thoughts about this project?

>about as big (although thicker) as the iPhone 13 mini
>132,8 x 63,8 x 12 mm
>3,500-4,000 mAh battery (replacable)
>eSIM, NFC, dual SIM or physical SIM + microSD
>MediaTek Dimensity 7500
>5,3" 720p IPS display
>fingerprint sensor side mounted in the power button
>8GB RAM, 128GB storage
>5G
>50MP Sony camera sensor
>OdysseyOS, whatever the fuck that is, hopefully stock Android

apparently they need 20k supporters and have 4,5k so far

thought I share it here bc it's a cool project imo, too few small phones these days

its a fucking advertisement for a grift hopping on the technology minimalism bandwagon
yesteryears budget pixel blows this thing out of the water for a price 3x lower

no shit it will be more expensive than the specs are worth, as of now it's not even on Kickstarter yet
but if the extra they charge isn't too ridiculous it would still be interesting to me because there are literally no contemporary phones at all in this compact size
>>
>>109701814
if theyre not outright lying a moq of just 20,000 will not get you custom hardware, if only from the tooling costs and regulatory overhead alone
youd need at least 10x the production to even consider doing custom hardware, and even that is a stupidly expensive low production run

so if they even deliver anything at all, what youre getting is a slightly reskinned $100 off the shelf white label chink phone
now tell me honestly that this is worth $600, $400 more than the pixel 9a with superior specifications, and that its somehow not a scam

Pic related, Geekbench 6 performance.
It's not terrible, but it's not very good. You'd want 2000+ single core, to be more future proof.
>>
>>109701882
the point is to rake in money from a niche market thats easy to scam

even unihertz isnt massively successful, and they are an established company that hails right from the guangdong anus of china
these yanks will be eaten alive by the wolves of shenzhen

either way unihertz will have a natural monopoly for the foreseeable future since there will always be low demand
>>
If it runs Android there is no point
>>
>>109701922
Unihertz has bad form factors, their phones are very thick.
This one is not as extreme, but still quite thick at 12mm. And maybe they'll do better with software and camera.

>>109701938
If you want people to use it, it needs to support Android apps.
>>
>Nothing
>Enough
What's next? Allot?
>>
>>109701967
your retarded pedantry about form factors doesnt matter when unihertz has already saturated the market
the iphone mini only was about 3% of total iphone sales, that 3% of apple is very close to 100% of the market
a market so severely limited in scale and growth already has an established company serving that niche in the most consequential way possible

theres no room for a competitor, unihertz has a natural monopoly

>>
>>109702028
>unihertz has already saturated the market
Lol no.
There are people who just want a decent normal phone with normal dimensions, like the phones from 10 years ago.
Unihertz are 16+mm thick and have chinese spyware and no updates.

With that said, this phone is also too thick.
They added screws to the back cover, which has almost no benefit, but increases size and weight.
Unless it's very cheap (it probably won't be), it will fail.
>>
>>109702137
they want to ship it with their own distro
who knows what kind of spyware/bloatware/malware bullshit it will end up coming with when they inevitably become desperate for cash
>>
>>109702168
I'm even more worried about the OS being unusable.
Looking at the Sleke phone, which uses the same OdysseyOS, it's very limited. You can't even install a web browser.

I'm afraid this shit is DOA. Too much autism.

This. Screens with holes in them and with rounded corners are equivalent to defective screens. Just add a bezel at the top and ignore the anti-bezel retards.

>>

>idg what's so bad about rounded corners.
Imagine buying a display, but then someone cuts all 4 corners, or breaks the hundreds of pixels in each corner. That is exactly what rounded corners are.

If your alright with a 20:9 aspect ratio, you should consider the Xcover Series. I run a 6 as my daily driver and it has a headphone jack, micro SDcard expansion, removable battery and a no screw removable backplate. I have an extra 1TB micro slapped in on top of that. Feels nice to not have to cry over cloud storage.

>>109703098
>I was autistic about these things too, but then I realized I don't use them at all.
Personally I enjoy using the headphone jack for wired microphones and analog synths, it's feels amazing when you can hook up your phone to a device from the 1980s and send/receive music from it.
The micro is also great for obvious reasons. The only issue is that like phones from the 2010's you cant store apps on them. As someone in IT a majority of phone requests are "it's out of storage and they want me to pay for more" I can take as many photo's and download as many ROM's as I want with no issues.
