WTF are these prices? did i wake up in a timeline where prices on flash memory got stuck on 2008?This past january i got a 512GB microsd for my dashcam and it was around $25... now i need another 512Gb for my PicoStation and what the fuck is happening and when is it going to normalize? whats the excuse for these retarded prices other than the people involved in the hike are "THE CHOSEN PEOPLE "?
The largest microsd you could buy in 2008 was 16GB512GB is a miracle of human ingenuity and modern physics, and the ability to purchase one for just $150 is a blessing greater than any granted to even the greatest of ancient kings
A.I. inflation for memory. I buy them all the time for my retro gaming handhelds. I stocked up 512GB cards before the price rises and got have left. Boughtered them back when 512GB was an average of $60. Saving my next one for pic rel.
>>109762024WELCOME TO HELL MUTHAFUCKAAAA
>>109762853>I buy them all the time for my retro gaming handheldsWhy? Every GBA game combined is less than 20GB. Even a full DS pack is under 200GB.
>>109763009I have many devices anon. I also have modded consoles, pi devices, cameras, tablet, etc. I use SD cards a lot.
>>109762024Who cares? Phones no longer support microsd.
>>109763088Me too but are you buying 512gb SD cards to put in devices that play GBA games? That doesn’t make much sense.
>>109763294The devices I buy run more than just GBA games, and I only buy 512 GB cards to stock as backups for the ones that do. You're looking for something to be upset by, I get it, but I can assure you, your complaining is pointless.
>>109763423I just don’t know why you’re bitching about the cost of these cards when you clearly don’t try to optimize your usage of them whatsoever. The people like you who bitch about pricing on this board are such insufferable assholes.
>>109763171My Motorola phone does.>>109763443Why are you so mad that I boughtered a bunch of SD cards before the price raise? It's my monies, not yours.
>>109763088>I use SD cards a lotStop being a retard and use a small pc with samba/nfs for most of it.For chinkhelds it's even faster than an sd-card not to mention how much more reliable an nvme is.
>>109765548How do I use samba/nfs on my DSi? Or PSP?
>>109762024>boy oh boy I sure love capitalism, letting the market distribute scarce resource results in the most productive results, simple as>WHAT THE FUCK? The scarce resources are being redirected from my broke ass to those who can pay more?! That's not supposed to happen!>it's those damn jews, isn't it!please cpnsult the chart
>>109762024I paid $15 for a sandisk extreme 256GB like 4 years ago, wtf, we really need to start killing people
TH-TH-TH-TH-THIR-THIRTY FIVE??
>>109762024I paid $118 for a 1TB card to use with my Steam Deck a few years ago and I also bought a handful of 128GB cards for $15 each last year. These cards are so fragile that even $15 is too much for something that can easily die on first write, so modern prices are beyond ridiculous.
>>109762024My mom bought me a 128 MB Memorystick Duo for my PSP for the same price. To see 2000x more space in 15 years is amazing.
Why do you keep making these same threads over and over and over and over again. We all know already, it's been like this for almost the entire year, fuck off already
>>109766474The number is what they want you to look at, number go up!!! Meanwhile the 128mb has something that the 512gb doesn’t have. That’s the reliability.
>>109762024Just be thankful you don't need a MicroSD Express card for a Switch 2. Those fuckers are twice the price and capacities over a terabyte are a rarity, hell Samsung doesn't even make a terabyte card.
Their margins were dwindling and they saw AI as an opportunity to hike up the prices. They blame it on "inflation" and the ominous AI so you don't blame the manufacturer.Blaming AI also gives them a legal loophole to do this. The proof for this is that there is no shortage of products. You can buy anything you want in any quantity - it is just more expensive now.
>>109767590There actually is a shortage if you need >>109767112Only the "cheap" flash storage that nobody wants is readily available. Samsung choosing not to make terabyte versions of their express cards, for example, is a deliberate choice to force you to buy multiple 512 GB cards even though they're one of the big memory and flash storage providers they're deliberately choosing not to invest into the consumer side of their business.
>>109767621I would bet that if you went to Samsung and wanted 10000 of those cards, they would just sell them to you and when you complain about the price they would just give you excuses around AI and inflation making this necessary and you should be happy that they can deliver them at all because the evil AI bros are buying up all the flash and so on.
