I LOVE this company! Christ, the entire PC rebooted. Right during loading of my Firefox profile as well, so all cookies are gone and I have to re-login everywhere. FUCK AMD.
Just finished my first build since 2011 and things are definitely more annoying than back then. Graphics cards are monsters now and you can't even tell whether they're in the pcie slot properly, just have to hope for the best. They also take 3 psu cables as well as cpus needing their own dedicated psu cables which makes cable management much harder. Oh and I now have a sag bracket because graphics cards are so mcfuckhuge they collapse under their own weight. Motherboards all have huge heatsinks on them which restrict access when in the case - so you have to do even more things before moving it into the case. There are more fans now and they all have usb leads so again cable management is a nightmare. Since analogue ports have been resigned to history it's harder to do that initial boot and setup as well. I think the only thing that has improved is cpu fan installation with the mighty thumb screw.
>>109718576fans are much less annoying now if you get fans that can be daisy chained

>Fresh insider information from well-known leaker Kepler_L2 indicates that AMD is targeting operating clock rates for its upcoming RDNA 5 GPUs in the range of 3,1 to 3,4 GHz. The flagship solution for the upcoming series will be the graphics card Radeon RX 10800 XT, created using an advanced 3-nanometer process technology. Its die will feature three times more compute units and nearly four times the memory bandwidth of the previous-generation RX 9070 XT. Hardware ray tracing performance per compute module will increase by 100%, guaranteeing a stable frame rate at 4K resolution.>Power consumption of the future flagship Radeon RX 10800 XT The power consumption is projected to range from 350W to 450W thanks to the transition to a modern silicon node. Considering that the current flagship GeForce RTX 5090 outperforms the RX 9070 XT by approximately 82%, AMD's new development at such high frequencies will be able to outperform the current leader by 30-60%, and in resource-intensive scenarios, it will demonstrate a two-fold advantage. Engineering optimizations to the die will eliminate previous limitations in processing geometry and shader arrays. Such a massive technological leap for the RDNA 5 flagship could fundamentally alter the balance of power in the global discrete graphics market.>Against this backdrop, Nvidia is exploring the possibility of delaying the launch of the GeForce RTX 60 series and supplying Blackwell dies for three to four years, allocating silicon wafer production quotas to hardware AI accelerators. As a primary technical response to this competitor, the DLSS 5 scaling algorithm is being prepared for release. However, the current flagship RTX 5090, priced under $5000, consumes approximately 600W and continues to experience frame rate stability issues above 120 FPS, significantly increasing the market potential of the new RDNA 5 microarchitecture. It's never been this over Nvidia bros

My 5070 has been doing this ever since I started rendering some stuff and running prompts, especially after the UV + OC setting was toggled though occasionally when just UV'd.I opened my side panel just in case and my power connector is exactly where I left it, same with the support leg. Started doing when I tried taking screenshots or just moving my mouse, like some game of red light green light. No hardware log errors either. Alt tabbed, flashes black 2-3 times for 3ish seconds again.

>>109720236you should watch some videos that compare mini-led vs IPS vs oled.mini-led looks identical to IPS for noisy high contrast scenes, because it's the exact same technology but with a low resolution backlight (sqrt of 1000 zones = 32x32 resolution). Apple has had mini-led's in their laptops with 10k zones for like 5 years (technically 2.5k zones but 4 led's per zone), but more zones creates a more sharper and unique halo instead of removing the halo completely (but the Halo is not really noticeable unless you are in pitch darkness, the cameras makes IPS and mini-led's look worse than they really are).apple is moving to oled macbook pro's late this year (completely dropping mini-led's).The reason the macbook pro needs mini-led is because it's bright as fuck. OLED's historically are dim, and if you had to compare a dim OLED vs a IPS, the IPS looks better in a bright room if the brightness is higher (at the same brightness, the color is mediocre, but the "blackness" is identical if both are matte coated). But now OLED's are bright. OLED's will burn in, but I think if you buy a 1440p monitor, you are going to buy a 5/6k monitor within 5 years anyways.

