I've been using Ardour for a few months. Works fine for me on Arch. A couple plugins crash Ardour sometimes, but idk if it's Ardour or the plugins fault.

I use Bitwig Studio 6 on Debian 13, with a lot of hardware in my setup. After some tuning on the OS, everything is working great with latency set at 96ms

The fact that you never see any musicians use Linux professionally should tell you everything you need to know about the viability of desktop Linux. It's software ecosystem and audio stack are multitude times worse than Windows, no matter how much shills try to say otherwise. And in the end most professional musicians will use a Mac because Apple made damn sure their ecosystem is the smoothest for tasks like these.

I do not recommend Linux except for ideological reasons because it was massive fucking around to set up, and a lot of native windows or mac plugins will need a compatibility layer which is even more fucking around. However I do use it and it works flawlessly (eventually). I only use Reaper and Linux native plugins, guitarix and NAM have made it viable for a guitar based workflow, plenty of options for synth I especially like Vital, drums I mostly use samples but MT power drum kit is great. If you can't mix and master with Reaper's stock plugins then you can't mix and master. Nothing else you need. Ultra low latency, performs better than windows, but it was a fucking nightmare getting it all set up I couldn't even tell you everything I did. Took me about 3 attempts I gave up the first couple times decided it wasn't viable. It's just the latency issue took me forever.
