The rise of age verification laws obviously would benefit big tech firms.

But the laws are also tied with Chinese censorship and surveillance laws.

If you follow the pattern of laws passed in China and the various "updates" Apple made to their phones and services, it becomes very clear they're both connected.

Apple changes their devices for China but also keeps those changes for the rest of the world as well.
