>Everyone kvetching about Sony ending physical releases and "digital ownership" being a sham
>Remember that there was a whole-ass techbology that people were pushing to serve as a "proof of ownership" for digital products that could, with some legislative backing serve as a conduit for physical product ownership rights, including transferability and survival of the producing entity's demise or loss of license
>"Bro NFTs are a scam look "right click save"
This is funny to me but also I hate you all.

It was a meme, blockchain is the only real tech behind it backed by hard math.
As for loicenses, you get what you deserve. I get jailbroken console. Also I get everything, right now and I keep it forever.
You get worth than nothing, you're getting stripped of what you paid for. Nothing personnel kid.

Nonsense jibber jabber
The only real way to have digital ownership is to pirate, end of.
Copyright law implies you don't own your physical media so all the chuddies that want legal digital ownership are low iq retards that want to rewrite said century old law.

pirate .wav music, pirate blueray remuxed movies, pirate video games on airgapped w7/xp machines, pirate on jailbroken consoles.
You will eat shit and own nothing if you give in to modernity with all its services and devices
fuck you

I don't want the things I "own" on a public ledger >>109712606 has the right idea

no the whole nft thing does not exist to prove you own a game, it was made so that you can make a game where you can mint NFT's at a fixed price, and people playing can technically trade and sell their NFT's.
An NFT is just bytes on the blockchain, and then there is code that could be stored and executed, which means you can have a game with no servers (the code just funnels the money into the developers wallet, and puts the minted NFT assigned to your wallet in the database).
So NFT's could be a proof of purchase if you really wanted to.
That sounds great but then people will use the classic paypal infinite money glitch, where they send you the paypal money, and then you give them the NFT or whatever crypto asset, but then they press undo and you lost everything.
This would never happen to (you), but in these situations, as a developer, you want to undo that and ban the scammer, but that's out of your control. To control it, you need admin access, AND you CAN put admin access in your crypto database code (if it was server-less, but you can't really have a game with multiplayer real time gameplay without servers, you need TCP...), but that defeats the whole point of de-centralized currency, and every modification of the database will cost 1000000x more than just hosting your own server (not an issue, hosting a server costs more if nobody plays it).
Nobody wants to moderate everything, it is nice to be able to make a lawless system where you say: "aw... you got scammed? too bad". But generally, abuse can take a million different forms, you would think, nobody would waste their money and time to ruin a game to make it unplayable, but there are people who would absolutely do it just for the love of the game if your game had enough attention, because people love having power over things like that.

>whole-ass techbology
It was by no measure whole which makes the rest of your sentence irrelevant