>>109721428Both of these are 1152 zones, same as typical 4K panels. It's only with the latest 5K LG panel that we see 2304 zones. How can they be bad?
>>109720681You are acting like OLED is expensive but in reality it's the same as the mini-led if you get the 1440p cheapest one you can get.Yes, the cheap one is going to burn in faster because it's previous gen, and it's QD-OLED which is the worst for a bright room (woled is ideal but we are still waiting for the budget gen 4 monitor, you can get a $380 RWBG gen 3 woled on sale but not sure your country has the same sales), but it's still going to last 5 years, and it will last a lot longer if you live with the burn in. And note that mini-led still has the potential of having one of the zones fail (bad uniformity / just having the whole backlight pixel die). This isn't a burn in issue, it's just the hardware failing, just like how an LCD might have a dead pixel.Unrelated (you don't need to read this): I got a dead subpixel on a AOC ips monitor, and the warranty did not apply unless more than 3 subpixels are dead... but later on, I got RMA'd it due to a different failure related to the controller, But since they ran out of stock, they replaced the 24" 1080p to a 27" 1080p, pretty happy with it because it was just before the 3 year warranty ended and I did not need to pay anything (technically 27" is 20% more expensive because the shipping is higher, nobody should ever buy a 27" 1080p monitor), but note that I hoard all my boxes for everything that is under warranty, which means that If I did not keep it, my monitor would not fit inside of the 27" monitor's box for the return (I don't know what would happen if I didn't have the box).
>>109720818Probably have a ton of stock left of DP1.4 connectors they insist on using on monitors it's insufficient for. Not unlike how ASUS were shitting out 1440p165HzHDR (not vesa certified of course, they'd fail miserably) monitors with shit DP1.2 ports that couldn't do more than 120hz with HDR on without downgrading to 8-bit with dithering.

>>109721561AMD is doing an excellent job because they are outperforming intel using dogshit silicon.intel was using overpriced 3nm silicon for every CPU after 14th gen. Now they are moving to 2nm silicon for nova lake.Meanwhile the 9800x3d is using 5nm fabs that were upgraded to produce 4nm.Now... if AMD just keeps on using 4nm for their am6 socket, I think they will cook intel in price because the better silicon does not offer any performance improvement, it's all just power efficiently because the mobile chips and desktop chips share most of the same design, the better silicon are given to the mobile computers (unless the yields are really good, the desktop chips might also get good silicon that could run at a low wattage at lower performance).
>>109721102we're getting kind of close to new CPU generations from both intel and AMD which should be out early next year. I'm sure you'd rather just hear they aren't worth waiting for but from what's known they're looking to be the biggest deal in a long time because both companies are making large architectural changes to address their relative weakpoints:Intel is adding an x3d style huge L3 cache which should make their CPUs actually competitive for gaming for the first time in forever, and AMD is bumping their CCDs from 8->12 cores so core counts for each segment are going to increase for the first time in forever.
>>109721517>You are acting like OLED is expensiveI don't see how considering 1440p 240Hz OLED's were cheaper than this monitor>and it's QD-OLED which is the worst for a bright roomWhich is ironic considering the film is supposed to help with making it look better while it is brighter, no idea how it'll look on a desktop monitor though since my only experience with OLED is through my phone AMOLED(s) and whatever is in retailers on televisions, won't deny though nothing ought to beat this 5 year old AMOLED on my phone for how nice night time scenes look >, it's just the hardware failing, just like how an LCD might have a dead pixel.Even my BenQ PD series isn't immune to having at least one, kind of wish I still had the proof of purchase laying around for it> they replaced the 24" 1080p to a 27" 1080p,They actually tried doing this when I RMA'd my 24G2ZE to my local retailer because of a power supply issue (audible buzzing from the power cable) and initially they proposed replacing it with a 27" 1080p VA panel instead of another IPS, which they eventually replaced it withSo there might be one reason to go with a more established brand over a newer one

