Creator of windows task manager reinvents task manager. It works on linux tooThoughts?https://youtu.be/c3EEs-O3bGE
>>109758860I bet this scammer used AI slop to do itNews flash anyone can write their own shitty task manager with AI
>>109758860
>>109758860Kind of hard to beat htop/btop for linux.
>>109758860>It works on linux tooi am potentially interested>>109758941>Kind of hard to beat htop/btop for linux.they're functional but the ux is kinda dogshit unless you live in the terminal
>>109758947>they're functional but the ux is kinda dogshit unless you live in the terminal100% of my Linux machines are headless, so I do live in the terminal. Will be a few years until I use Linux for my desktop.
What a one-trick pony. Is he literally incapable of doing anything else?>no source codeInto the trash on that basis alone.
>>109758860An experienced dev directing a decent AI agent (which our man here can afford) is warp drive for software production. Not engineering, that involves discipline, but extrusion of functional turds. And in the end we used to say "it's dark in the box" i.e. the user doesn't care what the system architecture is, m68k or mipsle or x86 or whatever. Well now the user doesn't care how the software was produced as long as it works.
>>109758860so this unc can only write task managers or what? why does he have so little creativity
>>109758860Do ya think he has a task manager to manage his task managers?
>>109758941what is the msi afterburner but for linux?
>Guys!>HEY GUYS>GUIZES HEY>HEY>HEY GUIZ>DID>HEY!!!!>DID YOU KNOW.... >DO I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION NOW??>SO>DID YOU KNOW THAT...>GET READY FOR THIS!>DID YOU - >HEY!>DID YOU KNOW THAT __ I ____>WORKED AT MICROSOFT A GORILLION YEARS AGO??>THAT'S RIGHT. ME!>DO YOU ALSO KNOW THAT _I_ POGRAMMED THE TASK MANAGER?>YEP, THAT WAS ME!>I AM BASICALLY MR WINDOWS.>INCREDIBLE HUH?>NOW WATCH MY OTHER 9001 VIDEOS ABOUT ME HAVING WORKED AT MICROSOFT HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO!
>>109758860>Creator of windows task managerwas it the old based one or the cringe win10+ one
>>109759354this.I'm sick of him popping up in the recommendations about him having worked at microshaft decades ago. put on another record for fuck's sake. guy must have paid several jeetfarms to get here.
>>109759347I don't get performance tuning a $3000 computer. That has to be the most unproductive hobby on planet Earth.
>>109758860This guy writes downright dogshit code.
>>109759369>hobbyThat's some weird projection. You do it once in 30 minutes or an hour and then you save it as a profile that is used until you change the card. Afterburner is arguably more useful for things like being able to easily set your own fan curve, I've had many cards over the years which had absolutely retarded defaults, from cards which were too loud in idle for no reason to the opposite where the fans would barely run while the GPU was at 85C.
>>109758860the CEO of task managershe should rebuild the rebuilt task manager
>>109758860Nobody gives a shit. There's lots of task managers on Linux already and windows sucks.
>>109758860Lmao that thing uses so much CPU
>>109759382What's the point in overclocking if you're not measuring performance metrics? If CPU overclocking nets you 2 FPS on average but consumes 25% more power, then you would want to revert the change, right? I guess you could run some other benchmarking tools like cinebench, but most people are overclocking to play their favorite video games. Seems like it would take longer than 30 minutes.I know I've used something like Afterburner to overclock my GPU before. As far as fan speeds, I have no idea but there are probably similar tools out there. You can do quite a bit with nvidia-smi.
>>109758860Checked anyway. Useless. It's a prettier task manager that doesn't help debug much and takes too much processing power. It's also kind of ugly.
>>109758860>I have a penis!>Give me money!
>>109759438
>>109759438I don't know why I'm laughing so hard at this.
>>109758860Pointless shit
really wish we had something akin to android subsystem for windows.
>>109758860I know it's vivecoded slop without even looking at it>>109758941htop is fucking garbage thoughFreetards can't into UI/UX
>>109759507btop is nice if you need to point and click like a boomer
Look, his retirement fund is running out. This economy really is brutal. He needs your help!
