikipedia.
>>
>>109699899
Underline, colored text, proper tables with multiple lines (think OneNote), proper image support with positioning and resizing
Some of these have plugins but they're clunky in my experience, while some of them are impossible is slopdown (like tables).
A ton of very basic features require you to rice the editor.

you don't need more, notepad-tan is all you need.
>>
I tried this but ended up going back to cherrytree which is janky but works well enough.
>>
>>109699858
just do vimwiki or whatever
you don't need a fucking electron app to keep notes
>>
>>109699858
This shit is meh, i want something able to handle bookmarks instead. Because 99% of the stuff i want to do is better handled by Pandoc Markdown + any PDF engine for illustrations/pictures, unless is something barebones (at that point even a heredoc could do it). I might resort to use Zotero at this point.

Try VSCode (or any other editor) with Typst. It's like more intuitive actually working Latex. Its not markdown tho.
>>
>>109699858
use emacs or just vscoode
using a proprietary app just for notes is retarded
>>
>>109699858
Le UML but not UML app
>>
>>109699899
I was planning on trying standard notes self-hosted. How is it? Obsidian completely hangs for 10 seconds whenever I open it on iOS while remotely sync does its jobs. It's practically unusable.
>>
why do you need anything other than csv. Want to save images? Put them in drive. Create a public link and paste in your csv. Just have a paint for drawings.
>>
>>109700831
>Try VSCode (or any other editor) with Typst. It's like more intuitive actually working Latex. Its not markdown tho.
What does this even mean lol?
Are you legitimately too retarded to use latex?
And even then, why pick a commercial product by random Germans that will go unsupported in a few years or be sold to shady private equity?
Do people really still fall for open source marketing nonsense?
I’m not even trolling. If you’ve been in the industry for a while, you’ll notice a bunch of these commercialized open source software coming from Germany. Inevitability they all died or got sold to shady companies.
>>
>>109701041
Latex is garbage, grampa. Anyone who ever had to use it knows that any step of it is a pain in the ass. From using syntax apparently developed by legally retarded to compile times of over 10 seconds for even short documents. The only reason to use it is because retarded boomers hog academia. And if typst goes broke ill compile it from source since its already a better product than latex ever was, there is zero things Latex does better.

Being able to merge nodes with the mouse. What's the point of a graphical notetaking app if I can't drag nodes into each other?

I want a wysiwyg editor for real-time use (an alternative to onenote), not a meme typesetting language (an alternative to html)

I loved it due to how simple it was to use and gave me all the tools I needed, but now that we can easily have AI agents handling our projects directly... why would I want to use this instead of grok, which does all it does but then does a bunch of other shit automatically?

That's a general database of content written by other people. Obsidian is generally stuff you write yourself for your own personal projects.

what do you mean markdown
obsidian sucks ass you cannot place text boxes

I just tried it, and it used the same markdown syntax for bold. It's nice you can place boxes anywhere, but you still can't format text within tables. It still feels very limited.

literally every single markdown app need split view, and they fucking jump around when trying to match the plain text to render
