it's just too hard. You have to deal with two different incompatible toolkits that are clearly hostile to users. Have you ever tried to replace an icon in a theme? It's a doggy dog world out there. Back in the day you could make your own bitmap font with paint now patching a font takes the entire night to compile. It's intenable.