>>109758886He's not a scammer he's the real deal. t. old former microsoft blue badge
>>109758860does not install on win10 pro, not compatible with this version of windowsHard Fail dude.
>>109758860Just use ProcessExplorer
>>109759630Indeed. I kneel beore sysinternals
>>109759630No point when SystemInformer exists
>>109759576He's married and has kids, which means there's never going to be enough money. Plus he keeps buying vintage mainframes.>>109759507Yes, it's vibe coded. He's very explicit about that. He has a couple of guys in eastern Europe he works with to use LLMs to build the product. >>109759614Apparently that's only because the installer sees W10 as an unsupported system. He could use a different installer instead of Microsoft's slop installer. It can be installed manually but it's just a task manager so few are going to bother doing those extra steps.>>109759578That anon pops up in every thread about Dave Plummer. He's either a bot or has a bot that alerts him of new threads quickly, both are disturbing possibilities. What he's talking about is long ago the guy created some system scanner software that looked for and removed malware. That worked as intended. Where he got in trouble was by running animated banner ads that showed a simulated system scan with a result of "your system is infected" and offered to clean the infection with his software, which cost money. Some old boomer got angry, probably when one of his kids told him he was a moron, after falling for the ad and filed a complaint with the state. The state asked Plummer to stop using ads that look like a scan actually took place and in infection was found. He agreed and simply stopped selling the product.
>>109759694>He has a couple of guys in eastern Europe he works with to use LLMs to build the productuhh whathe isn't even vibe coding by himself?he's emailing guys from another continent asking them to vibe code for him?fucking kek
>>109759530Never heard of it, I'll try it
>>109759347LACT
>>109759530>btop is nice if you need to point and clickNo it isn't, because there's no tabs and you can't right click things. Plus it's ugly and doesn't use Qt.For me, it's ksysguard6.
>>109759578except hes literally a scammer you retard, he used to make malware
>>109759741The KDE UI makes me want to barf. Reminds me of corporate software from 2005.
ye, juicy and superior program. easily makes it to the GNUnix desktop if i were assembling distros like Lunduke. useful for development too, to see what process does / depsGNUnix doesnt have a GUI task manager at all AFAIK, there is no key combo even, like Ctrl+Shift+Escape on windoze
>>109758860>Thoughts?Cool, but only because of the "Dave, the monster of Software" - Memes.>used AIYes, 100% you can instantly tell by the look of it. Also OP used his thumbnail, which is also AI, yes even the white and yellow text, so many JewTubers do this now, once you recognize the pattern... you will notice how many fuckers actually do this. Also: He was asked: "Why did you build a task manager?" And he said: "Bla, bla, talking about AI... can you builld WORD with claude? Bla, bla.. I don't think so. Alright, let me try to build a task manager with claude"It's slop. He is a decent programmer and I like his "native only" approach, yes... AI is *le future*, but this is shit. A comeback without AI would be much cooler.
>>109758860does it measure individual fans yes or nodoes it measure individual fans yes or no
>>109758860Well, trying to customize Plasma System Monitor was a godawful experience, so this might be relevant to my interests.>>109759694>Where he got in trouble was by running animated banner ads that showed a simulated system scan with a result of "your system is infected" and offered to clean the infection with his software, which cost money.SO HE'S THE GUY WHO MADE THOSE
I was gonna say this is cool but I have a launcher that calls btop in a suckless term (st) window so I'm good. Didn't this guy also make the notepad clone? Regarding the thumbnail. I bet he uses my GIMP innerglow plugin set to linear light. I can see it.>>109759530 you can control btop using keyboard. btop is legit quality foss.
>>109760054why would you not be able to build word with claude lmao, theres thousands of word processor projects in this thing's dataset
>>109760054win32 makes writing a taskmanager pretty easy honstly, I'm not sure why he did this again in the first place. I don;t understand him even chasing ecelb I'm an old MS blue badge and I find it a bit cringe. Move on.
I wish I could live in an anon's head rent free like Dave Plummer can.
