No, I'm 30 and unemployed. Took a look on Indeed and Linkedin today. I don't know why I still bother, there's almost never anything good on either. But then I got no fucking clue where people find actual job postings anymore.
>>
>>109710253

I'll look at Hiringcafe, thanks. Wellfound is US only.

At least wagie has the dignity of what saving up paychecks can offer to advance and enhance his quality of life and success
The NEET on the other hand is either scrappin for a welfare claim or if he gets rejected for non existent work history or not having the correct paperwork has to embarrass himself leaching off family friends etc who may learn to resent them
Its good to help those in need, but give NEETS the boot
Even wagies get unemployment benefits

> 2012-2022 BSc Physics
> Good knowledge in C++, Python, FPGA

and I got 3 interviews after 3 applications with 1 being a offer at a bank.
Now I do that with a MSc and some work experience, full CV I don't even get a invite. Its really fucked.

I just got a rapid-response request for an HR interview with a jobs.now gig.
Looking up the company shows it's a staffing company, every US employee is Indian, and the main campus is in India.
I am a shitter, quintessential ass-projects, didn't work on getting gud post-graduation after giving up 100 applications in sort of CS fucker, so I'd probably fail a technical round even if this IS legit, but should I just do the phone meeting instead of whipping out a camera for this? hello me from the future

working at a small company. cant get offers even when its an exact match and i do well on the interviews.
ive come to just stop worrying about it and save money. im going to start doing prereqs for something in healthcare.

tech sucks. it wouldnt be as bad if it were stable, but theres way too much luck involved. the pay is nice and i never thought i would make this much, but i need to have a backup plan. nobody is hiring anyone from cold applies unless you have very niche skills.

pre ai there was a hard iq barrier on people just hiring dumbasses they like. with that removed and the labor pool increasing by 10x while also being 50% actually racist indians makes this not a viable long term option.

even if you break into tech, its just never ending. "oh i'll be fine when i get x yoe" no you wont, its never enough. 1, 3, 5, 10 yoe, doesn't matter. your job can disappear at any minute and you have to make all your financial decisions around this. hiring is very very limited for cold applies.

>White people wanting others to feel sorry for them just because they are white
Come on, man. If you really want to enter the pity olympics, you're going to need something else. Broken home, rising out of poverty, I'll even take a busted knee from a sports scholarship that died on the vine.

If the ultimate source of your unhappiness is umeployment, sorry man, it's not just you. I know 4chins likes to imply everyone is a tard, but there are a lotof smart people who are out of work right now. The economy has stagnated or even contracted in multiple other sectors for a while now. Tech dodged the bullet riding on the coattails of AI, but the easy money is drying up.

If neither of us finds a job right away, if nothing else, remind yourself in two years how you weathered this bullshit, and then use that as proof that you ain't bitchmade when the next hard round comes through, like cancer or a life-altering accident.

Latest blogpost from my Indian smart meter job: most people have to log into an online system to answer phone calls that occasionally (but rarely) come in. Not only do the managers not know who does or doesn’t have access to it (they keep asking me to log into it, when I still don’t have access), but also some Indian from India logged into it and was named among the staff for all of yesterday. Nobody knew who he was and it took all day for someone to actually get him removed again.

Earlier this week, two of my colleagues were talking to each other, and the Indian woman asked the Nigerian guy, “So, do you have a visa to work in the UK legally?” He did, but I might genuinely and unironically be in a job with literal illegals.

>>109726492
It depends entirely on the job. Any proper check will catch you if you’re lying. Mom-and-pop SMEs might not catch you, and mid-tier companies will catch you and not care, but anything good will slap your shit. Everything everywhere is outsourced now as well, to other companies, and all those companies are just desperate to catch someone to prove their value to their clients, so personally, I wouldn’t risk it (even though I did it myself in 2015, and again in 2017).

Fewer people have the RHCSA, by probably a factor of ten, but it’s pretty useless in practice. It’s up to you, but I wouldn’t bother with either really. CCNAs are much more common, so less impressive, but also far more jobs actually want them.

Also I had how all job ads are essentially vague posting.
>>
>>109732647
Try for an entirely different job. Check job websites, and anywhere else you can think of, and see if there are any industries near you which have a large number of different companies. For example, if you live near 40 different law firms, they will all be basically the same, so if you work for them (not necessarily as a lawyer!!), then it won't matter if they go broke or fire you because you can just get a job at a different one. And if you're good, you can move to another one for more money because they'll probably have heard of Anon, the incredible HR man / building facilities manager / sales dynamo / purchasing assistant, who used to work for their big rival.

If you're autistically obsessed that it has to be an IT job, for some reason Windows certifications get you paid way more than Linux does. And companies that use Windows will use it for everything, and will probably be scared of Linux and unwilling to ever change. Also, if they haven't abandoned Windows by now, I don't think they're going to.

At the age of 24 or 25 I was unemployed for 5 months. Best time of my life, I was never again as happy as I was back then.
>>
>>109741356
Reminds me when I was unemployed during peak covid. Despite the constant fear mongering, it was a comfy time.
>>
>>109741356
I got a master's before my first job, so my first job was at 24. Worked for a year, 11h a day, on-call, and terrible politics. I quit with nothing lined up. 6 months of NEETing. Best time in my life by far. 10 years later I still long for it.

For the vast majority of people and I assume everybody here, you don't just get to be unemployed. Being a NEET is comfy. Instead I think most of us are working absolute shit tier jobs that are pure torture every day both physically and mentally like working in a store or fast food restaurant. There are songs that if I hear them now, I get this sinking feeling in my stomach because I've had to listen to them probably over a thousand times on repeat at work.

