There is absolutely no reason why every new screw shouldn't be Torx Plus by default.

>Torx
Nobody should be able to open their devices without a special tool, so the "Gamebit" screws are the true master race over Torx.

no

Philips just works.
>>
>>109722682
That's external torx.
>>
>>109722695
Microsaar supporter detected, your opinion is discarded. Go shill your goyslop Torx screws elswhere, shartskin.
>>
>>109722710
The concept of torque capacity doesn't exist in brown countries?
>>
>>109722737
And why should I use a type of screw that 99% of screwdriver sets come with?
>>
>>109722674
Does anyone else tap their own holes to use a different size? Even those crummy plastic nipples inside of plastic enclosures can be filled with resin or glue+baking soda to support a newly tapped hole.
>>
I got a new laptop and every screw was torx and it uses a different length screw at the edges compared to the middle

unholy bullshit kill it with fire
>>
>>109722674
Allen bolts are already a pain in the ass, you expect every cheaply made screw in your fantasy land to justwerk without ripping the bit out of your screwdriver every time or being a pain to get started at awkward angles and without visibility?
>>
>>109722905
Torx screw design beats every other common screw designs in terms of reliability at every level of metal hardness and manufacturing tolerance.
>>
>>109723083
Torx is nowhere near good. I mentioned Gamebit for a reason, it's the opposite of Torx's head design wise and prevents dumb niggers from buying an average store screwdriver set for it, instead requiring its own screwdriver (which surprise, is nowhere to be found on average joe screwdriver set). Security on both ends, because why should I allow ANY end user to have EASY access to the hardware inside any device?

>why should I allow ANY end user to have EASY access to the hardware inside any device?
why shouldn't you?
>>
>>109723243
To prevent the average joe from breaking the hardware for one? You'd be surprised how many idiots the Gamebit has filtered in most places it's seen usage. (and surprise, it wasn't only Nintendo that adopted them.)
>>

they have divisive aesthetics. I approve of them and allow them to be visible. Not all will.

Thanks, but I'm sticking with slotted screws (and an ad hoc driver like a knife or something)
>>
>>109723312
LITERALLY all anyone needs. Screws are for holding things together, they should be as easy to remove as possible. If you want to prevent access use glue or something

your teeth match your screwdriver heads

My fav is torx slotted screws, commonly found on HP desktop PCs, you don't have to use special torx screwdriver.
Philips sucks if screw is made with shit materials, can drill it into round shape easily.

Erase everything but triangle.
>>
>>109723828
Phillips is designed to cam out if you over tighten it because it was originally invented for airplane assembly where preventing the metal parts from deforming from too much tightening was more important than the screw head getting damaged and needing a screw extractor bit.

Japan had to design JISdrive to make a Phillips-compatible screw that doesn't cam out just because you overtightened it by 1/4 of a turn.

well if it really mattered that much why couldn't they use torque wrenches
