All the data required to beat Portal is freely available online in abundance.If Astra used it or not, I don't know.But even if we assume it did, that on its own is just as impressive as beating the game by itself. Basically the AI was able to search and download the solution, use computer vision to acurately interpret the gameplay footage and reproduce the mouse and keyboard inputs faithfully. For AI, that's a massive feat on its own.5 years ago mainstream AI couldn't even reliably beat a game of snake, unless instead of being using machine learning, it used hardcoded deterministic algorithms to solve that specific task.