>>
>>109741902
Yup. In some of my jobs, I've been very close to clients with technical people on the other end as we sold SaaS memes for devs. The longer they've stayed at the same company, the more retarded they are, literally can't "program" without drag-and-drop tier if they have 15+ years.
The only time I've found other programmers on my level, they're stuck in dead-end low-paid jobs at e.g. university facilities or some such, if they can even manage to get something stable.

Yes but no. The problem in tech is that HR is preventing any qualified person from connecting to technical hiring staff, but there are actually more job openings than qualified people looking for jobs.
For history it's between 4 applicants for every 1 position and 6:1 depending on how you count. So even if every last person got matched with a job without HR getting in the way (and they do get in the way still), you still would be in a very bad spot in practice.

It's called AutismBux, or disability. Many here are eligible and here in the USA the lawyer to handle your inevitable denial and appeal takes a cut of the retroactive pay so it's no cost process. Then you get $1000 a month, snap tendies, and much more forever! The ride never ends.

The irony is, I have a CS BS and other degrees and would accept employment if it was meritocratic and not a strange mix of performance art to appease passive-aggressive normie cunts, nepotism (VERY important), excess credentialism and experience paradoxes (yeah I have 100000 years experience as a new grad!) and mostly PURE LUCK like a fucking lottery. This crap is intolerable to my Autism - give me an algorithmic rule based effective procedure that automatically guarantees income by following the steps fairly or GTFO and fuck you pay me my disability Danegeld.

>>109728954
>not anymore, you gotta prove you can make $580 a month or volunteer hours somewhere
Not if you are disabled, only normies are subject to this just like all the other crap they are burdened with.

>>109744041
Getting disability for mental health is hard to do and takes years of documentation and years of process. It's even more difficult if you have ever worked before. It is not something a lot are eligible for. It's possible to fraud, but the amount of work is great for such an awful lifestyle. I have known about 6 people living this lifestyle, they were always complaining and depressed. The NEET pepe posters are doing it as a psychological cope that they are very unhappy and being legally deemed a useless invalid. When you first get on SSI you are happy. It doesn't take very long for it to sour and turn into misery.
The real irony is claiming you could do the job. The people that fall into this lifestyle have no work ethic at all. On top of generally having at least one personality disorder, the idea they could hold an office job at all is unrealistic. They do have programs to retrain people like this into the work force.
I know you are going to respond with another obvious bait. I just wanted to let you know that people see through the little act. I hope you get your life together anon. The longer you wait the harder it gets.

I had the documentation already so it was easy enough. I never said I wanted an "office job" as that sounds like the definition of Hell, I said give me the tasks without any headgames or dancing for NPCs like a trained animal and I absolutely could do them, i.e. totally remote from the start and that doesn't really exist. I was a caregiver for a parent which, coupled with ASD, meant I've never held any form of employment whatsoever for many years at this point as it simply doesn't make sense to me going through bizarre humiliation rituals, gatekept by raging feminist cunts and assorted oversocialized ninnies.

I'm very social with intellectual peers and betters and had no issue shooting the shit with my advisor who retired from IBM and who was friends with IBM Fellows etc. Those people found me cool enough by the process by which normies "use" friendship for material gain simply doesn't click and feels awkard as fuck.

Call it what you want, I don't care. I inherited a nice house and have enough to get by so the only motivation I have for employment is intellectual stimulation and money for more hobbies maybe travel or shit. Not applying for 100000 positions and moving to MLK Blvd. for the first shitty opening available after begging for it.

State vocational rehab programs do absolutely nothing for you if you have a degree in my experience, they can only help mostly with unskilled work positions. They will pay for grad school at a state school, however the use of an MS seems debatable if you have no experience. So don't blame me for not trying, I absolutely did and it was of no use.

it's been a year since we were told our company is shutting down, a year of not being able to find a job
I'm almost 30 years old with a mediocre CV, a few yearly gaps which already looks bad but at least I had actual reasons like covid, burnout, trying something else
now I can add another one on top of it for no fucking reason at all
it also makes me look like a habitual hobo, like I just get bored of each job after 1-2 years and then take a year off to waste my savings
I'm so fucking sorry for blowing off a few take-homes, and for most of them I've done some work but then got stuck and just never messaged them back
now I'm a prospectless loser, too old for a real career, let down my parents, went from a gifted student to a unemployed drunk
>>
>>109754030
I've had a handful of interviews since the time I was let go, and all of them asked why it's been so long since my last job (I was let go in May of last year). The answer of "Well, the tech job market's pretty bad right now" seemed to surprise them every time as if that shit hasn't been blasted in tech news for years now.

I would've hoped that, considering the companies I interviewed with were all in the tech industry, they would've had some clue as to what the job market looked like. The fact their job postings get a fuckton of replies apparently also wasn't an obvious indicator of how bad it's gotten. Jesus Christ...
>>

The truth is not always the best thing to give in job interviews. Blaming external sources for your problems, like blaming companies for not hiring you, is excessively honest autism and you need to think of a different answer. If you have some skills from a previous job, maybe say you quit your last job to learn those skills on a correspondence course or something.
>>
>>109755356
London is meant to be better because it has America syndrome, where all the jobs from all over the world congregate to hire everyone and they assume that there are just more jobs there because it’s a great place. But I live in Manchester. It’s better than rural Cumbria or Wales or Cornwall, but job websites are worthless so where the fuck do I look for a job?

It's been well known for a while that london is where all the jobs are at. Best you can do is live within train distance, but it'll cost you a ton to commute anyway.
