Hope it’s /g/ related

>started career as business analyst
>company goes Agile, accidentally become Scrum Master while still doing requirements/tickets
> somehow make ~$80k doing this
>do it for a few years, eventually clear $100k
>get bored as fuck
> company pays for most of a part-time master’s in UX because design seems interesting and close to what I already do
>manage to move onto a UX project
>holy shit I actually like my job
>spend about a year doing usability research/design and actually influencing what gets built
>UX market proceeds to implode
>design work dries up, most people get cut or replaced by AI
>survive by crawling back into Agile/project management
>apparently companies are still willing to pay six figures for me to ask engineers if their Jira tickets are updated
>start interviewing because fuck it
>design applications go nowhere
>meanwhile company interviews me for senior Scrum/PM-ish role
>they offer ~$170k
>job would be remote, stable, and a significant career/pay bump
>also pretty much confirms I’m abandoning UX as a career and becoming a project/program management guy

take the money or keep trying to get back into the one job I actually enjoyed?

what do

why do you still need to work with years of an average yearly income of >100k behind you, shouldn't you already have retired?

design is a meme that's filled with women and gays. plus we've pretty much found out everything there is to know about 'usability' already so that kills the research aspect of it.

take the money and paint on the side or something if you truly like ux idk

Take the money. You'll still get a chance to branch out. Most important thing: Establish expecations while you're still new, leverage that UX experience to point out measurable issues holding the business back.
