sorry, i needed them to vibecode my fitness tracker app

are lto tapes a viable alternative now?

The 2TB SN850X w/heatsink I got last year for my PS5 Pro apparently went from 141€ to 484€ on amazon.fr, and that with a 15% discount that ends later today, otherwise it's 569€ (~$660 w/VAT).
>>
Took a chance and this thing was brand new. I have 2 of these and a 1tb 960 evo and won't have to pay these retarded prices for years. It's 1k now kek
>>
>>109709114
You aren’t entitled to cheap hardware
Get over it and get 2 jobs
>>
>>109709213
I got a 4gtb 990 evo plus on sale JUST before the prices shot up. Now its almost 3x the price, I'm REAL glad I bought it. The GPU I got for the same reason has only risen by ~200 euros and I have seen it on sale for nearly the price I bough it.

Computers are just facing a pricing correction.
The Original IBM PC cost $17800 in todays money and they became obsolete within 5 years.
$300 for a 1TB SSD with 7000MB/s speeds is absolutely mindblowing.
>>
>>109709263
yeah and aluminum used to be prohibitively expensive to refine
get with the times unc
>>
>>109709114
LLMs ran out of RAM so they decided to thrash SSDs instead

I got a PNY 5080 Slim OC on sale this past Prime Day for the equivalent of ~$1,150, right now the same card is for sale at ~$1,800.

Also lucked out back in June when I got an iPad Pro 13'' while in India for work a week before they increased the price worldwide AND aligned the Indian market price to the worldwide one for a whopping +54%!
>>
>>109709114
these are the prices the zoomers deserve
>>
>>109709114
The world we lived in no longer exists.
That was one year ago btw.
>>
I remember when the biggest problem was finding one of these with DRAM, lol.
>>
I bought a 4tb 990 pro and 64gb ddr5 6000 cl30 a little over a year ago.. real glad i did as an upgrade was long overdue. I was still on ddr3 before that. The only thing i regret is that i didn't get like an 8tb hdd when they were still cheap
>>
>>109709219
Yes, usually we pass laws to stop this monopolistic or cartel behavior.
>>
>>109709785
These companies have more power than governments. You aren’t doing that
>>
>>109709213
Yeah I got a 4tb nm790 in 2023. The price is like 4-5x now. Shits fucked. Manufacturers and memory chip makers are happy to have finally dealt with pesky consumers getting good deals for too long.
>>
>>109709114
My 500gb m.2 SSD started dying last year. I bought a 2TB 990 pro for for $160 before the prices shot up. ngl it was a blessing in disguise.
Wish I got the 4TB, but at the time I was gambling if it was the SSD that kept crashing or something else (it was the SSD).

Yes, it's bonkers. Not just NVMe, RAM and now GPUs. It's funny how I decided to build a PC last autumn, not knowing anything about newer PCs (been a macfag for ages), but I wanted to play some Diablo 2 Resurrected and said "fuck it, why not build something decent". Put 2TB 990 pro, 32GB 6000MT/s Corsair Vengeance, 5060 Ti 16GB. Now I put the same three items in the cart from the store I bought them and it's almost +1000€ on top! I bought them for 837€ and now they are ~1742€! This is the closest of me winning something in life.

990 pro - from 168.21€ to 369.99€
32GB Corsair Vengeance - from 184.06€ to 559.99€
5060 Ti 16GB - from 485.72€ to 814.99€

You can thank the AI apocalypse.
They're shoving it down our throats and I can't think of a single positive thing AI has done for humanity so far.

>>109709974
We can also thank you fucks for not standing up and allowing these mega-corps to exist and control everything.

AI tech bubble
>>
>>109710724
>You can thank the AI apocalypse.
No, you can thank the memory cartel for refusing to increase manufacturing capacity so that demand keeps prices sky high and they can have record profits.
>>
>>109710822
They could've done that before.
This only happened at this severe level with the AI bubble.
>>
>>109710777
Yes, but unlike index funds burning money at the labs, at least the data centers have compute/storage that we can grow into later.

I understand that still doesn't make memory or storage cheaper though.
>>
>>109709219
>implying it was cheap in the first place
KYS
there's no reason for these things to be unaffordable in a world entirely dependent on them
>get 2 jobs
after the AI boom puts us all out of job opportunities?

What form of mental gymnastics to cope with criminal price fixing is this?

>They're shoving it down our throats and I can't think of a single positive thing AI has done for humanity so far.
except for allow anyone to cheat university degrees, deal with 95% of the banal office paperwork and potentially speed up medical imaging to insane levels of accuracy ?
i'm convinced 95% of the people who view AI as inherently bad are those who do nothing but view it through the lens of video games and porn.
literally do some basic research on it's applications outside of these hobbies.
