did slackware linux died an deaths?>owner of the project vehemently against systemd>all linux software now practically depend on systemd>also linux kernels moving against slack philosophywhat is there to keep going on?maybe Patrick should make a BSD?
>>109701244I went back to Windows. Linux became a worse Windows.
>>109701244Not my problem. Hurd works just fine. I've heard good things about BSD too.
>Against systemdBased
>>109701244Slackware will only die when Patrick diesAlso being against systemd is a good thing
>>109701267>Hurd works just fine. No, it fucking doesn't. Even its webpage says as much.
>>109701267Proof that hurd works at all? I would love to move to hurd if so.
>>109701244>all linux software now practically depend on systemdSomehow PCLOS, Devuan, MX Linux, Antix, Artix, Guix, Peppermint, Chimera, and many others, continue to function.
>>109704379Barely
Slack is too hard for nu/g/. Nu/g/ can barely install Ubuntu with AI guiding them through it.
>>109705055Has been the case for over 13 years now.
I wanted to try the other day, until I learned that the default install didn't even use grub but lilo. this thing was already obsolete when I started tinkering 10 years ago
>>109704391t. never used any of themDevuan is rock solid and works better than Debian at this point
>>109705325How much do you get paid per post? It has yet to produce a single working installer.
>>109705333works on my machine
>>109701267>Hurd works just fine
>>109705333i've installed Devuan in virtual machines, on a 20 year old laptop, on a 3 year old cheap laptop, and on a brand new Dell laptop, and the installation has gone fine every timeif you've had trouble, sounds like a PEBKAC issue
>>109705452How much do you get paid per post?
>>109705542how much do you get paid to reply
>>109705542yes, a community-run project is paying people to shill their for-free operating system on a board full of retards on a dying website in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty sixyou're a deep thinker, anon
>>109701244What even depends on systemd? gnome? It's been kicked from the slackware repo for ages, just use kde
>>109705782So, $0.5 per post?
>>109701244They have at least one developer who wants Slackware to use systemd. He is the one who made the change from ConsoleKit2 to elogind for the 15.0 release.
>>109701244>maybe Patrick should make a BSD?openbsd already exists and its miles better than any loonix distro
>>109705306I hate FOMO zoomers. Your motive is the reason we get Rust shoved down our throats.я
>>109709109It's more like cargo cult than fomo
>>109709109>>109709118the lead developer himself said so. why don't you go complain to him instead of busting my balls? https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=973850
>>109709195Congrats, you're retarded.
>>109701244last time i tried the release was ancient and alien live iso one was unrecognizable to me. The system comes with tons pf bullshit probably because of qt5/6 plasma bullshit desktop. Slackware is install everything and a kitchen sink, so when you import something as big as plasma you get absolute bloat. I was so annoyed when O saw fuckton of rc scripts and sysv scripts at that - something brought sysv compat which broke chmod style rc files management - it seemed that sysv literally became init or something which is NOT Slackware way of init scripts management! At that point I just given up on turning off unnecessary init scripts. Later I needed to build something from slackbuilds and it fucked itself bad spectacularly. The scripts are made for 15.0 and that rolling release live system is too detached from that point release rendering slackbuilds useless. At that point I just given up completely on it. Slackware was good when it had an actual release from Patrik. Alien BOB live system sucks dicks.