>>109723107Then get a 3080. Any AMD card that isn't RDNA 4 is mostly paperweight nowadays because they perform like shit in new engines with mandatory RT and shit like that especially the RX 6000 series which struggles hard in UE5 games and similar engines. Upcoming games like Witcher 4 and stuff will be using UE5 and won't fair well on those older and inferior RDNA architectures. Whether you like it or not that's just the reality of where things are headed. Nvidia 30 series and above are good at handling these modern engines. And with such an old and relatively weak card in 2026, you'll be using upscaling if playing at 1440p anyway and DLSS is the cream of the crop. The RX 6000 series doesn't get FSR 4 till next year and nobody knows what the performance hit will be like yet either. So the 3070 is the best option of the two by a distance. Ideally get the 3080 10gb (or 12gb if you can find one for a good price but they can be expensive because they're more rare) if you have a suitable power supply for it (750w or above).

>>109723940RDNA 5 is also using neural rendering as part of FSR Diamond so the performance hit will always be there, and RDNA 5 won't be 5090 levels of performance anyway.
>>109723965Rdna5 AT0 will be at least 1.2x 5090 performance
are HDDs and DDR4 ram back to being affordable yet? >>109723957yes, 4k is still a meme
>>109723503comfortably running AAA currentgen games with maxed out settings was never a poorfag hobbythe closest it ever got was the x360/ps4 era and contemporary PCs which was arguably the golden age of personal desktop computingif you're fine dropping settings to medium or running last-gen, older titles, or indie stuff, gaming is a poorfag's wet dream even now
>>109723503skill issue
>>109724040>if you're fine dropping settings to medium or running last-gen, older titles, or indie stuff, gaming is a poorfag's wet dream even nowew who the fuck does that?the WHOLE POINT OF GAMING is to play new titles to increase your social standing, be hip and culturally relevant, and show of and brag to others and have things to talk about. why the fuck would I waste my fucking time playing shit like witcher 4 or fallout 4? everyone's moved on.dropping settings to medium is also cringe. why pay all this money just to play at PS2 level graphics? and indie stuff is gay and not legitimate.
>>109724063*witcher 3
>>109723972Not in the current GPU climate. It'll be 5080 at best to cater to console performance since RDNA 5 only really exists because of console requirements and specs. AMD won't go any higher because demand for their cards barely exist outside the midrange.
4k projector or 5090/6090...god damnit, why is dlss5 so majestic, thought i could coast on my 3080 for another decade.
>>109724063(You)trying too hard anon, you're supposed to be at least a bit believable when shitposting >>109724071the only reason I'm even remotely considering an nvidia card at this point is to reasonably run local ai bullshit because fucking ati is massively lagging behind in that field despite having objectively better hardware
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ-flbvMflY
>>109724094no seriously. why do YOU play modern games, anon? there's no other reason. nobody in the world plays games for "muh fun". that shit is cope and a lie
>>109724100because it's just reshade?
>>109724071AT0 is a 512bit monster built on 3nm with a far better uarchIt won't just be 5080 (0.67x 5090) performance, that's delusional
>>109724227It'll be an enterprise card with 32gb+ vram. Nobody is buying that shit for gaming with how much It'll cost from the ram capacity alone. Assuming any of that is true in the first place. Amd has forfeited the high priced gpu market segment.
Kinda feels like the PC building market is on its last legs. Will we even be able to build PCs from new parts in 10 years?
>>109724319You'll have to use a 4gb ram mobile phone in the future and experience games made with chatgpt being played by asmongold and streamed into your device at 480pmaybe the wealthier folks will buy a google cardboard for immersion
>>109724319there is still plenty of old hardware left if you really want to play something. got a 9070xt right now but i could probably play all my games on a rx 480 4 or 8gb.
>>109724329$30 a month for 24 hours a week of streamed gameplay. Anything more is not suited for a productive society.
>>109721368holy shit you're dense

>>109723616DLSS 4 preset K, which is used for "quality", does NOT have a sharpening pass. it has real, reconstructed details.
>>109723638the most popular games right now still use lightmaps and/or screen space shaders, which makes them run decently fast on most hardware."people" who buy the 5090 don't even play much. you can easily tell by going to any hardware forum and look for a dedicated thread of 5090 users.those threads always have more posts then lower-end gpus, which means the goycattle that buy these overpriced bricks spent most of their time shitposting in some dead forum, rather then playing games.
>>109722282welcome to the club>next upgrade beyond this monitorprobably a 39" 5k2k 360hz monitor whenever DP2.2 or DP2.3 becomes available alongside the rtx7090/rtx8090
>>109724823if you have an office job you can post here and there while at work. What do you think it takes to buy a 5090?
Found a pricing error for ddr5 ram for about 30% off, how much does unopened ram sell for on the street if i bought a couple more than I needed?
Is my 5070 enough for 4K native if I don't play games newer than 2020 or if I turn down settings for newer titles?
>>109723827>DLSS is just nuking all the detail in floor.probably because these incompetent chink devs don't use the correct mipmap bias offsethere is what devs SHOULD use for each presetlook at page with "14" (at the bottom right):https://github.com/NVIDIA/DLSS/blob/main/doc/DLSS_Programming_Guide_Release.pdf

is radeon rx 9070xt good choice if i just need something for full hd 60fps without bumping down graphics preset too much in next few years? Mainly talking about current gen unoptimized unreal slop and gta 6
>>109724823there's just not much interest in any product that's 2nd or 3rd bestthat also goes for motherboard brands where asus threads are hundreds of pages long while gigabyte/msi/asrock have barely a few dozen
>>109724840>What do you think it takes to buy a 5090?5090 buyers are vaxxMAXXED goycattle who have never had an original thoughts in their entire live. they barely play any games at all.they spent most of their spare time on forums, flexing their social status.
>>109724876steam hardware stats says otherwise. midrange cards are used the most by actual gamers.
>new monitor arriving today >KTC announces the M27P6S with twice the local dimming zones and DISPLAY HDR 1400 while staying 4K albeit at $636 instead of $450 Fug...
>>109724851DLSS is the one with the extra details
>>109724891Midrange cards are workhorses but that doesn't mean they're particularly interesting to talk about on online forums centred on overclocking, modding and pushing benchmark scores
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXZ-OP6kpLsSeems a bit of a misstep to release dlss 5 like thisSure the modders got stuff going on to make screenshots, maybe even gameplay footage on 5090 but the mainstream gets nothing out of it besides forum shitposting. They need a future model thats been drastically improved perf wise, maybe even a combination model for neural rendering and upscaling
Aaaaa I gave in and consoooooooomed. I bought a 9070XT for 760€... but surely it's completely worth it, especially if I can sell my 7800XT for 300-400€, r-right?
>>109725157nvidia already proudly announced that this version of dlss5 is 5x faster than what they demoed initiallydlss5 came at the worst possible time and it'll practically be demo-ware until the 6090 becomes available in 2028
>>109725157nobody cares about this apehoop gamemodding is what people want this tech forbench it on gta5 and skyrim
>>109724873It's the only sane choice at the moment unless you want to wait for the next generation of cards which you'll need to buy within 5 minutes of orders going up because they'll sell out instantly.
Hold on AMD can run on DLSS so what's the point of Nvidia
>>109725249I cant see a future where people buy a mainstream card and have the dlss 5 work on the 4k output imageIt needs to be both more efficient and it needs to work on lower res image that gets upscaled.
>>109725273dlss5 is a power virus on the level of prime95 since it saturates the tensor cores800w 5090s are running with much less performance penalty than regular 5090s with/without it turned on

Thinking of buying picrel (Cooler Master NR200P ver1) as an upgrade from my 15 y/o ivy-bridge based fulltower build, and since my target lifespan of any PC build is at least 15 years i'm afraid the case may be too outdated in terms of dimensions and features (lack usb-c...etc)What do you lads think? Is it a good buy? It's sold for like 40$.
>>109725457That price is too good so I'd get it imoFront USB port lacking type c is a minor problem as more and more boards are getting 2 or more type c ports these days
